Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One Beta FAQ

Edit: in reply to a previous post.

It would be nuts if the beta went live and paused the live game until the beta is finished.

ALL previous betas have run in parallel with the live game. You select Live or beta in the launcher. And just to add, NOTHING you do in the beta carries over to live, so go nuts testing.

Due to the up and coming Engineer changes, when the Beta goes live, are all the Engineering blueprints going to be available at any Engineer for Fish like they have been in previous Betas, or will they remain more consistent for live progression?

Will everyone who partakes in the beta be given access to all the engineers for testing?

Also will everything cost 10% of its usual price?

Hi i have a question, i believe sandro might have said that there will be secondary effects for non-weapon modules, is this true?

I own a copy of Elite Dangerous for the PS4. Would this allow me to try the beta on my Mac or PC even though I don't own a ED on those platforms? No worries if the answer is "no", I'm just curious.

Unfortunately not old duck, but I'll pass along this idea as feedback for the future :)

You don't have a mod or dev icon / color. How do you know this with such certainty? Even if past betas have worked this way I couldn't just assume that this one will, too.

I'd also like to know if the beta will co-exist with the live game.

Hey Skinwalker,

Genar-Hofoen is correct in this instance :)

The beta will be accessible at the same time as the live game within the scrollable menu on the launcher so you're welcome to chop and change between which you're playing, just remember to be sure which one you've logged in to! As for getting back, self-destruction (IN THE BETA) is the quickest and easiest way to get back. :)

The beta will co-exist with the livegame however none of your beta progress will carry over.

Thanks!

I've installed Elite in the Oculus store... there is any specific procedure for joining the beta?

If you open the spoiler in my first post, you'll see the instructions for installing the beta. You can do this via the games launcher (which I believe still loads when you open the game from Oculus Home - correct me if I'm wrong, been a while!) or via steam now :) IF you run into any trouble, simply get in touch with our support team who'll get you right on track :)

I'll have to check on both of these points in the morning to be sure :)

Hi
Is there going to be any Beta "phase II" to regress the bugs reported during the testing? After the Beta for "The return" ended I think this part was missing. The whole gameplay experience could benefit from this and might spare some hot patches ;)

Hello everyone!....

Looking forward to seeing some these updates. Like the Eng'ing, as i call it,(engineering). From what i have seen, the newer version looks more easier to understand and use. I couldnt really understand what i was getting the way it is currently.
Planets update, this is a HUGE plus from me :)
crime and punishment, im not sure on as yet, will have to watch the uploads to find what was changed.
But, for the most part, im excited :)

Hi, I have just a little question for mods or advanced players :
If I join the beta, will I have to download the update a second time when it goes live, or just the fixes of the beta ?

Unfortunately I don't have a fast internet... (but I have awesome landscape :D !)

Could we maybe, pretty please, with some sugar on top, have the download (and patch notes!) available before 8am CET?
You know, so that I can remote to my home computer from work and fire it up so that it's finished before I get home and can jump right in (and skip sleep!) [yesnod]
Also, patch notes plx! I need something to do besides reddit while I'm ... *ahem* ... "Working". :D

How will material gathering be in beta? I want to play with new mods but I don't have a whole lot of materials to work with (PC account is secondary to my Xbox account)

Thank you sir. [up]

I wouldn't expect progress to carry over.

I'm in the same boat and in the past the FDev launcher seems to use whatever files it can from the beta versions when the live version comes out. I'm uncertain if the initial beta download re-uses files from the 2.4 versions though. If not I'm guessing I'll have an 8 hour wait if the size I need to download is 16 gigs.
