EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

Hi,

some graphics options did change, for example bloom is now all the way to ultra but edprofiler goes only to high, also detect settings is throwing an error
posted the details to pm.

The error I think is because if you set bloom to ultra, edp does not have a clue what to do with it, as setting it to high in game, makes the error go away on detecting settings

Thanks! Didn't notice that one. Went through the rest of the settings too but that was the only new setting I could find.

Just released an update that should include this, as well as do away with your error message.

If you can't open EDP cos of the error message, please reinstall.

That was fast !!!!

I am not sure if this is the right place to post, and at some risk of appearing stupid, but how do I use the EDP settings I have made if I need to start the game from steam library (start in VR) and then select horizons?

Very minor thing, but is it possible to get a checkbox for the "Disable Idle Hand Animation" setting? I like having it off in VR, but enabled on my monitor.

edit: DisableIdleHandAnimations element in Player\Custom.misc

Custom Resolutions

Hey guys. Searching high and low and cant figure out how to use a custom resolution in ED.

My setup = 3 Dell U3014 monitors in an ultra wide cockpit setup. Each is 2560x1600 (16:10) so all three create a 7680x1600 (48:10)desktop.
If I use nvida surround I can get ED to use all 3 but nvidia surround really messes up the desktop and switching back and fourth is a mess. takes forever.

Trying to get ED to use resolution of 7680x1520 in borderless windowed mode. That way I can still see the task bar and don't need to use nvida surround. I created a profile with the EDprofiler for 7680x1520. When the game loads it starts a black window at the 7680x1520 resolution but then switches it back to 2560x1440. The highest I can select in ED graphics options is 2560x1600. EDProfiler shows a couple additonal 4K resolutions so I was thinking it would be able to handle other resolutions.

How do I set a custom resolution? I know the game is capable of 7680x1600 as it runs fine at that resolution if I configure my displays as nvidia surround. Prefer not to do that as that setup causes all sorts of issues with non-gamming applications. switching back and fourth, as I said, is a major pain.

Appreciate any help,

Hey drkaii, can't remember if you've talked about this sort of thing before but Morbad (among others) has been posting some absolute gold over here ..

Graphics-settings-Beyond-Ultra

.. about tweaks to GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml (including general quality improvements, some stuff about tone maps and even how to revert the lighting model pretty much back to pre-Q4 for those that prefer it that way). Anyway, I wondered if you'd be at all interested in incorporating some of those things into EDProfiler to make them a bit more accessible? (and huge apologies if you already have, I don't explore what EDProfiler is capable of nearly as much as I should).

Anyway, if you are then Morbad is happy to help and answer any questions you might have about what some of those settings do and recommendations on which settings to change.

Another feature request: User account switching.

The current username and tokens for automatic login are stored in %localappdata%\Frontier_Developments\EDLaunch.exe_Url_<possible hash of exe location?>\<launcher version>\user.config. Would be nice to have a quick switch between users as part of a profile.

This can actually be sorted very simply.

I have taken the ed launcher.exe copied it to another file called 'edlaunch -commandername1.exe' and 'edlaunch -commandername2.exe'

Then I just click the appropriate desktop shortcut.
Each login is stored separately.

I am not sure, does it have a different launcher? Can you locate that launcher? If so try right clicking the Launcher button in EDProfiler and selecting that path, then rightclicking it from then on instead of leftclicking

I could certainly include it, let me put it on the list.

Hi, i think you are asking in the wrong place, not likely to get an answer here (I certainly don't know, sorry!)

Same ---^ Works well. :)

Whilst it would be nice to have that feature integrated into EDP, while we wait you could use EDLaunchPad.

a small thing, just a typo on the tooltip, still present in today's update

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked a lot, but I haven't found an answer just yet. The button for the Tone Mapper check box is greyed out and I cannot open the Tone Mapping menu. I can select options in the drop down, but because I can't "apply" them using the check box, nothing happens. What can I do to fix this?

Edit: Nevermind, looks like it was disabled.

I have the same issue . Can't use the tone mapping, because the option is greyed out and i can't enable it. Bug ?

I have just made copies of the EDlaunch.exe in the same folder, as I'm sure you guessing.

This does mean they take up another 2.8MB per commander of space on my harddrive, then again that's less than 6MB..

Anyhoo.

I have just tested since I had nothing better to do instead of using a straight copy of the file, by using a symlink to the EDlaunch.exe.

And this works basically I just browsed to "C:\EDlaunch" in an admin CMD shell, and used "mklink "EDlaunch - TorTorden.exe" EDlaunch.exe.

A benefit of this is this shouldn't need updating the individual launcher files when FD updates.

If you are adding this as a feature into EDprofiler I would personally go with the route of symlinks rather than a copy since it is the slightly more elegant option.

Okay:

A bit to fast on the trigger there, but it seems the symlinks does not work as intended.
Could try a hardlink.

Yes that's why. Also, I just tried fiddling around with the new settings for a while but haven't been able to get Tone Maps working again. So yeah, looks like that was a nice thing while it lasted! I'll keep trying as always and feel free to email community@frontier.co.uk to ask them POLITELY to bring it back
