Release Elite Dangerous HUD Mod (EDHM)

Sorry, I don't know exactly, but it was already described here
(load 3dfx.ini from 3dmigoto and mark one or two lines with " ; ", no guarantee).
That answer was not what I expected. So I must have asked the wrong question. :mad:
I found the answer: ; F11 reloads the game with your changes
What should I have asked? ;)
I like this mod it looks like a lot of work has gone into it.

Anyone know how to get the F1 option (changes sidepanel background opacity) to be on the darker setting by default. It's always on the lighter, more transparent mode by default, and I can't find anything in the profile setting to change it.

Sorry, my English is too bad. I must have translated it wrong.

I don't think that's how it's supposed to be.

KeyBinds.ini
Here you find the F1 key and the corresponding variable x111.
Code:
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Panel Opacity Boost
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Toggle between standard panel opacity and increased opacity with F1
[keyTogglePanelOpacity]
Key = no_modifiers F1
type = toggle
x111 = 1.5

Profiles.ini
Here you find the variable again but without any hint to change it. You could now use the 1.5 from the KeyBinds.ini for the 1.0,
then you would have the effect at the start.
Code:
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Reserved
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Don't change these values:
w100 = 0
x100 = 1
x110 = 0
x111 = 1

No, my fault. It was a joke. :(
I should have looked harder before I asked.
I think that I have got my head around how to use the mod, now. The functionality of the profiles is daunting but will be fun learning.

Thanks, that did the trick! Also had the bonus effect of disabling the toggle entirely on F1 which helped me kill 2 birds with one stone!

But me being a dummy I cannot seem to get the EDHM v1.4 Profile Tool to work for me. I followed your instructions and created a profile. I added the content of the green box to the bottom of the Profiles.ini file and saved it. But when I fire up the game hitting CRTL-1, CRTL-2, or CRTL-3 for my new created profile doesn't do anything. I just end up on the common HUD screens that are assigned to the 1,2 and 3 key. Any suggestions?

Hi CMDR,

Did you sort it out now? When you make a profile try to choose hotkeys that aren't also used by Elite. Or alternatively, go into the Elite control settings and unbind the keys you wish to use for your hotkeys. I hope that makes sense! But let me know if you're still having any problems with the key bindings

Hello I am having trouble extracting the EDHM files into the correct folder. It says to extract to C:\..\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64

but the only folder on my hd I see for ED is Program Files(x86)/Frontier/ED Launch

with no file elite-dangerous-64 that I see.

... quite fast ...
Did you have a special path specified during the installation of ED (data ect.) ? Then look there.
Otherwise the path should be c:\user\user name\appdata\local\Frontier Developments\Products ...
AppData is a hidden directory.

Ah ok thanks. Will check that.

Hi CMDR,

With the Frontier installation, try going to:

Program Files(x86)/Frontier/ED Launch/Products/

You should now see the elite-dangerous-64 folder

Double-click the elite-dangerous-64 folder and install the mod in there

Could you please let me know if you locate it? Thanks!

I have no Products folder in mine.

I have no Products folder in mine.

Hmmm it must be somewhere else. I helped someone yesterday over discord with the Frontier installation and he had a Products folder in his ED Launch folder.

ok, go to your Program Files(x86) folder and run a windows search for "elite-dangerous-64" (with the quotation marks)

If that doesn't work please PM me and we'll sort it out there

Are you using the Steam Version? If so, it'll be in your Steamlibrary on whichever drive you installed it to. The default would be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64

Hi CMDR, Is it possible to change the color yourself, to one that is not in fashion?

@GeorjCostanza and all the others: thank you very much. Don't ask me what went wrong, but the crtl-2 command DOES work now. :) Yes, the view still changes to the chat panel but the lighting profile also changes.

Another question: I think I've read that the EDHM overrides the Steam overlay? I am no more able to take screenshots with F12. I also cannot find the location for screenshots that are taken by pressing F10.

Again thank you for your replies! :)

Check your default "My Pictures" folder and look for a Frontier Folder.

I think he might be using the Frontier version, has a slightly (or maybe hugely?) different folder structure

Hi CMDR, Is it possible to change the color yourself, to one that is not in fashion?

At the moment you can only change the elements to colours that are specified within the mod. Please see the PDF document EDHM-1.4-KeyBindings.pdf in the elite-dangerous-64 folder for all the colour options

When I get time I'll specify the locations within the shader files so you can create your own colours
