Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

Unfortunately it's a side effect of ignoring beta log file (which was in the last patch). I mean if you're a beta player ; otherwise that's a real bug.
Old beta log files were previously taken into account, but now they're not. Sorry!

I feature this amazing tool in this video on Dirty Drive Tuning. Thanks for making it!!

Ok, thx but how do I do that? Can't find that option (i must be blind probably;)

Lemme quote from github, here:

Warning: Elite Dangerous started outputting logs only recently. It's very probable that the initial state of the app is wrong (negative numbers, missing entries, wrong numbers...) so you will have to manually change the quantities using the +/- buttons. These manual changes are recorded so you don't have to do it each time you start the app. After that, you are not supposed to use these +/- buttons. You can also directly edit the numbers without going through the buttons. Changes are saved and persist between updates. Even if you reinstall, they will remain in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\EDEngineer !

great stuff ! don't forget to setup your mats ; I saw some negative values in the video [up]

Thank you will do :) I still need to delve into this app and potentially make a video about it. But before I do, please change "MainWindow" to something more meaningful! ;)

Ah Thanks a lot :)

Suggestion:

How about a tab of some sorts where you can see, say, the last 10 things (mats/data) you received / picked up?
Especially when hunting data / wakes and such i often end up going through the inventory for discarding unneeded data.

Absolutely loving this app, I've not done much engineering, but know I'm being encouraged. As I wasn't really tracking any MATS/DATA, (Couldn't be bothered) then I load this up and discover I've got a few upgrades I can do right now, fantastic. :-D

Ok, I'm finally back to engineering again so I'm using this again. Seems like it no longer updates at near real time? In fact, after I deleted 15 units of a material, it hadn't updated after an hour. Kill the process and reload fixed it.

My friend in voice chat has the same. Anyone else?

Been working rather real time for me, are you running 2.2 production or beta? I wonder if the change is on Elite's side or EDE's (likely the latter, just curious). Anything else change on your PC?

Yeah that's a good idea, I'll try and do that next patch (when I'll get rid of the commodities tab since they're getting temporarily removed from recipes)

Some users reported issue with the game tracking logs when they're located in another drive than C:\ ... I strongly suspect permissions or something similar, but could be something else (said users moved their logs to C:\ and the update worked). I'll have a quick look when I'll have access to my home computer soon enough !

Thanks HG.

I do have various drives on my PC (system, apps, data etc) but nothing has changed/moved since this used to work almost real time. Only change is game and your app updates.

Found a bit of a bug. I'm using the latest update. Can't tell if this is a problem for EDEngineer or perhaps in the log files from the game. In any case, the scenario goes like this - I have been working on Qwent and so collecting Modular Terminals. As I get them I have been dropping them off to him so that I can avoid constant interdiction due to carrying around cargo. At the time I noticed this issue I had already dropped off 16 so I had 9 to go. I got 12 and had them in my cargo hold. I ensured that EDEngineer had that recorded correctly. So I go to Qwent and he takes the expected 9 that he wanted, leaving me with 3. But EDEngineer now shows -13. Clearly what has happened is that when Marco took his 9, EDEngineer subtracted 25. Since I had 12 in my cargo, after subtracting 25 this results in a balance of -13. It should have subtracted 9.

@Cmdr Zach: I believe it's an access right issue, but I'm not 100% sure. What happens if you make the log folder non read-only?
edit: I published an update that attemps to fix this issue for good. let me know if it's alright

@sqzbox1:

It's a known issue that I reported here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...s-doesn-t-generate-logs?p=4869396#post4869396
Maybe it's been fixed since then... They did not tell me anything about it if they did. Could you send me your log folder zipped on github?

Ah right - that will be it. Interesting that even 25 were deducted then. Anyway, which log do you want? Is it the client.log? There are several logs in several locations.

Also, I went searching for EDEngineer in the location you listed (C:\Users\Bryan\AppData\Local\EDEngineer) but I couldn't find it. Searched and found EDEngineer.exe -

C:\Users\Bryan\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\JM7JGKWE.Q89\K1C594CJ.J8E\eden..tion_c7c2cd04d2cdd815_0001.0000_b24f311fcc6e1cbb\

Is this what you expected?

The log folder(for the Journals) is located in 'C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous'.
