Release Elite Dangerous HUD Mod (EDHM)

If you've selected option 8 (Original Elite Green) by setting x112 = 8, then theoretically it should be bypassing any modded content in the Night Vision shader

But just to be sure you're seeing Elite default, you can delete the Night Vision shader from the ShaderFixes folder

1. Exit Elite (important)
2. Go into the ShaderFixes folder (\elite-dangerous-64\ShaderFixes\)
3. Delete the shader file 0f2b92ba5625c61f-ps.txt (this is the modded Night Vision shader)
4. Re-start Elite

Now anything you're seeing with the PWA / Night Vision is absolutely default Elite, no other shaders influence those elements

If you still don't trust me :) then you can disable the mod completely by double-clicking the EDHM-uninstall.bat (while Elite is closed, this will uninstall the mod), or for a temporary disable, go into the 'elite-dangerous-64' folder (while Elite is closed) and put a dash (-) in front of the following files:

Code:
-d3d11.dll
-d3dcompiler_46.dll
-d3dx.ini
-nvapi64.dll

Then re-start Elite.

The mod won't load with those files disabled, and what you're seeing is pure FDev

To restore the mod, Exit Elite, delete the dashes, then restart, and the mod will return

Please let me know what you see
First chance to test it today, worked as intended, thanks.

Yes, Odyssey, sorry for not mention it before. If this could be done it'll be fantastic! :)

Oh btw in the EDHM_UI when the "Targeting reticle" tile is selected there is "text brightness" slider wich is supposed to change exactly Planets Text but doesnt work in odyssey I believe

Thanks for letting me know, I'll check out what's going on there, if it's an issue with the mod or the UI

thanks you for this, just 1 slight penny worth thou. can we have the installed directory customised please has i don't like mixing os stuff with game related bits.and the ssd is getting abit grumpy saying that there low disk space:D

thanks awfullly.

Hi, do you mean the UI or the mod? The mod is what changes all the colours and has to be installed in the Horizons or Odyssey game folder. It's only about 9mb though, and doesn't touch any of the game files at all.

The UI is a separate program made by a different developer (Blue Mystic) and enables easy adjustment of the mod colour values, which is really important for the Odyssey mod since there's so many colour options. If you'd like to give feedback about the UI program you'll need to chat with Blue Mystic on the EDHM Discord as he doesn't hang out here

I hope that answers your question but let me know if not

nope the mods running fine. thanks for the work.

I'm happy to announce EDHM for Odyssey is nearing completion

Just finished the Powers screen, and have added lots of options for you to play with

Here's an example of the portraits with True Powers Colours

Just a few things left to do and then we can test it out

Very much enjoying the program so far, I've even started customizing things which seems to work fairly well.

I have found an issue with some of the themes, when on a planet inside an SRV, that don't seem to support showing indicators on the ground in the radar screen representing items and mining nodes. For example, when using Bell Purple, Cobalt and Colonel's Blue and Purple (and possibly others), I'm right on top of several canisters and the radar isn't showing anything on the ground nearby. Same thing with mining nodes. But if I switch to Carinae and refresh in game, the little boxes show up immediately. I tested a couple other themes, like Arcane Violet, and that one works fine as well. I don't see a specific setting in the radar screen for SRV's within EDHM that allows a color change for them, in contrast with the ability to change planet colors while in a ship. Just wanted to report that here since I'm not sure how to go about doing that on github. Maybe a setting could be added to allow color change for ground objects and possibly some of the themes need to be updated to support them.

Cheers

Hi, I think it's an issue with old themes having outdated settings. There's a setting for 'turning off white objects on the radar', which is useful in CZs when there's heaps of white clutter.

However, some themes have that set to 'Off' by default (which they shouldn't) so you'll need to go into the UI (or Startup-Profile.ini, in the EDHM ini folder) and ensure white radar objects are set to ON. I don't have the UI so I can't tell you where that setting is located, but in Startup-Profile.ini it's here: (change it to 1, save file, then F11 in-game)

If you'd like to ask anything about the UI then please contact Blue Mystic (the UI dev) via the EDHM discord

I got it yesterday but haven't used it yet. Can we revert back to the Original theme. I didn't see it in the selection.

Hiya, I'm the mod developer, and the UI developer is Blue Mystic. If you have any bug reports or suggestions about what to mod next in Elite then let me know, but for all theme (UI) related questions you'll need to chat with Blue Mystic on the EDHM Discord

But if you mean, can EDHM be easily uninstalled? The answer is definitely yes

First, make sure Elite is closed (it's really important)

Three methods:
i. When you uninstall the UI it will uninstall the mod
ii. You can double-click the file EDHM-Uninstall.bat in the game folder
iii. In the official Elite launcher, you can select 'Validate Game Files' from the Options menu and the launcher will remove anything that isn't made by Fdev

But yeah, for theme advice you'll need to ask on the EDHM Discord

::EDHM ODYSSEY v9.2 ALPHA::

Hi CMDRs,

I'd like to call this update the BOTE (the Beginning of the End update), as the Ody mod is close to being finished

As this is a pretty huge update, with massive re-writes of the main shaders, it needs some alpha testing before it's ready to be inserted into the UI

On the technical side, I use specific resources to switch some screens on and off, and I'm unsure if those resources are present only on my version of elite / machine, or if everyone has exactly the same resource (specifically the hash addresses).

So I'm grateful if you could you please report any bugs and glitches here or on the EDHM Discord, thank you

DO NOT RUN THIS ALPHA WITH THE UI, IT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED MANUALLY (sorry for caps, but it's important)

This alpha test is only for CMDRs who are comfortable copying, moving, editing ini files etc. If you're not proficient with the Windows file system and Windows Explorer then please wait for the final release.

