Elite Dangerous | Gutamaya Corsair Update - 8 April 2025

I am buying a Corsair as I will be getting requests from the squadron on how to build one.

That's is my forte in game I love engineering. Leaves space now for all you nay sayers about how much you hate engineering.

Looking forward for a reward structure for engineering 😀. The only skill set in game that has no progression, recognition or love. And more mats is not a reward for an engineer!

OK, so honestly, who's getting a Corsair and why? I'll be here on the fence.
Oh yes, Pol, my ship's parrott (HCS Voicepack) would never forgive me if I didn't...I'm firmly on the side of loving the look of this ship - reminds me a little of Hawk's fighter from Buck Roger's in the 25th Century...ok, showing my age!

Despite the fact that the game is 1st Person view and I'd don't do selfies, this is a ship that fell out of "The Subjective Tree of Ugliness" and crashed into all the branches on the way down. Therefore it's a hard pass from me. Not for ARX and probably not for credits either.

Great answer! Next to combat itself, theory crafting ships is my favorite pastime. I'm that guy in the Concourse bar scribbling on napkins and mumbling. o7

Vanguards will probably change that, where you can actually share ships within the Vanguard.

I'll pass on the Corsair for now. Not that I don't love it. (as a loyal Imperial, one must simply have the whole fleet. hurrah!)

it's just.. kindof surplus to requirements. if the Corsair had some at the start of the Thargoid war (or even halfway through) it would have been the ship of choice for almost everyone. but.. the Thargoids are gone. what I need now is a ship that can lug 1000... 1500... 2000 tonnes of cargo. Panther Clipper, or Lynx Transporter. Simply don't need another fighting ship right now.

Enjoy though! they look swish 😎

Well. See my third ship was an Imperial Courier, (well, fourth if you count the starter sidewinder which I flew exactly far enough to pick up my free eagle.) - and I just love the cockpit of the Courier.

Also, there's just something about Gutamaya ships. I like 'em, I guess. So I'll be getting this one too.

Me.

I will be buying the Stellar version and engineering the hell out of it, then throwing myself into every Haz Res and Combat Zone I can find - I want Combat Elite, and I want it in STYLE.

I've said for years that if we ever got a Gutamaya Medium it'd be hard for me to want to fly anything else, and nothing I've seen or read about the Corsair has changed that. FDev are giving me something I want, so I have no issue with giving them some Arx in return.

If anyone ever happens to see the INV Grabthar's Hammer out there, shoot me an o7.

My thoughts exactly, both for "oh man, I wish we had it during the war" and what we need right now. (y)

I do agree with the above, but I think they had a pre-set release schedule and this is part of it.

I would not be surprised if the next 1-2 ships were both L and one being a Combat/Support and the other being a BIG hauler. And possibly Fed/Alliance.

Having multiple accounts this would also ensure I upgrade all to Odyssey so I can pick them up for credits and ensures continued investment for Devs and players.

They are doing great work and the only thing I really want to see long term is a Huge hauler class, and/or ability to sideload FCs at construction sites (even if it was time locked per /t of cargo) and the market links system wide for better stocking of goods in systems. I have built 44 and Orbis is 45 constructions in my system and they are all random supply with some markets disappearing altogether!

It is beta so hopefully some of that will come in time but it has made me not want to go all in on another system until some things are clear.
