Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

Great little app! Rep for you, Cmdr!

Feature request:

1. Option to turn off the changelog and language popups when app is starting.
2. Keep the window unlocked once the option is selected.
2. Remember the window position when unlocked.

Thanks!

if each time you open EDEngineer you get the release patch notes, it means that for some reason the application cannot save your settings. not sure how this could happen without visible error messages though. the window location/size/state and all of that are all saved to the user settings. it also means that you probably cannot save favorited/ignored blueprints or persist your filters. do you have any special setup in place on your computer?

Totally Agree, What an amazingly useful app, now always running on second screen so i can see how much i got, what i need for the future mods.

Feature Request:

1. Can we have smaller text for the Materials and Data. Reason = so we can have more shown on screen to save scrolling down/up.
2. Change Colour scheme.

Thanks Cmdr HG, GREAT App!

Not really, just standard Win10 Home Edition with admin account etc.

I'll mark some items as fav/ignored and see if it persists tonight.

Just to confirm - I have downloaded the setup executable from the OP and installed it that way. It got installed into my user directory on C: drive IIRC (I'd prefer to choose the installation dir though, but there was no option for that).

This is one of the most useful tools every made for ELITE! THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you're ever on a layover in Atlanta, GA, I'll buy you as much beer as you can handle for an hour!

Will this change in player Journal in 2.3 beta help to sync the material list without having to manually enter them the first time?

*Added info in player journal at startup with Cargo, Materials, Passengers, Loadout

yup :) won't affect users who already uses the application and fixed their data, but will be useful for new users
one good thing though is that you'll be able to play on different computers without syncing the logs, and you'll also be able to delete all your logs without losing information (as it'll be generated at each startup of the game)

This doesn't allow you to choose where it installs to? Deal-breaker for me.

it installs in your AppData folder such that it will never require admin rights and allow easy uninstall/update at the same time; I understand your point though even if I won't adapt the app

Choosing where to install an application is a basic requirement and easily within any "best practices" of computer software. It's my storage space, and my computer; I'll determine where something is installed, not anyone else.

Installing automatically in the appdata folder is actually pretty common for small tools and utilities (either via Squirrel or ClickOnce), especially if the developper wants to ease the access of his app to people who may or may not have administrative privileges on their computer. On top of that I do not want to pay for a certificate for an app that was initially made just for me (but which I open sourced after friends suggested me), and I personally never ever give admin rights to an unsigned application: hopefully people do the same.

There's really no need to be condescending and talk about best practices, I actually make a living writing software.

Very good job! Worked without issues on the first try (win 7 64-bit) after installing .Net! Rep+ and thank You!

Humble unimportant suggestions for better visibility:
1. All font sizes equal to upper right field (type, name, progress)
2. Type column in upper right field (type, name, progress) aligned to the left

@JRohrer: thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to fix it! could you open an issue in github with a zip of your log folder attached? that'd be great ! (if github refuses zip files, just rename the archive to jpg)

@ExoForce: dynamic font size is something planned but could be quite tricky to do

@DOCa Cola: Mono is a subset of .NET and doesn't include WPF unfortunately (which is the main tech used in the app)
If I were to rewrite the application (or if anyone wants to undertake the idea :) !), I'd think more about a typescript application running in electron (which can access the filesystem to read logs via the node API)

Finally installed this and it makes the whole engineer thing so much easier!!

Only problem I have now is I set it up on my latop at home with multiple screens but when I open it on my laptop only while travelling the engineer window is not on the screen....is there a way to reset it?

HG Is EDE recognizing the beta? I forgot I had it running and then logged into the beta, the next thing I know all my counts for 2.2 were whacked. I normally remove my beta journals before going back to normal game to keep this from happening.

Ah yes. The Beta journals are stored in the same place as I remember changing the SSC for the last beta to pick that up to change save paths for screenshots if wanted.

A needed enhancement there to not process those.
