Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One Beta FAQ

[h=1]How do Beta Savegames work?[/h]Updated: Thursday 25th January 2018
If you've decided to join us with one of our Beta tests there are a couple of things that you should be aware of in regards to your save.

 • If you've already played Elite Dangerous then we will make a copy of your CMDR save onto the test server.
 • This copy can be taken from some time ago and may not represent progress you have made over the last few days or even weeks. So you may find yourself in another location and in another ship.
 • No progress from the test servers is saved and at the end of the test these characters are wiped.
 • Anything you do on the test server will not affect your main character in way way.
 • You can clear your save on the test server as well without it affecting your main save but please double check that you are on the test server and logging into the correct account if you have more than one.
 • Ships and modules on the test server are at 10% of their normal price so it's quite easy to get a nice ship to test it out. You may also start with more credits than you have on your main account for testing purposes.
 • Remember: This is a beta test, there will be bugs and you do find any bugs please report them on our bug forum here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php/124-Elite-Dangerous-Bug-Reporting

If you have any other questions about this please do ask on our forums or social media channels and we will be glad to assist.

Irony of all this is when it appears I'll hit the update button and have to wait for possibly 8 hours whilst it downloads, ooh but its night-time in Perth how awesome it can do that whilst I sleep

Hi All

Quick question, Am I able to move from playing on the open Beta back to my main game at will? Are those two instances of play unconnected?
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone!...

5) When will console players getto experience Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One?

It's actually "ghetto" but surely referring to the console player base as a ghetto is a little harsh. I know they are not the glorious PC master race, but it still seems cruel to point it out.

Beta play and live are different saves.

When you have downloaded the beta you will have the option to play beta or play live.

Playing beta has no effect on live save and Beta save will be wiped once testing is completed .

Hope this answers your question

I'm currently out on the Dead End Circumnavigation Expedition. There's a good chance that, when I self destruct and appear back at my last station, this will be Station X in Crab Sector DL-Y d9, some several thousand LY out from the Bubble! Will I be able to petition Support to get me back into the Bubble in a reasonable time period so I can actually test the Beta mechanics? Or am I stuck with slowboating back over several weeks only to get back to the Bubble as the Beta ends? ;)

I think (don't quote me) that they took a snapshot a couple of weeks ago for the Beta database. So if you were out in the Black a couple of weeks ago then.....

Many thanks, that's what I thought was the case. Just wanted to be sure!

sry if this has already been asked: Will downloading the beta reduce the download requirement for the live version?

i.e. will beta files be used where possible?

That's the problem. I was at Station X some months ago and haven't docked since. The snapshot will most likely have been taken well after that visit :(

what they do is propably using scripts or emulated joysticks... yes I used wrong words before, what we need is Relative mouse toggle button to use FA off and on dynamically

I know there's some fun to be had with the console/PC master race schtick...but blatantly stating the console players 'getto' experience is probably not the intended idea you were putting out there! LOL!

First time taking part in a beta since standard here. With regards to the Steam instructions, currently the only option available from the menu is "Opt out of all beta programs" - would I be right in assuming this will change once it goes live?

I redeemed my Oculus key some time ago (would have preferred to stick with the vanilla version but couldn't get it to work in VR) and was wondering how I'd access the beta? Do I (and can I) download the vanilla installer again? Kind of dreading facing getting the vanilla version working in VR.

Same here so yes I would think it will change when it goes live

You could:
- self destruct and opt to revert to the starter sidey in the starter system, keeping your money
- reset your CMDR and see how fast you can make money again (although there was one post that stated that ships and modules might be reduced to 10% of their usual price...)
- ask support if they can move you. This has been known to be possible - I'd suggest some patience in this case, though
