I'm hoping some might come along later, as that will save me from inciting some sort of social discombobulation, a hulabaloo if you will?!

We're roughly back to pre-alpha Odyssey (the official one) numbers. Which is still better than the pre-carrier doldrums.Dunno, before Odyssey (yes i check for schaudenfrodo reasons like a jilted lover), numbers were always above 10k, sometimes (but rarely it's true) as good as 12k. Whenever i look now, they are averaging around 6-7. By my calculations they've lost about a third of the player-base, then again, it is true i can only count to 10 thanks to my fingers and thumbs. 20 if i take my socks off.
+ smashing + greatSuper.
rofl you trust a site that posts based on 'sentiment' and do not trust the chart of the main platform that hosts the game on pc.That's just Steam, a subset of a subset... I know that metric isn't the full picture... so went looking for others... probably accurate as a ratio, but I know enough about community analysis to know you can't project that shift as a given/accurate picture

that sounds like trust to you? And, not saying they’re right, but an equation based on X level of positive reviews typically generates Y percentile of owners actively playing an MMO could be a knowable metric.if,… maybe
Steam Charts are no more reliable than "Online Sentiment"
Server Population & Player Count - MMO Populations
Elite Dangerous player count, server population, subscribers and game activity stats (aka EliteDangerous).mmo-population.com
if right, while not great, these numbers aren't super bad (especially considering the sad state of the game and the weirdness of so much effort spent on a worse UI and not AI crew in cabin, planetary issues etc.).
maybe not quite a crisis mode for FDev?
if right,
well, regardless of that taking a shot at my post or not... that's plain funnyOther sites only report numbers that came straight from the horse's mouth, but MMO Population dot com reaches deep to bring you a perspective from both sides of the horse.
That's not a great metric of player count either. All it says is how many people are playing at the same time on steam, it certainly doesn't mention the amount of people playing in total. That site is completely wrong, you want to see a better metric of player count? https://steamcharts.com/app/359320
Not good.
It's the best one we have, the others are just trying to get clicks on their site by offering magic numbers they couldn't possibly know. If before Odyssey, i looked at steam stats and saw 10k players pretty much all the time, and now i'm seeing 6-7k players all the time, then that's good enough for me to assume that they've lost players. That's not a great metric of player count either. I never said they had not lost players, I'm sure they have. I don't know."The Players and Daily login numbers are estimations based on subscriber numbers and online sentiment."
Doesn't seem to be that reliable a metric!
Edit: Ninja'd !
Well no, because steam charts look at actual player activity on the steam games. It's a real metric for the steam playerbase...Steam Charts are no more reliable than "Online Sentiment"
The truth is, nobody but FD really knows the health of the game. To speculate on it is to simply project either your pessimism or optimism on numbers you do not and can not fully understand.
The Steam charts are the only real contemporary data we have. It represents a statistically signignificant proportion of all players. The Steam players are no different to other players. If 75% of all Steam players that were playing immediately after EDO release are no longer playing, we can make the reasonable assumption that around 75% of all players are no longer playing, and if there are the lowest number of Steam players playing since Oct 2019, we can deduce that there is also the lowest number of all players playing since Oct 2019.That's not a great metric of player count either. You can't tell that from that metric. They maybe playing less, but still playing..as they are playing less, the concurrent numbers will go down. The Steam charts are the only real contemporary data we have. The data in the OP is completely misrepresenting the present situation. It's not clear at all what time-scales are involved and probably includes data from May when the highest number of players ever were playing immediately after EDO release, but, according to the Steam chart, many of those players soon stopped playing and the total number per day has ramped down rapidly and is presently decreasing at the rate of approximately 10% per week.
