elite dangerous forcing u into a mid/large ship to get anything done at a good pace

this game used to be good before the engineering was added into this game now u are forced to engineer just about everything u own if u want to get anything done with it everyone is sick of the grind for the matts

just want to go back to the old days of no engineering and flying my cobra and being able to do what ever i wanted and i have to engineer the en thing to get anything done

Well if everything has to be done now now now, then yeah, you will have to grind your bootie off. Doesn’t that make it your decision, though?
all ready have 15 fully engineered ships getting really sick of the grind just for 1 ship

Thats easy

Have fun

Never did any grind for engineers. Just did them as I went along. Never understood why people have that need.
Getting that maximum jump range, and maybe a little extra speed to oomph out of a situation, is an understandable aspiration. At the higher grades, materials don't just fall into your lap, so Dev's Whottsis and material trading becomes crucial, and thus a distraction from everything else.

For 'muh ummursion', one would think you could pay for the upgrades, and not scavenge for the parts? It at least makes the grind for money more understandable, if the end goal is a ship you can actually enjoy using.

Don't engineer then? Also, that's how every game works. You grind your level/rank/status/designation, etc up, get more gear/ships/weapons/cars/guns etc, cant afford X; grind money, get it.
Don't like it; don't play. 🤷‍♂️

A good pace is determined by the player. No one can make you progress faster than you choose to. Tell me, how exactly are you being forced to do anything in game?
This. ↑↑↑↑ Always this. No one determines "good pace" bar you.

Wow! I haven't even met everyone, much less taken the time to ask their opinions.
They didn't ask mine, so guess they're full of :poop::poop: or exaggerating to make thier point seem worse than it is. 😁😁

Been to Dav's and Jamesons once. For the story. G5 mats rain on me every week. I get about 5 for each of the 20 massacres I take each week. Got no use for them. Then there's the ones that drop from the condas I blow up to do those missions. 🤷‍♂️

why don't you do just that?

I resetted an account after FC update - flew around first with a sidey, than a cobra. didn't engineer until i had all enbgineers gating those in colonia and all the materials.

works very nicely. of course - that cobra will not win a High conflict zone for you (as my engineered and guardian modules maxed out cobra does). but you can enjoy and survive all of the game in it.

plus - side note .... most blueprints give 50% already at grade 1, what they give at grade 5. so if you don't mind collecting raw materials around vulcanic sites and such, you can have a seriously beefed up cobra at minimum costs.

that said - i neither like engineering that much as a process, i just like what some of my ships are capable of doing thanks to enginnering.

Play the game, have fun, do whatever takes your fancy and a few things that don't. Then every so often see what you have and if you want to engineer fill in the gaps.

You have choices so play the game, don't let the game play you.... :)

When I came back to the game a few months back, it seemed that bounty hunting in RESs had been nerfed. Ships were much harder to finish off (and using nastier weapons), and that meant more time to fall foul of the authorities, or make some other dumb mistake. So I started the FTL grind instead.

It didn't seem like massacres would be any different, so I skipped the last CG. If blowing up ships is how to get materials for upgrades, and I need upgrades to blow up ships again, that might be a problem.
