Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One Beta FAQ

I've not actually participated in a beta for a LONG time.

Will there be a list of specific things you want us to test or is it simply a case of dive in, try out all the new stuff, report anything that doesn't seem right?

Also - there are lots of long standing bugs (dark rectangles on planets, missing quantity decrement sound, jumbled messages in comms panel, etc, etc). If these are not specifically mentioned in the patch notes (do we get patch notes for a beta?) then should we be retesting these and re-reporting them if they're still in the game?

Pretty sure its gonna be. Get new weapons and grief each other for crime and punishment.

Hello Alec!

Yep! There's a bunch of specific items we'd like to focus on which you'll be able to find posted on our forums tomorrow! We'd love you to report any bugs you find, even if they have been reported for live game and we'll do our best to look into them.

I guess it is a fairly safe bet that they will be focusing on bugs and balancing of the Beyond Chapter 1 updates. Everything else is likely a sidebar.

The "release notes" are likely to be fairly well covered by the Live Stream recaps.

So I'd say that is you're starter for 10 until FDev gives some focus areas.

7) Should I take the day off to play the beta?
We wouldn't advise taking time off to play the beta first thing tomorrow, as we don't have an exact time that this will go live!

Hmmm.....

much like the discussions held in the beyond feedback forum do! We've received some very valuable feedback from those forums which have influenced our designs and decisions for the Beyond set of updates, and we're really looking forward to running more ideas by the community as the year goes on.

Ahahahaha, who told you to put that line in?

I own a copy of Elite Dangerous for the PS4. Would this allow me to try the beta on my Mac or PC even though I don't own a ED on those platforms? No worries if the answer is "no", I'm just curious.

Splendiferous!

Couple of questions:

1) Is there any way to be able to have both the beta and the main game at the same time? I'm currently on the Enigma Expedition and would like to be able to keep pace with that and play with my friend.

2) I'm halfway to Colonia, as I'm on the Expedition. WHat would be the best way to return to the Bubble, short of flying there?

1 - the beta install is a separately-kept download - there will be a menu item for the beta version, listed in the launcher

2 - best way to get back to the bubble in the beta is to self-destruct, you will be put back in the bubble. NOTE: Make sure you are playing the beta before doing this (it should have a beta watermark at the bottom left hand corner of the screen)

Hit self destruct is the fastest way. Previous Betas everything starts off at only 10% retail sticker price, so eating your rebuy should not be disastrous

You don't have a mod or dev icon / color. How do you know this with such certainty? Even if past betas have worked this way I couldn't just assume that this one will, too.

I'd also like to know if the beta will co-exist with the live game.

Rude.

No good deed goes unpunished I suppose.

Certainly, wait for Paige to answer. Ignore my good advice, despite me being in the game since mid-2014 and having been through many of the betas.

Have an awesome day o7
