Elite Dangerous | 10 Year Personalised Journey Emails

I'm going for a guess the radio silence is because nothing is going to be done if no one received it and the blame will be put on what the customer did or did not tick . Nothing more to see here as usual. If you have got it then fine but if you haven't nothing to see here move along is probably the attitude we should take .

The condition for receiving the email was having signed up to the newsletter.

So basically it's "you didn't let us spam you, so no email for you".

More like "you didn't consent to letting us send you mails, so no email for you".

There may be some other issue involved because according to this thread a lot of people who did subscribe to newsletters also didn't get any. Or maybe only certain countries are affected, because laws are different.

Like others, I assumed the e-mails had stopped ages ago. This is at least the fourth time I've had to sign up for them, despite having used the same e-mail every time and never unsubscribing from them. I mean what more do I have to do???
I've tried resubscribing many times over the years, and with additional email addresses too (including a gmail), but the newsletters - which stopped years ago - have never resumed for me.

Initially I thought my ISPs must have a hidden tier of spam-blocking where they're confident enough to not even send them to the Suspected-Spam folder, because I had resubscribed so the newsletters must be being sent right? But reading this thread it sounds like something is going wrong at the FDev end and there's nothing I can do?

Whichever poor sod dreamt up this (lovely) idea is no doubt heartily regretting it now :-/
Probably, but even if the 10-year-anniversary email had never been done, I'm still after a way to get the newsletter subscription working again

The anniversary email difficulty seems to be caused by (and drawing some attention to) a long-running issue that has been plaguing people for years

Well, looks like Frontier didn't even know there was a problem. I'm sure it's in their interest to fix it to get their marketing material out there.

This 'problem' has been a net gain for FDev. They created a compelling reason for people to tick that 'marketing emails' tick box, they now have a higher portion of their accountbase signed up than before.

That those people who want the newsletter but not the spam are not getting the newsletters either is an issue for those people, not for FDev marketing.

I subscribed to everything, but I didn't even know there was meant to be a newsletter until I saw references to it on these forums. I raised a support ticket and then #355 and #356 arrived without incident, followed by nothing. Another support ticket, then #363 and #364 arrived on schedule. Nothing since. Didn't bother raising another ticket, something is severely borked.

I would agree if it was the odd one or two people unfortunately it seems to be a more widespread issue where some folk have ticked but not getting anything ? So I don't think it's just a Pebkac( problem exists between keyboard and chair ) . I have a recollection some years back where we had the same issue ?? So it could be one of those endearing things that Elite does ??

even sending mails requires some resources, so maybe they just went to people who spent enough arx :p

Heh, if that were the case I should still be getting newsletters :)
(And on top of the microtransactions I also have the Lifetime Expansion Pass, though I concede that free newsletters are not paid expansions :) )

There's a problem regardless. I never changed any spam settings, I was getting the newsletters fine then one day years ago they just stopped, and no matter how I try to subscribe or check spam filters, they've never resumed.

I assumed at the time that my ISP was going behind my back with more aggressive filtering than they claim, but another ISP later with no difference and others having the same problem, now it looks to me like a FDev issue, not something that can be resolved at my end

The newsletter periodically reminds us about Elite while we're off playing other games and keeps us in the loop so that interesting events will pull us back in. When we're playing is when we're spending (buying Arx) so I would think the newsletter is one of the more important pieces of marketing, so an issue for FDev marketing as well as players.

Yes the situation would undoubtedly be even better if the issue with newsletter delivery were fixed but still, more people have signed up to receive emails than before & very few people became more annoyed than they were by anything other than realising they missed out. Overall it's a win.

I wouldn't have even realised I'd missed out if I didn't already check the forum for info about the game I'm interested in receiving news about.

IME, newsletter #317 dated 07/05/2021 for context. Sender: Elite Dangerous <Newsletter@email.elitedangerous.com>

I know this because they (almost) all auto-archived all the way back to newsletter #22 dated 09/05/2014. Sender: varied.

Tbh, when this thread originally raised I figured it was my own doing for clicking to unsub the F1 Manager emails as it hit final release ~08/03/2022 when I concluded it ain't for me. However, I see today that the Galnet-Marketing newsletters actually stopped of their own volition almost a year earlier!

Surprised to learn, like other Cmdrs, that the newsletters were never discontinued, I needlessly checked my manual junk filters. Re-signup as a point of interest has made zero 'marketing' difference btw @fdev - I still only get the forum-catchup & support ticket emails. Perhaps clearing your fines will restore all Starport Services?

So there's no chance to get this email now? Very unfortunate, considering I never unsubbed, been a backer since beta and I've had no issues getting Arx receipts supporting new game skins, ships, etc.

So, what’s the status on this one? Did anyone get the mail after the first batch? Has anyone gotten anything in January? I’m really interested in this, but don’t really know how to get it? Is it to late now or what? 😳

Is it to late now or what? 😳
Judging by the last paragraph of the first post, I suspect they're going to attempt another wave but take their time with it, so it could be weeks away.

(I haven't heard of any 2025 emails happening already. That's hardly a reliable indicator though, but sign up if you haven't already, I think it could still happen. However it also sounds like there will be a probably-unknown-to-us cutoff date well ahead of when(if) the email goes out)

So, what’s the status on this one?
Ongoing.
Did anyone get the mail after the first batch?
I haven’t received it so far, I am one of the ones the newsletter kept stopping for.
Has anyone gotten anything in January?
Not that they have mentioned here, so if they have they aren’t on the forums.

Try following the subscription instruction in the OP and hope.
