************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Came here to say that I really really love the 3.2 update, the extra settings are a fantastic addition to EDProfiler!

The only one that I seem to be missing is this one:

That is often recommended to be increased together with the GalaxyBackground -> TextureSize. Other than that everything that I'm using is already in there.

I've been using EDProfiler for a couple of months now but hadn't posted in this thread before so let me say thank you for creating and maintaining it, it definitely took a lot of guesswork and hard work out of finding the optimal graphic settings!
Thanks, will try and work that in sometime soon
Nice feature video from Obsidian Ant ...
I know, awesome
more specifically, I'm looking for tips to drastically reduce the pond murk and cigarette smoke that's all over, without reducing ship interior contrast. (the spilled cafe-au-lait all over the Milky Way can stay). In addition, to decompress the brightness range of stars, and to have max visible magnitude of around 8.5, when 100 A.U. or so from a brown dwarf primary, degrading appropriately in proximity to light interference. Thanks for any help on this!
Well the "realistic Very Dark.." one makes the sky BLACK, no pond murk at all, without touching ship interiors or stars or anything bright enough. It's not great in the bubble as it can blank out the textures of buildings/stations when they get below a threshold tone, so I suggest using Dr. Kaii's one in the bubble, maybe you can start there and try and find a happy medium. Dr. Kaii's one gets rid of most of the murk anyway, but not all. As for your second request, increasing the number of stars visible is the only way I can think of changing the magnitude limit, but I read that it doesn't work properly as it doesn't actually use the apparent magnitude, but the grouping of stars in the stellar forge or something, so I don't recommend it. Either way the settings are all there to play with in "Extra settings". AFAIK there's no way to adjust the lighting of stars IN SYSTEM, so your brown dwarf wishes shall go unfulfilled (as will mine...let's hope the new lighting system addresses some of these issues in 3.3)

Interesting! What Tone Map is selected before you click the button to open the tool? Can you send your GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml to me? It's found at C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\graphics

email me kaii@dr.com

No worries mate, figured it out! Brilliant work as usual

No worries mate, figured it out! Brilliant work as usual

I would imagine it's crashing because the tone map selected before opening the tool is somehow messed up, so please send that to me, kaii@dr.com and I can figure that out, and add an exception handler to the program so it doesn't happen in future.

New update! Overspark, your setting is added. See the changes below:

3.2.0.6 is a quick update that does a couple of things:

Extra Settings
A new setting has been added, submitted by forum user Overspark: GalaxyBackground QualitySetting under <Environment>!

CMDR Logs
1. Added a new context menu option: you can now copy the name of the system to clipboard

2. The merging was broken because rightclicking would deselect your other logs, fixed

3. Pop out and open .txt file will now open all selected if you have more than one selected

4. When "screenshot" is ticked, and you click on the link of a screenshot, it will actually also copy that screenshot to clipboard, so you can paste it online/in a messenger etc.

5. Added the first (and still ONLY) ever submitted Tone Map! Jay Le Chardon v1

DrKaii i tried GalaxyBackground QualitySetting and it says that my GraphicsConfiguration.Xml is corrupt. Any fix ?

Can anyone recommend the "extra settings" best values to max visual quality for planet texture and galaxy background (new option in the recent ver)
and anything else you can recommend.

EDProfiler does not apply settings

Hello,

unfortunately EDProfiler does not apply my ingame graphic settings I made in the app. It does not even readout the ingame settings correctly when I click "detect current settings".

What I already tried is to
+ delete the ED Graphics folder
+ delete the EDProfiler folder
+ reinstall EDProfiler

What am I doing wrong? Could anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

This is a great tool but would it be possible to put in something so more than one CMDr can be used (2 accounts on 1 PC and owned by me)?

I know there are workarounds to use the same install but maybe it would be possible using this tool?

Will the upcoming 4.0 update overwrite the current tonemap EDProfiler has set? If not, how do I undo or remove what EDProfiler is doing so I'm getting the "vanilla" 4.0 graphics?

Trying to tweak my graphics settings for my Vive. It seems that when I use anything but the default VR Medium profile things begin to "lag" when flying by a planetary body. By lag I mean the planet seems to microjump from frame to frame. However, I show no dropped frames in the log tool I use and average FPS is around 87.5.

To keep this simple, which settings are the most taxing and what are some common settings for an 8700K paired with a Strix 1070? I'd like to get better detail on the planets and have things seem less blurry.

The Elite Default Filmic Tone Map is vanilla. There's also one called vanilla as I thought that might confuse some people

What would be cool for those of us that mess things up editing, Is a setting that maxes the game out i.e planet textures, Nebulas etc...

Can't get back to VR

Hi - I've been playing E:D in VR happily for a month or so on a PC with the Rift. I've been able to start the game by simply clicking on the E:D launcher icon in the taskbar, then hitting the big PLAY button to launch Horizons. This brings up a smallish window on the pc, showing the logo at first, and then the vr view of the hanger. I can then put on the HMD, and select menu items.

Today I tried EDProfiler, and without launching the game made a couple of profiles with thnigs like HUD colour changes, tone maps, etc.

Then I thought I'd try to see what it was like on the desktop (since I've only seen it in VR) and selected Default 2D profile, checked the No VR box, and clicked on Launch Elite. That looked fine, new hud colours looked good, and it all confirmed to me that I should get back to VR rather than stay in 2D. So... I quit out, closed everything down, then tried to launch from the Profiler using the VR profile, and leaving the 'No VR' box unchecked. I can't get back into VR no matter what I try... I've deleted the saved profiles, I've tried launching from ED Profiler, but no matter what I do the game launches to the desktop, with a picture of a planet with an SRV. If I put on the Rift I just see a blurry box with an elite logo, and "Elite Dangerous64 loading..."

I've tried changing the graphics settings from the desktop, but altering resolution does nothing except change the size of the window, and the only 3D options I see are 3D separation and 3D focal distance... nothing about selecting HMD.

Have I missed something? Messed something up? At the moment I can't get VR when launching from ED profiler, from clicking on icon in taskbar, or from selecting it from Oculus home. HELP!
