::EDHM ODYSSEY v9.2 ALPHA::
Hi CMDRs,
I'd like to call this update the BOTE (the Beginning of the End update), as the Ody mod is close to being finished
As this is a pretty huge update, with massive re-writes of the main shaders, it needs some alpha testing before it's ready to be inserted into the UI
On the technical side, I use specific resources to switch some screens on and off, and I'm unsure if those resources are present only on my version of elite / machine, or if everyone has exactly the same resource (specifically the hash addresses).
So I'm grateful if you could you please report any bugs and glitches here or on the
EDHM Discord, thank you
DO NOT RUN THIS ALPHA WITH THE UI, IT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED MANUALLY (sorry for caps, but it's important)
This alpha test is only for CMDRs who are comfortable copying, moving, editing ini files etc. If you're not proficient with the Windows file system and Windows Explorer then please wait for the final release.
ALPHA HAS FINISHED, PLEASE IGNORE THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
================================================================
How to install:
1. Exit Elite. Exit Elite, please exit Elite
2. Don't load up the UI at all while using the alpha - it won't be compatible and might corrupt these new ini files
3. If you already have EDHM running, backup your current settings so you can easily reinstall your current version when you've finished testing the alpha:
i. FInd your Odyssey game folder (usually "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64")
ii. Zip d3dx.ini, the EDHM-ini folder, and the ShaderFixes folder
iii. Save the backup zip somewhere safe, away from the Elite game folders
iv. Delete d3dx.ini, the EDHM-ini folder, and the ShaderFixes folder (from the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder)
v. Copy the zip file [REMOVED] into the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder
vi. Unzip the zip! (make sure your zip app doesn't put all these new files into a folder with the zip file name, it won't work if it does that)
vii. Your zip will probably ask if you want to overwrite the three .dll files, so go ahead and overwrite (they are the same in every version of EDHM - they aren't Elite game files, the mod doesn't touch the game files at all)
viii. Start Elite
================================================================
To reinstall your old version (if you had one):
1. Exit Elite
2. Go into your "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder, and delete d3dx.ini, the EDHM-ini folder, and the ShaderFixes folder
3. Grab the Backup zip you made previously, copy it into the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder
4. Unzip the zip, and start Elite. Easy peasy.
5. Now you can use the UI again
================================================================
To completely uninstall EDHM:
1. Exit Elite, you must exit Elite or files will get left behind
2. Go into the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder and double click the file "EDHM-Uninstall.bat". All done, now it's gone in 2 seconds
Alternative uninstall method:
Load the Elite Launcher, select Ody, then in the Options menu, select "Validate Game Files". That will remove anything that isn't made by FDev
================================================================
For the Alpha test, please don't alter the ini files to begin with. Just let it be green, even if you hate green. I just need to check everything is loading consistently for everyone.
When you start a game, the menu should look like this:
Try going into the Powers screen .. from the ship, from the SRV, from Foot. It should look like this (these are the true Power colours, but you can change them to another colour if you prefer):
Secondary Powers screen:
Next go into the Codex, it should look like this (please let me know if the filter over your portrait is orange, I had some trouble with that one in particular):
Then GalNet news:
Fly around a bit, walk around, shoot some people, check the terminals in the stations, and please let me know if anything looks buggy
If everything is looking ok, you can start playing with the ini files, especially the bottom of
Startup-profile.ini and Advanced.ini
** Change a value, save the file, then press F11 in-game to see the change
Thanks very much for testing the Alpha! Once we've squashed any bugs it will be ready for the full release and inclusion in the UI. So hopefully this process will only take 1 or 2 days (depending on the size of the bugs)
