Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

The recent added new functionality doesn't appear to function.

  • Added buttons in the shopping list to expand/collapse multi-grade blueprints (double click the orange circles to see it in action)
The circles are hollow to begin with but when double clicked the circle become orange but the list doesn't collapse/expand.

Based on how it's working for me, I think the expand is just backwards. If you narrow your window until just the G1 shows, then clicking the orange circle will expand and contract the whole section (horizontally). But it goes the wrong way, expanding into already-empty space -- if that makes sense.

Anyway, I DO see it work, it just doesn't help anything :)

yeah you can't collapse a block that has 4 or more grades with positive values
if you have a single grade in your block, you can hide/show the other grades (which aren't in your shopping list yet) with that button

I use EDEngineer a lot - I'm a big fan.

One thing I would like in a future update is the ability to type in the number of rolls on a shopping list item - If I want to engineer all the guns on my gunship, I need to be gathering materials for around 100 rolls, and clicking the green + symbol 100 times gets old fast!

Thanks for the great work - a few features took me a while to puzzle out, but in general it's really intuitive to use and easy to pick up.

I agree with you this is annoying, so I made the numbers directly editable (with some other minor improvements)

Hiya HG.

I get a couple of errors on app start.

After clicking through the app loads. not sure if any functionality is impaired though.

I just came across this tool and think it would be a fine addition to my game. I downloaded it from the link given two posts above, does it just install and work straight out of the box, or do I need to know how to install it if you understand what I mean?. If so could someone point me in the direction as 530+ plus posts is a lot to read?.

not sure I understand the question but to install, you need to run the setup.exe

I subscribe to this thread and had a vague memory of reading that it needed to be installed in a specific folder in the FD folder on my HD and wasn't sure how to do that so I posted my question. When it went unanswered I decided just to install it in the normal way and of course it installed fine and is working as it should. Case closed and thanks for the reply.

Love the loadout function you introduced recently:) I've just downloaded the new version and noticed that the tier icons in fron of the mat names only show tier 4. Is that intentional?

Can I just say this is a beautiful piece of work - I've used your program foe month now, and the fact you have been improving it since it's release says lots about your work. Most excellent.

Ooooh, did you know that Hera Tani can engineer Power Plants right up to G5? I noticed that you've only got the first four blueprints in EDEngineer!

(Note - doh! Silly me! Forget that!!)

are you using the latest version? should be 1.1.1.0 (your issue used to happen but should already be fixed)
if your EDEngineer doesn't auto update there might be an issue with your installation:

make sure to use this link : https://cdn.rawgit.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/master/EDEngineer/releases/setup.exe
and not the green "Clone or download" button on the top left in Github
I used that link back on 1.1.1.0, but it never showed that versions .7 or .11 were there since then.

After I use the link you show here, and run the setup, it runs fine. I then make a shortcut to the latest exe (e.g. the edengineer.exe that has todays' date)...is that where I'm going wrong? The exe is at "c\users\user\appdata\local\apps\2.0\d9e..."

Otherwise, I don't know why it's not seeing updates. It did before back about when 1.0.8.9 was out, but then stopped for some reason.

Hi there Cmdr HG,

First and foremost, thank you so much for this incredibly helpful application.

Just to report, though, that since upgrading to 1.1.1.11 I am experiencing massive framerate drops when using EDEngineer whilst playing the game. I have a high-spec PC and have never experienced this with any prior version. Just started today but it is consistent (framerate dropping from triple figures to circa 20-30).

Hope this can be fixed,

o7,

Truesilver

interesting - out of curiosity, how many log files do you have in your journal log directory? and I guess that if you kill EDEngineer then Elite Dangerous gets back its correct framerate?

if you have a lot of them I think there could indeed be a slowness induced by the app though that part of the code hasn't changed since a while now

regardless, I've fixed that potentially troublesome bit of code so let me know if you still have slowdowns

Ok, I give up. It didn't see version .21 was out, and nobody has this problem or seems to know why it's occurring. Good program anyway.
