Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

I am having a problem with getting the app to run. I run the program, it looks for an update, and then it just closes. I never get an icon in the notification area.
I am using Windows 10 64 bit, build 1803 (the latest Spring creators update). I have checked the event view and I am seeing nothing there that would seem to relate to ED Engineers.

(Ticket also opened in githib)

Hi HG - I seem to have picked up a bug with a recent update - every time I boot ED Engineer, it tells me a new update is available.

Its not a show-stopper, I can either download or skip and the app runs as normal, but it does mean I run the risk of missing your next actual update because I am slipping into the habit of clicking 'skip' when I see the new update notification.

Abzolutely love your app. Has made engineering soooo much more easy to plan.

Problem I'm running into is that the I've run out of vertical room in the right hand pane. Very close on engineer bprints, but data inv/required runs below the bottom of the pane, even with full window.

Could you add vert scroll bars for both bprints and esp mats/data?

@Abil Midena

I'm not sure what could be the issue, if you got to "Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features" you can see the real version of EDEngineer (I don't always update the app's version or release notes especially when I push a hotfix). You can also try using this file here : https://raw.githubusercontent.com/m...er/EDEngineer/releases/EDEngineer.application (ctrl+S somewhere and double click the file to open the app), it might help with the problem

@Kilostream

Somebody reported the issue here : https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/issues/372 but closed it so I figured he fixed it, maybe you can find something in the thread

@LP Garnell

if you're talking about the shopping list, there's an horizontal splitter between the blueprint list and the shopping list which you can drag around ; once you do, it should make a scroll bar appear where you want it to

I dunno man, I think my next move is to throw chicken bones at my computer while I do some Celtic chants.

I followed your link, and did the ctrl+s and ran the prog. It started ED Eng, so we'll see if it checks/sees the next update you post.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I can manage to check the version when I'm back at my PC - beyond that I'm usually not too good at figuring out why computers don't do things, so I'll probably keep skipping or try uninstall and a fresh install.
If I find something that works I'll post again. Thank you for the prompt response! That's what I call service!

I thought I had seen it before. Thanks!

Getting an error and cannot lauch EDEngineer (Version 1.1.1.25) since last update.
Can send error report if needed.

yes that would be good (on GitHub)
some users have reported this problem https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/issues/378 (application crash when updating the shopping list) but I have yet to understand what's the problem exactly - if that's the same issue feel free to contribute to the thread but if it's something else, don't hesitate to create a new ticket

Hello,
Since the last patch i have a sync issue with EDEngineer. When i start it, all my materials are ok but when i collect a new one it dont update EDE in real time, i have to restart it to get the count update. I did a full reinstall, deleted all temp/registry etc... but still the same... Btw first time i installed this software the shortcuts were ok in start menu and desktop, but since the last update the .exe go in this folder :\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\4VX84ZTQ.JOV\WL02O4N7.NTH\eden..tion_b9c6c2d0b4f2eae5_0001.0001_818e7c83bd1de023 and i have to put manually a shortcut on my desktop. Maybe something going wrong with the install ?
TY in advance and sorry for my poor english.

yes indeed, someone reported the issue earlier and it's already fixed in the latest patch :)

Still not working, i cant get the last version, i did a new install and still got an old version (1.1.1.21) :(

edit : i deleted the eden.. files in C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 and now i cant uninstall or run the setup.exe, got this message : The referenced assembly is not installed on your system. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B3). I dont have EDE anymore and cant install it again :(

edit 2 : i checked the C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\EDEngineer and there is no "manualChanges.{Your Commander Name}.json" inside, only this folder\file : EDEngineer.exe_Url_uwadkpweqaeyojwdx4ycacaxztjtd0ii\1.0.0.0\user.config

no don't bother about seein the latest version, it's automatic (even if it doesn't show in the app, I most likely forgot to update the version label)
the real version (hotfixes included ; which I don't bother to update the version number when I deploy) should appear in Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
it should currentlty show 1.1.1.29 there (once you manage to install)

not being able to install should be solvable using the wiki : https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/wiki/Troubleshooting-Issues

I already did all thoses things in the wiki and now i have this error : The referenced assembly is not installed on your system, when i launch the setup.exe or the .application file, as i said in my last reply. Ty anyway, nothing more to do and no more Ede for meh :(

@Talmahera I don't know anything about the technical stuff but honestly, if you can, I would advise you to persist, because I do as much RNGineering as anyone and, believe me, Cmdr HG's app is awesomely essential.

Reverting to an earlier version worked for me. EDEngineer was running again.
A day later an update was "available", ran it and it is still working. \o/

Wow, just wow the new 'MATERIAL TRADER' function is a brilliant addition, saves tonnes of time trying to figure it out. Thanks.

hehe yeah I figured it could be useful and I had a bit of time yesterday evening so I thought why not write something quick for this

think it could be enhanced like showing the kinds (data/manufactured/raw) and rarities as well as highlighting the ingredient expander when hovering the ingredient/blueprint in the shopping list

I've used this matrices here http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Material_Trader#Conversion_Rates (which just show that there's a power of 3 rate of conversion) so let me know if rates are wrong
