Elite Anacondas - Easy pickings?

Normally I take out Elite Condas with a popping a few shield cells... Last death I had from one was a dumb mistake (I went for a head on pass and got nailed by the plasma accelerator... 350k in bounties down the drain :( )

So they've got a softer underbelly eh? I'll keep that in mind.

Their underbelly also contains their power plant, just forward of their engines. In my experiences, its their weakest area. If targeted correctly (with proper positioning) you can pop the ship with even 40% hull left. Using your thrusters and controlling your throttle, you can roll with the anaconda such that you are always hitting them belly side. Eventually you will fall out of position, but not without doing a ton of damage first. Once that happens all pips to engine and dance with it until you have rear position again.

Forum warriors say a lot of things to inflate their egos. As always, pics (videos) or it didnt happen.

Is it possible to beat an elite conda in a Viper? Yes. Is it too easy? Most definitely not.

This is how most of my anaconda fights go...

This looks much more like an Elite Anaconda. At least it fires back!

Shield Cells really seem to make a huge diff, since for 3/4 of the fight you don't need a single pip in the shields. Focussing on thrusters/weapons clearly makes it easier to get the shields down (And it seems to be the main difficulty against an Anaconda)

I'll try a few different setups later (With Shield Cells, and with C2 lasers / C1 MC instead of C2 MC / C1 lasers, to get the shields down faster)

Thanks for the video!

I'm doing the same over the next few days, see if I can get the hang of this.

Oddly enough I never have any issues with the ships ASPs and smaller, regardless of there ranking - looks like something about the way a fly the ship lends itself to taking on the smaller vessels.

In saying that - I rarely encounter other players, and have had barely any PvP encounters dispite always being in openplay. I may have to turn to piracy just to get someone to shoot at me.

If you can, definitely use Missile launchers, dumb fire versions, hitting things such as anacondas/clippers etc with a full salvo is an easy 10-15% Hull, sometimes more.

Yeah i used to use 5 on my ASP for giggles. It was ridiculous how easy it was to smash a Conda. They are pretty cheap now as well...

Try shield cells/2x main multicannon/2x dumbfire missile setup. :)

How many shield cells do you do through in the average fight?

I am flying a 1,5mill viper loaded with cannons. I Only need cheatcells when I make mistakes. I guess my average is 1-2 per elite conda.

I'd say they should buff the difficulty on the assassination missions, but tell the targets combat rank from the mission text.

This is how I make my cash.

it's pretty easy; started in a viper with upgraded powerplant and distrib.

takes a few mins with 2xBL 2xG MC.

All guns are low rank.

Any CMDRs about Sorbago know of a system near by that sells better weapons?

Honestly I think they're about perfect where they're at. I'd like to see harder missions, maybe throw in a viper so you can't farm like some of the videos we've seen, but I'd hope those were worth more. I also think that harder missions with large rewards would give inventive for both larger ships and groups of friends, call it short term end game of you want. I mean that's what we're actually missing right, big epically hard content that encourages groups?

Back on point... If people want to farm them using shield cells, more power to them. Personally it doesn't take me half that long to take them out, and I usually burn 1 or 2 cells. Not a great pilot by any means, but I fly my butt off rather than constantly "pop potions". How've, this is currently a great way to make money for a decent amount of risk, I'd hate to see it nerfed. Nor do I think shield cells need a nerf, you give up a LOT of utility to equip that many shield cells. I can't imagine how boring finding assassinations must be without an interdictor and warrant scanner, more power to them.

Not that I can actually kill em, but I'm still not sure it's worth the time visiting USS to track em down, I can currently pull in about 100k per 20-30 minutes parked at a low sec resource site popping pirate Cobras every few minutes for 12-15k. There's a particularly good one near Summarland, forget the system name but it's only a single jump away. You also get bonus clippers and Conda's that are much easier to take down a RES sites, and they add significatly to your income.

So far it's the quickist way I've found to make cash off bounties. If I can learn how to kill USS Mission Condas quickly maybe that'll change but you still have to factor in the time it takes to visit all the USS's.

After I got wasted twice the last days in my Cobra by a Conda I´m doing the same to get some more combat flight practice and when I have to reload my multis I have about 200k on bounties to collect without jumping around from USS to USS.

As a couple of others have said...Dumbfires. Dumfires all the way

use the first ten seconds (while they are making threats etc) to kws and position yourself top/bottom on then let rip at about 500m. two full salvos (depending on how many you miss) and most pythons/condas will just disintegrate. No such thing as 'fighting fair' in space

It is at least partially balanced by ammo costs (about 30-40k to completely rearm my cobra) small ammo reserves (i.e. You need to go rearm for that 30-40k after each engagement) and you are completely unsuited to fighting anything else

Why would you want to fix this at all? its the only combat mission that seems to work properly and the only one that pays enough credits to make it remotely worth while, grinding money in this game is boring without being forced to grind the silly 20k credit kill missions that are bugged to hell and constantly throw branches at you that you can't even seem to refuse.

Maybe you didn't know, but Anacondas aren't outfitted all the same. Even if it is "Elite", that's just the AI difficulty. If it has a crap fit, like the pulse lasers and plasma accelerators I see in the videos in this thread, then yes they are easy.

Try an Elite Anaconda with an all-beam fit without system authority support, and come tell me they are easy in a viper or cobra, however many shield cells you have.
