level scaling is an awful mechanic.

you should make it so players decide their own difficulty by virtue of their actions.

ever heard the term "cave-bear plague" ? Its from skyrim. Once you get to a certain level, all you meet in the wilderness is cavebears cavebears cavebears. Its nonsensical and you should know better.

If people want a challenge, provide that option with elite mission npcs, combat zones, pirate strongholds in anarchy systems etc etc etc the options are limitless without resorting the the lamest and laziest solution that is bloody level scaling.

Definitely this^^. In the original game entering an anarchy system was a total no-no for any but the most skilled pilot. "Interdictions" were continuous all the way to the station and the equivalent of mass-lock was always total, you couldn't move on until the attacker(s) had been killed. There should be a totally different feel to the low security systems which I find lacking.

Yep same here, just sat down for a few solid hours on friday night and BAM servers down... cant you lot do it on thursday 10am bst not friday 10am bst? :)

Thursday a.m. would mess up those chasing the end of the CGs. There is no time when someone won't be inconvenienced since there are players in every timezone.
 
That is so annoying, and yet matches my experience going all the way back to 1.4. I want to fight big impossible ships in my little fast ships too. That is half the fun of the game imo. If they only spawn for other giant ships, then I will never see them I guess. I hate flying big ships. But I love flying against them.


Anyway, will have to test with all the in game mechanics (carrying huge bounties, high ranked combat missions, power play, HAZ RES, CZs, etc).

Ship size/ type is defo being considered a bit (at least based on my anecdotal sorry backside). Flying around in python and FDL/ Python and Ani seem to the order of the day. In cutter? Suddenly every bad guy from here to Sag A* has an Anaconda and a bad attitude.

So we'll see what these changes bring. AI definately being declawed a bit though. Fingers crossed not too far.
 
Yep FDev don't get enough thanks for the stuff they do pull off well - spent quite afew hours srving and the graphics were awesome - plus the graphics reflections and all the damage animations (perhaps I'm just seeing those now:))
 
I am starting to wonder if NPC strength is based on the strength and build of my ship?

I wondered that, flying round my little Viper Mk4 runabout I'm left alone pretty much, but when I jumped into my FdL didn't see much trouble either. I'm 50% Dangerous and although the interdiction rate was off the charts last Friday and Saturday from Sunday onwards it became almost pedestrian.

I'm hoping that system state and security levels play a big factor as well as rank, ED needs dangerous and safe locations to force people to actually pay attention to the information available.

Just maybe FD is being kind to us toothless explorers and trying to give us a chance to dock and sell data in our Asps ?
Come on, you got 28 other ships to play with...
 
Also concerned about the Sirius permit like some other posters. I grinded to allied only to not receive it. It's pretty much completely blocking my progress because I need the power plant upgrade to work on other things, and I also stacked the 25 terminals for the engineer while working on the rep. So I have this cargo holding me back as well, and I don't want to dump it and redo a bunch of missions for them again when they fix it.
 
- Slight rebalance of the ambient AI rank chances, should see slightly less of the top end and more of the low/mid range

Does this means that we will se less Elite NPC when we get interdicted?

I hope so because ive been interdicted by just Elite npc and it have made me to take a break from the game.

Has anyone else come across missions that they were able to complete even though the weren't ranked highly enough?
I'm currently at Entrepreneur 93% but was able to accept and complete several cargo missions that said I needed to be ranked Tycoon or Elite. They were listed as available but when I clicked on them the type was red saying I was ranked too low but I was still given the option to accept and complete said missions.

Wow, that sounds like a bad one.
 
I updated the game and I still can't finish my mission. I'm where I have to be and the guy is simply not here... Does the update work only with new mission ?

Shhh, not so loud... Someone might hear ya and fix it.
But yes, I am Tycoon trader and was able to accept an Elite trader mission.
I "forgot" to put in a bug report.
 
The game shouldn't give out missions where you have to deliver things to systems where you are wanted and therefore cannot dock.

Missions aren't gated by rank, the rank indicates the difficulty and the reward.
