EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

You probably had some sort of error that interrupted the populating. It populates that list regardless of where it thinks ED.exe is

Love the profiler, well done!

I've been looking for a quick faq doc on what some of the options in the profiler actually do - like, next to Terrain Quality, what does the "Work" slider do? Thanks!

Great tool and thanks. I had to play without VR the other day, so this was very useful, but it was awful without VR. I kept turning my head to look around, it just felt wrong.

Well that's just written inside the game itself when you highlight a setting, on the right :)

If you want to play non-VR occasionally (I still do, for screenshots, videos, fuel ratting and just reminding myself how beautiful the graphics can really look) then having some form of head tracking (e.g. TrackIR 5) makes the transition far more bearable.

Hey there Dr Kaii...

I've been using the switcher (with zero issues. :)) but only for the increased model draw distance. No VR. How did you manage to achieve this ? I can't locate any game files that increase it ?

Update.....found the settings, all good.

Hi Dr Kaii,

Thanks for the amazing tool. Just some feedback for you on installation. I have had this working fine but when I did the update to 2.2.2.2 for Windows 10 I found that clicking on the shortcut "EDProfiler - 1" did nothing at all. Even deleting everything in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0 and reinstalling didn't fix it. Eventually I found that if you go into the properties of the actual EDProfiler.exe there is a tickbox for "unBlock" and if you tick this (to give it your seal of approval) then everything works fine. I find that this unblock is associated with untrusted files that you have downloaded via the internet or the network. Usually it only causes an extra "do you really want to run this" prompt. I did try "Run as administrator" but it still didn't work which surprised me. Just something that might help others, not sure if this can be fixed easily or not.

Yeah I hate that, I just turn it off altogether via http://winaero.com/blog/disable-downloaded-files-from-being-blocked-in-windows-10/ (I think, I did it years ago)

Nothing I can do on my end, you're right. Thanks for the tip, if someone has the issue, I'll ask them to try that

Would love to know what the "Work" slider does?

It says in game what all the settings do. I believe work is how much processing power is allotted to generating terrain. With a good GPU, turn it to max and the terrain will load at its fastest. If you are getting stuttering on planets, turn it down and the terrain will generate slower, but you will get improved performance

drkaii - can I ask whether Ed Profiler does anything in regard to the in-game cursor setting? I keep setting it to "OS Cursor" 'cos I like a smaller more responsive cursor but it keeps switching back to one of the other settings. I see this isn't wired out to the ED Profiler GUI but have you perhaps got a hardcoded value that you accidentally (or maybe deliberately) overwrite the setting with?

Nope, I actually wanted to, but I couldn't find the setting for that in the config files so I never implemented it. There is a field in the profile xml for it, but it doesn't do anything (yet)

Thank you :)

Speaking of which, 2.3 is coming soon, so if there are any graphical changes I will be updating the profiler. When I do I might as well add some more features, so if you have a feature request, please email me: kaii@dr.com

People who have donated in the past will get priority. Obviously, no guarantees about anything but I would definitely like some ideas.

Dr. Kaii

At the moment, it doesn't fit on my screen. I can scroll up and down, which is a bit of a pain, but I'm still missing a bit at the bottom. Is there any way to resize the window?

I'm not sure what you are saying. You can scroll up and down, meaning you have resized the window, but you are still missing the bottom? Try shrinking it (from the top) even more and moving it up

Yeah, works for me. :) Grab one of the top corners to shrink the launcher, and then grab elsewhere at the top to pull the whole launcher up. Scroll from there. :)

Ok, I can see the bottom bit by scrolling, but when I see other people's screenshots, the whole thing can be seen from top to bottom without scrolling.

My display is set to 3840 x 2160. When I use Voice attack, the dialogue boxes are so small that I can't read them. I'm surprised that this one is so big.

You must be running a text size larger than 100%, yes? Dialing it down to 100% should fix it for you (but make everything else smaller also). I just live with scaling the doctors launcher. :)

Please post a screenshot, I really am not sure what you are seeing.
