The Apocalypse is near!!!

Well done.To help players find crafting resources, UI's displaying Engineer recipes now have a 'tooltip' for each ingredient
"
- Added in a greater variety of commodities to the POIs so the players see something other than tea"
lol
This is a rather nice balance change too due to the new more valuable things you can potentially find.
These types of POIs have gone from "*sigh* I might as well pick it up then..." to "Whoa! Jackpot! Gimme!".![]()
Yeah it did, you just couldn't see it coz you haven't got "show extensions for known file types" turned on. All the extensions are still there but windows hides them by default, but I started using PC's under DOS 3.0 and I miss them when I can't see them.Where are the .part and .progress files? From the names I'd guess they're download manager files for partly downloaded updates.
Cmdr Marc_Hicks has very kindly emailed me not only the data.ovl I was having problems with but two more than he'd had problems with too. I put the first one in and was able to get the download to continue then had issues with the second one he sent me. Have since replaced that with HIS version and the download's continuing just fine again now... and I'm just waiting for the third one he sent to cause me problems. *SURPRISE* It just popped up while I was typing that, and it WAS the same one he'd had problems with. I've just restarted the download and it's working fine again as expected.
The interesting thing about this is it proves that it's not just some random isp or router induced error. If we've BOTH had problems with the SAME three files then it HAS to be something at FDev's end coz that's the ONLY common element. Download's about half finished, Will watch with interest to see how the rest of it goes.

- Could still be an issue with ISP (Optus in my case) or how E : D interacts with said ISP AND the kit the ISP hands out
- Got my upgrade to complete successfully by:
- Virtual cache _OFF_ and virtualcache.xml removed
- Disconnect from my 'default' router (Netgear CG3000) which is connected to Optus Cable
- Connect to my 4G Wireless broadband 'router' which is connected to Telstra
- McAfee 'Real Time Scanning' _OFF_ for 15 mins
- 'alternative download method'
- One other quirk if you're using McAfee for your firewall:
- In "internet connections for programs", try turning off "Net Guard" for your E : D launcher exe for the duration of the update
- I just successfully finalised update to beta 4 from my steam installation doing that
- BTW 'Real Time Scanning' was _enabled_
...And realistically we shouldn't HAVE to go to these measures to download a game - this isn't the 1990's.
Yeah it did, you just couldn't see it coz you haven't got "show extensions for known file types" turned on.
If only. Every single time there's an update I have to go through this. Ironicaly only once out of the four Betas so far, but prior to the Beta, every single time. Its not downloading a game... its downloading a beta.
