Elite Dangerous Community Schedule W/C 7 June 2021

Hey Zac, how about a community driven thread where people post their most egregious bugs and a developer has to answer it, explain why 7 votes isn't enough to get it confirmed and fixed?
I'll start, invisible rocks, as far as the eye can't see, search zones jumping a hundred klicks as you're about to hit orbital glide, analysis modes that still switch to weapons that you can't use in that mode...
Just a <passive aggressive> thought :) o7 (glad to see Fdev trying tho' - please keep it up).
Regarding search zones jumping: It's probably not a bug. It's been in since Horizon. Though size of planet and approach vector have an impact on how much it jumps.

That's why coop needs to be fixed asap there are lots of guns for hire players that could go with u to those missions and get rid of all your enemies. Everyone happy. 😊
Also we could do explorer missions together would be a dream come true to many.

I regret sincerely to buy Odyssey. Since Odyssey is live on servers, i failled all ground missions, except repair missions without ennemies, that's all.
I hate this missions because the IA is very very very boring and annoying. So i bought Odyssey but i'm always on horizon's missions.
Too sad that i can't refunds my odyssey DLC....

Not to derail the thread and it may not even be in Odyssey (previous response), but it certainly never jumped that far before in Horizons - tho I stopped playing for about 6 months so no idea when it started happening, I'm guessing when the reticule animatic started freezing?

Greetings Commanders!

We're into June now, and with it, we're kicking off a brand new initiative to recognise some of our most dedicated players - more details on that below! Aside from that, it's going to be another packed week of community activity, so here's the schedule:

Tuesday

Supercruise News #36: Supercruise News returns on Tuesday - we'll be discussing the Odyssey roadmap, our plans for communication going forward, and sharing all the highlights from the community.

Wednesday

Stellar Screenshots: We're always looking for great screenshots, and Wednesday is the day to get yours submitted using the #StellarScreenshots hashtag!

ED Elite Club: We want to start celebrating some of the achievements of our most dedicated Commanders! Starting this week, we'll be sharing the tweets of Commanders who celebrate their newly reached Elite (or Triple Elite) rank using the hashtag #EDEliteClub on our own social accounts. So all you need to do is grab a screenshot showing off your new rank, and post it with the hashtag!

Thursday

Odyssey Conflict Zones: It's time to suit up and tackle some Odyssey Conflict Zones for the first time since launch, with a full arsenal of weapons now available! What carnage will ensue?

Odyssey Update 3: The next update for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey is due on Thursday!

Friday

Commander Creations: Checking out the wonderful creations from our community is one of the highlights of our week, so keep them coming using the hashtag #CommanderCreations!
It's nice that the fanboy "dedicated" (white knight) players are being focused on too. Not just us disgruntled moaning customers who feel cheated out of our money.

At least you're being fair to everyone 😁

FDev will never achieve what No Man Sky did. Go take a look at their latest update. Insane dedication to fixing their mistakes and on such a small team. That is how you actually show your community that you care. Its simple
You do realize that those guys went radio silent for the first three months after release? And because No Man Sky was their only release at the time they had to devote their entire company to fix their mistakes, because it was their only source of income for the foreseeable future. They had to do this or their company would have been toast, because who would have trusted anything else they would have released afterwards.

Now FDEV committed their entire Elite Dangerous development team to bug hunting for the next three patches, which is a serious commitment if you keep in mind that they need to deliver on the console versions and the Horizons engine update in the next few months as well. And I can guarantee you that they realize that they f-upped the Odyssey release in a major way and need to address this quickly in order for their devoted player base to not drop them like a hot potato.

Will this debacle result in a change on how FDEV manages its development? We can only hope so, because it is clear that in the transition from primarily privately owned development house to publicly traded publishing house something went wrong with the management side of things.

The David Braben who got angry at the way of how Frontier First Encounters was treated by GameTek would not have stood for how the launch of Odyssey was handled!

@Zac Cocken could you please add a slide to the livestream including issue tracker progress/statistics - how many bugs, by type, in which state, for how long time etc. It would prove the community that FDev is working on reported problems and not bulk-marking issues as fixed when thinks it is fixed.

We're working on new initiatives (as part of our new approach to comms) - we'll be explaining tomorrow on Supercruise News.
Well, if you've been reading the forums then you should know that half hearted measures and statements are not going to go over well with most of the community. People want details and explanations. Not that vague piece of work y'all called a roadmap. I truly hope Frontier steps up to the plate and gets a hit. We want you to succeed....but you have to do much better than that roadmap.

Just curious, how do you know they dedicated their entire development team to bug fixes?

I base that on this section of the Roadmap post by Arthur:

"While we are expecting to see specific and targeted performance improvements in the upcoming June updates, we are also aware that development work for console will allow for even larger performance optimisations and enhancements for PC too. Therefore, we feel the best approach for all our Commanders will be to focus our development efforts after Update 5 on performance and the console release, and to bring our multi-platform community together once more, which will also allow us to bring even more global optimisation changes and updates to all Elite Dangerous Commanders."

I take this to mean that during the weeks that the updates are being worked on the focus will be on those. Now I don't know how many software developers are working on ED itself. We've been quoted numbers of 100+ for the entire team, but I assume that that includes artists, sound designers and other non-software related jobs as well.

Rumour Control: They did go radio silent after the release as there was nothing they could say. They had to do. They had the money from Joe Danger that allowed them to create NMS but Sean Murray became a millionaire from that release. He could easily have said: '<redacted> it! I'm off for a cushy life', but he didn't, he spent the next 5 years doing what he promised (and far more) for the initial release; multiplayer, VR, engine enhancements, mining, farming, storylines, ghost ships, fleet carriers (first one free thru a storyline), planetary bases etc etc etc - all for free!
To the point where fans are now asking Hello Games to maybe charge for some DLC...

By not checking the veracity of their statements.

David Braben is both the CEO and largest shareholder of FD. He not only very much stood for it, he is the one who signed off on it is and primarily responsible. Nobody within FD is ultimately more responsible than him. Not just for the launch, but everything both good and bad.

Being the biggest shareholder and CEO doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want. It's still a publicly traded company with other shareholders and they will have a say in what goes and what doesn't. David only has 32.8% of the shares, which means that other parties own the other 67.2%.
