Patch Notes Update Elite: Dangerous 1.2.07 incoming

Level 1= systems visited
Level 2= bodies within systems scanned (Discovery scanner)
Level 3= bodies within systems scanned (Detailed Surface scanner)

I think ;)

This still doesn't work as one of the numbers is showing up as 0. I've sold 10 mil of data in the past and this was using Adv Discovery Scanner and Detail Scanner, pinging every system as I went. The number for either cannot be 0.

uhh when im firing and a npc scrapes across the front of my vulture while im firing and i get a stupid bounty thats called a problem with ai not with a dangerous ranked cmdr

Perfect AI would do anything that a real player would do and be indistinguishable

Could I fly right in front of you while you are firing - yes I can, what a bout an NPC - thats what an NPC can and will do, AI is perfect

If you shoot me even with one multicannon round while i have full shields and dont even knock me down one ring will I get really really angry and go after you with an absolute vengance - even jumping back in when i die to ambush you when you least expect me to - yes thats what I will do what about AI - Oh hang on the NPC doesnt do that its forgiving of us humans if we mess up - AI is imperfect

So on the basis that perfect AI is indistinguisahable from a real player the problem is not in their ability to fly in front of your guns but the fact that they let you off shooting at them

Ozric, I'm sorry mate, but I'm afraid you're a little bit wrong. You get WANTED status for landing a shot on a clean or unscanned ship (not killing), and this is regardless of what faction they are affiliated with (e.g. I have accidentally clipped a green allied system authority in my Cobra with multicannons, and immediately had all the system authority turn red on me to collect my 200cr bounty, in an instant, regardless of the pirate with the 45k bounty right in front of them). I am pretty sure this is working as intended, but it'd be interesting if not as I'd be happy to report a bug next time it happens if necessary.

You can also argue that 'You should be more careful with your dangerous guns' and that would be a fair argument and you'd be right of course. Perhaps the coppers should be more careful jumping around in front of people who are shooting dangerous guns too. An example of when this can happen in an unpreventable way is when I am attacking from one side, while the copper is attacking from the other, and I cant even see him until he pops out from behind the Anaconda, and my bullets are already on their way to his windscreen. I'm taking shots from him too, remember.

I don't think this is the actual problem, and this is an intriguing solution to a problem I can't think of, which doesn't mean there isn't one. My guess is that's its got something to do with anti-griefing of some sort, I have no idea.

Maybe you shouldn't get WANTED status for clipping a clean ship, but just a fine at first, then a larger fine, and if you continue to deliver blows and you take out their shields, then it turns into a WANTED status and a fair sized bounty, and then if you cause x% damage you get a bigger bounty, and then if you continue to kill them you get an enormous bounty? I really don't know, I only play the game, I don't design it and I can barely write code.

Luckily its just a game, and if I now have to leave my wingmates to find an outpost or whatever to pay off a measly bounty for some accidental paintwork damage, then so be it. My world will not stop turning, but it will be a little less fun.

Thanks for the other updates ;)

:D

Can you say then that you are fully aware of where you are flying, when a ship overshoots you and you flip around to chase him, are you sure you're not flying into other ships line of fire ;) Anyhow like I said the Friendly Fire thread is over there somewhere I've done my tour there and fortunately, unlike in the army, I can choose not to go back :p I'm not sure if you're experienced this since 1.2 but what you described should not be able to happen. An incremental damage threshold system was put in place and it was working. The bit about all the authority turning on you straight away I agree is harsh, but I think it's to stop potential exploits/griefing more than anything else. All what you have said is discussed there along with Sarah Jane's evil plans for the future

Limpets still read "Illegal in jurisdiction" on cargo canisters in space. Even in Anarchy systems

scooping them it says "illegal"

I think the Vulture is standing right on a very sharp blade's edge, right now. It's an already very min-maxxed ship, with low speed for a fighter-class, less hardpoints than an Eagle but able to equip those whopping twin Class 3 Beam Lasers while being more maneuverable than a Sidewinder. If it gets any nerf, it'll probably go from "favourite Viper upgrade" to "that ship that no one buys".

The fact it doesn't have any pretty colors to differentiate it doesn't help that much either >.>

I don't think they'll nerf the Vulture, it still has 2 major and one minor drawback as far as I'm concerned, it's actually quite slow (major) , it's shields take an eternity to recharge (major) and the fuel tank is like a thimble (minor). Overall, combined with the power limitations it's a very well balanced ship in my opinion.

Thanks for the update.

It would be really cool if you could put in the patch notes how big the update actually is. Then I know if I have to download it at work before taking it home on an SD card or if I can get away with downloading at home where the internet is rubbish.

I scanned through looking for Developer posts, so I apologize if someone else already asked or answered this, but is there a comment on the massive presence of Security Forces everywhere, including Anarchy RES?

It's been over a month now and it's really holding me back from playing in Anarchy systems and is currently making RES' farming extremely easy.

I don't think they will either and I certainly hope they don't. It's a strong fighter, but has power issues that require management. As a combat ship, it's fantastic, as anything else, it's complete garbage. Does exactly what it's supposed to.

Also has a very vulnerable canopy

Two of those drawbacks are shared with the Viper, actually: slow shield recovery (even with class A Power Coupling and 4 pips in Systems) and dismal fuel tank (4T, half the capacity of the Vulture). In the mid-to-high mobility class fighters, I think only the Sidewinder and the Eagle have a fast shield recovery, unless you use shield cells.

Yet both the Eagle and the Viper have nice paint packs T_T

My exploration statistics show 0 under level 3 scans. If this meant to refer to the detailed surface scanner then the numbers are not correct.

I am returning today with over 200,000,000 cr worth of exploration data to sell. Ambiguity over changes to exploration numbers does not fill me with confidence.

Michael, is there any reason I should hold off on selling this data today?

Could other value changes have taken place that may negatively affect exploration data selling?

If I get back after this long exploring and half of my data is gone, or cartographics wants to sell it at a fraction of what it should be or any other bug that ruins this entire journey I swear I am instantly uninstalling this game, no drama, no long "I quit" posts, just quietly and permanently finished.

The stats fix has nothing to do with selling data.

Michael

Or maybe fix the AI

I already stop shooting if there are friendlies near my target.

But that still doesnt stop a friendly close to me suddenly boosting into my LoF

Or should i just stop shooting altogether while there are friendlies around. Great Game

Agree it's a great game. The friendly fire thing has been a non issue for months for most semi competent bounty hunters. There is a damage/hit threshold when you accidentally shoot a friendly ship. If the player keeps firing then of course a bounty/wanted level is deserved.

If you're struggling with this try watching some YouTube vids or twitch streams. The vast majority you'll see players grinding out kills for over an hour with zero friendly fire issues.

It has been established that what you have described is not what i am describing. Most likely a bug as there appears to be no threshold at times.

And i disagree that this is a great game.
The game atm, is rather shallow. The potential is there for a great game and if they manage to put half of what they promised into the game then it will be a great game
