Elite Dangerous Community Schedule W/C 28 June 2021

The issue with the dymanic here between the community and it's managers is that we have a right to start getting a little bit angry (at the company and the person who makes these decisions to constantly pull out and cancel what they have promised and not even allow the CM's to properly convey this information to us in a clear sense).
It should go without saying that this is no excuse for personal attacks - but never lose track of the fact that the higher ups at FDev want it to be this way. They could change this dynamic by bringing in someone who actually holds some power in the company but they don't.

We are left with this weird thing of having to be cordial to the messengers of these horrible decisions and lies while we find ourselves in the position of not being able to hold anyone accountable because it's not the CM's fault after all.

It's not a healthy dynamic and this will never work for a player community. In times like these a higher up (Braben) needs to show their face, talk to us directly like adults and tell us what went wrong and what will be done to fix it. We were sold a broken product, we are not getting refunds and every time a roadmap / plan to retain us is published it gets either taken back or it's extremely minor, vague and not helpful.

Do not blame the community for getting angry because they are justified. Blame the company for allowing this to continue and using their employees as human shields.

Or they just need to get out more into the real world where there are, you know, actual real-world problems to complain about.
Constructive criticism is one thing, being an immature tool acting like the world owes you something is something else entirely.
The thing is that we are not here to talk about "real-world" problems, but game related ones, and there are plenty of those :)

Of course that is true, and players (may indeed) have a right to be angry. But it's how that anger is vented that is the issue. Again, constructive criticism is fine, insulting and being disrespectful is not, especially when in the context of it being only a video game as opposed to an actual serious real life issue, is what I mean. Some people in here act like FDev just insulted their mothers or something, and as far as I have read, that has not happened......yet 🤨

I feel it is kind of unfair of frontier that the CM´s are taking the bullet for this mess.
Management and Dev-team are the ones who are responsible for the games state.

On that I agree, we must not loose manners and try to be always civilized and polite when exposing our frustrations and complains about this game and everything in general.

Honestly, I'd rather they did that if it meant people who want it would be getting refunds. Insults are just words and can be easily dismissed.

I don't know you, but if a don't play a game I don't waste my time posting in the game forum to say that I don't play that game.
Anf that's fair and balanced. The problem comes when you start telling others what to do. They don't know you either. Why should they do as you wish?

Where i live, some harsh verbal insults are illegal, we have freedom of speech, but it stops where you do psychological harm and can be brought to court, also some peope are sensitive and words can litterally make them kill themselves.

just saying.. back to the topic of beeing disappointed.

So the Dev-update today will be an Forumpost?
Why is everybody so salty..? imho a forumpost, can be as informative as any video, aside from sound i guess.

Hey Emmvee, please spare a moment to think about the humans on the other end of these messages before you post them!

Luckily I’m pretty thick skinned, but I certainly won’t be accused of spreading lies and deceit and that’s simply not the case.

As for your last question - I can say that I work for this community with confidence, as can the rest of the team. We’ve been in overdrive since launch working on passing through your feedback and relaying what we can back to you. If that’s not enough for yourself, that’s no problem - but please don’t make accusations like the above when we’re simply doing our job to the best of our ability.
Oh dear, more of what I suspect is Lockdown entitlement.

Zac, I think a lot of folks appreciate you and the team are doing a great job, and posts like the one you responded to, demonstrate the negative side of it. My feeling is that all of you are good people doing the best you can, even Bruce.

My only criticism is that Arthur really needs to get that moustache under control. :)

Been scrolling through the 14 pages so far, but not sure if this was answered from page one ?
Maybe I missed the reply ?

Not angry or anything just wondering :)
This question has been directly asked so many times now (including by myself and others) I think at this stage it's fair to assume the response would be a negative one as otherwise it'd be silly to withhold the fact that more patches are planned after #5 and prior to the consoles release.

Even not ruling it out completely would be a reasonably positive answer, so complete silence = most certainly "nope".

IIRC Arf said this was the last patch tomorrow on the livestream yesterday (near the start). I was a bit surprised as there is so much still broken 🤷‍♀️

You just get the feeling that they are stretched far too thin over there in the Big House. They can't possibly put out any work without bugs right now, work that's actually finalised and polished.

It's my wish that they get the resources they need to actually clean up the messes that have been made. That'll have to come from the very top though.

Sure, that's inevitable.

Frontier constantly underestimate how long it takes to develop/fix things in Elite Dangerous, from Horizons 2.1 onwards almost every significant release has either been delayed, missing previously planned features, or both.

So given that background the only roadmaps we're going to get are either:
a) inaccurate - there will be delays, things which don't work out, get taken back, etc.
b) vague to the point of uselessness - but at least they can't be "wrong"
c) only describe things which have already happened (i.e. patch notes)

Accurate, Detailed, Describes The Future - pick any two.

The problem for the CMs is that some people prioritise "Accurate", even the change in format from video to text for the dev update is being seen as a massive betrayal - while others want "Detailed", it doesn't matter if it changes later, they're more after the general reassurance that active development is continuing, - and of course some people are in-between.

Perhaps they should release two roadmaps - one containing only those things which they're really certain will happen, and one containing current expectations with a big disclaimer of "all subject to change".

Ah thanks, I missed it (only watched the first 10-15 minutes or so but was distracted).

They also said it's a big update, so we'll see what it entails (though to be fair this is the kind of language that builds people's hope for the 'Jesus' patch).

I'm keeping a keen eye on ship and particularly FC cosmetics which are not working as intended (compared to how they look in Horizons or even just on the thumbnail image in the liveries menu), will raise a refund request for quite a lot of them if they're not sorted this time, been giving Frontier ample time to address this now.

I'm not really sure if I had a binary choice whether I would pick performance or bugs - probably performance because it affects most areas of the game, but I assume patch 5 isn't a performance patch beyond minor tweaks (tbh the past 4 patches did very little for me in terms of improvements, sometimes even were steps backwards) and we'll be stuck with how the game runs at the moment for quite some time.

The gulf between the players and Frontier grows on a daily basis.

Odyssey has caused a huge rift for Elite, one I'm not sure can be fixed.

Hullo @Zac Cocken Just wondering if you have a ballpark time for when the update patchnotes drop please? In the past they were released early morning but not sure what you have planned. If I had a general timeframe of when you expect it would save coming back every few mins to refresh and check.

Appreciate you're busy and please keep the chin up, you're doin good and none of the frustrations you see on here are directed at you personally. (y)

Patch notes will likely drop in the morning tomorrow when the servers go down.
