Thanks for the bug report. Hmmm I'm not seeing that bug on my end, here's a screenshot of Scylla just now with the Lighting / skybox mod active

Scylla.jpg

I'm not sure what might be causing that issue .. did you change anything in Custom.ini?

I'm worried these new Odyssey shaders aren't as moddable / compatible as the Horizons versions. But I'll try re-formatting the shader structure and see if it improves the situation

Use the in-game screenshot function (F10; or alt-F10 for very high-res screenshots in solo or private group modes only). Or use the PrtScn key on the keyboard
Do you know, by any chance, any software that isn't a spyware, that just capture the PrtScn and create a file of it directly without any popup window?

I'm not really sure! I don't hear any feedback from FDev. I wish they would too. Even ARX HUD colours would be a step forward, plus they would make money
yea, but no, this has to stay as an option to make HUD readings easier to notice, read & react... Please no arx ...

Yes you can modify, remove, add keybinds. Please see the Keybinds section in the Manual
As for F11, navigate to the DevMode folder (in the EDHM-ini folder), and open Dev.ini in a text editor. Can F11 (on both lines) to whatever key or key combo you prefer. See the Manual for a list of valid key names
I've looked everywhere I could think of to get this key and change it, maybe you could add a tip in the Manual?
Thanks anyway, works much better now it doesn't conflict with silent running key >_<

Thank you very much for such a detailed answer, take care :)

@GeorjCostanza I hope this is the right thread to report my issue.
I just upgraded to the 1.51 release and I love all the new features that have been added, especially cleaning off the damn forward glass!
I have an issue tho. As of right now, the color mod for the NightVision is a bit bugged in that it still tries to tint everything green. As such, colors on the opposite side like Red turn black instead. Im not sure what I did to cause this as my game is stock save for EDHM and a few draw distance tweak attempts with ED profiler. I have already tried adjusting some other values such as re-enabling XML (Disabled on personal preference) with no luck. Any ideas?

Hi CMDR,

The modding software is having a little trouble extracting some of the shaders from Odyssey, and those particular modded shaders are mainly causing issues for people with AMD cards. The night vision shader was one of only a few in Horizons that had the same extraction issue, especially with the night vision red channel, so my guess is you have an AMD card?

I haven’t found a way to fix this problem, mainly because I don’t have an AMD card to test different techniques, and I don’t know the source of the problem. The best we can do is just delete the problematic shaders so they don’t interfere with your gameplay.

When I get home I’ll PM you the shader file to delete so you can use the default night vision. Sorry I can’t offer a better solution!

Hi

I didn't change anything in custom.ini I did change a couple of the variables in Startup-Profile.ini the space dust and supercruise lines.

I've only been to a few other star systems since installing the mod but so far they all appear normal. I'll revist Syclla soon and see if it reproduces.

Edit:
Ironically Scylla was only 11ly away and I'm there now and it appears normal in the System Map view. I am running the same mod install from which I grabbed the screen shot above. So I'm guessing either EDO or Win10 had a brain fart yesterday.

Please let us know on the AMD issue George! Was curious, though if the green screen issue could be corrected with ReSahde or something until there is a fix on it?

I love your work and wish I could throw some real money at you to support it!

I have OneDrive installed .. so when I press PrtScn it sends a PNG image file to the screenshots folder in Onedrive / Pictures .. and it doesn't cause a pop-up while I'm in-game

The setting are in OneDrive/Settings/Backup

But before I had OneDrive installed I was just using the in-game screenshot function F10 / alt-F10, and that works great

Hi again, just following-up from my previous message

To disable the modded night vision, go into the ShaderFixes folder (in the elite-dangerous-64 folder) and delete the shader file 0f2b92ba5625c61f-ps.txt

Hiya, it's really difficult for me to fix as I don't have an AMD gfx card to test any changes, and usually I have to go through heaps of different trials before I find something that works. So at this stage I'm not sure how to fix it

I don't think reshade will compensate for the bug .. it's more than just the green levels, I think the other brightness shaders might have difficulty with AMD cards as well. I really hope the base colour mod doesn't have the same issues, but we'll find out very soon. But the good news is that I didn't have trouble extracting those colour shaders (aka pixel shaders) so they will most likely be ok on AMD

I too have a green bloom. Disabling the bloom effect restores the colour, however my entire space is pink (only in gameplay), other screens look normal. Have not tried yet on foot or on a station. I have a AMD RX 5600 XT card.

It's quite difficult to check the FPS impact of this mod as Odyssey FPS is generally all over the place.

Feedback from me: Beta lighting improvements seemed to work well, F1 compare testing saw marked improvement - but I experienced a 10-12 FPS hit on average in all scenarios with the beta shader installed, running a 1080Ti / i7-6700k. Cheers.

Just to add to my previous post, I was at Hot Jupiter, the screenshot below shows the normal colour. Notice the planet and sun being red/pink. This may contribute to the pink haze. Currently heading to a station before trying again.

Edit: Still pink, headed to Alexander Terminal in Ross 667 and, inside the station is fine, but outside in space is pink.

Yeah it looks like the lighting rebalance isn't compatible with AMD gfx cards. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to fix it as I don't have an AMD card to test. I'll update the first post to inform CMDRs about the incompatibility

Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the feedback. What was your original FPS? Up to about 10% was normal in Horizons, but I don't have enough data with Odyssey yet to give a firm estimate. But given how things are going so far with Odyssey in general, I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing larger FPS drops with EDHM as our GPUs are pushed further than Horizons

On my system I think the fps drop is minimal if any.

5600x and a 3060Ti

Yeah same with mine, it's only 1 or 2 FPS. But results can vary depending on the GPU and what's running in the background .. overlays of any type can interfere with 3Dmigoto, it's really difficult to predict

I've also attached a video that shows major pixel problems when on foot looking out window. I made this with bloom off, and showed with F1 held and unheld (to show the coloration changes).