ALPHA HAS FINISHED, PLEASE IGNORE THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
================================================================
How to install:

1.
Exit Elite. Exit Elite, please exit Elite 🙂

2. Don't load up the UI at all while using the alpha - it won't be compatible and might corrupt these new ini files

3. If you already have EDHM running, backup your current settings so you can easily reinstall your current version when you've finished testing the alpha:
i. FInd your Odyssey game folder (usually "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64")
ii. Zip d3dx.ini, the EDHM-ini folder, and the ShaderFixes folder
iii. Save the backup zip somewhere safe, away from the Elite game folders

iv. Delete d3dx.ini, the EDHM-ini folder, and the ShaderFixes folder (from the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder)
v. Copy the zip file [REMOVED] into the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder

vi. Unzip the zip! (make sure your zip app doesn't put all these new files into a folder with the zip file name, it won't work if it does that)
vii. Your zip will probably ask if you want to overwrite the three .dll files, so go ahead and overwrite (they are the same in every version of EDHM - they aren't Elite game files, the mod doesn't touch the game files at all)

viii. Start Elite

================================================================
To reinstall your old version (if you had one):

1.
Exit Elite

2. Go into your "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder, and delete d3dx.ini, the EDHM-ini folder, and the ShaderFixes folder

3. Grab the Backup zip you made previously, copy it into the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder

4. Unzip the zip, and start Elite. Easy peasy.

5. Now you can use the UI again

================================================================

To completely uninstall EDHM:

1. Exit Elite, you must exit Elite or files will get left behind

2. Go into the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder and double click the file "EDHM-Uninstall.bat". All done, now it's gone in 2 seconds :)

Alternative uninstall method:

Load the Elite Launcher, select Ody, then in the Options menu, select "Validate Game Files". That will remove anything that isn't made by FDev

================================================================

For the Alpha test, please don't alter the ini files to begin with. Just let it be green, even if you hate green. I just need to check everything is loading consistently for everyone.

When you start a game, the menu should look like this:

EDHM-Main-Menu.jpg

Try going into the Powers screen .. from the ship, from the SRV, from Foot. It should look like this (these are the true Power colours, but you can change them to another colour if you prefer):

EDHM-Powers1.jpg

Secondary Powers screen:

EDHM-Powers2.jpg

Next go into the Codex, it should look like this (please let me know if the filter over your portrait is orange, I had some trouble with that one in particular):

EDHM-Codex.jpg

Then GalNet news:

EDHM-Galnet.jpg

Fly around a bit, walk around, shoot some people, check the terminals in the stations, and please let me know if anything looks buggy

If everything is looking ok, you can start playing with the ini files, especially the bottom of Startup-profile.ini and Advanced.ini

** Change a value, save the file, then press F11 in-game to see the change

Thanks very much for testing the Alpha! Once we've squashed any bugs it will be ready for the full release and inclusion in the UI. So hopefully this process will only take 1 or 2 days (depending on the size of the bugs)

Here's the detailed update notes:

Special colour protection

- There are particular icons and text that are red, cyan, white etc, that give variety to the colours on the panels
- I've enabled colour protection for cyan, red, white, yellow, green, and purple elements
- Please let me know if there's an element that I've missed (ie. should be the original Elite colour)
- Once we have all the colours identified, in the next version I'll enable options to change those colours (for example, if someone can't see red, they can change the red elements to a more suitable colour)

OwnCarrier Nav Panel Colour
- Apply colour to the whole OwnCarrier panel

OwnCarrier panel text colour
- default Elite, custom, or matching with panel text colour

Mission Line on Nav Panel Colour
- Apply colour to the whole Mission panel

Mission Nav panel text colour
- default Elite, custom, or matching with panel text colour

Icons on Nav panel
- added customisation of secondary colour (highlights Ody settlements)

Interdiction
- Orange elements will take your XML, non-orange are default Elite

Custom current location wedges / pins should keep their custom colour across screens
- I can't mod the destination wedge colour unfortunately. Its icon isn't accessible to the modding software, and I can't target it by colour as it's default Elite orange, so we're stuck with XML on the destination wedge

Smokey texture in the HUD background (space drugs mode)
- By default, Elite has a 'smokey' texture that floats around the HUD, blurring the text and changing the brightness of the elements. It was taken out in v1.0 but you can turn it back on, and even boost it a little

GalMap System Connector Lines
- All those lines that show you the systems you can jump to
- Custom colour
- Also colours the 'System distance to galactic plane' line
- Don't use this setting to turn off system connector lines, there's an option for that in the Elite GalMap menu

GalMap System Hats (semi-circles on top of star images)
- when you hover over a star the GalMap adds 'hats' on top of all the other stars
- option to turn off the hats

Scorpion turret
- Not fully modded yet, but I added the XML to cover the orange. Your distro won't be fancy, but at least it's not orange 🙂
- Can someone with a friend with a Scorpion please check for glitches if another Scorpion is visible? (I use the Scorpion turret skin to switch on the XML for the turret screen, and I'm not sure if another visible Scorpion will turn on the XML overlay at the wrong time).

Station foot terminals
- The intro screen should now use your XML and text colour
- If you see an orange terminal screen can you please screenshot it for me? (Each category of station has a separate texture hash eg., Agriculture, Military, etc)

Powers and GalNet Background Colour Mode
- set the background colour of these screens

Powers Panel Portrait filter
- several options including true powers colour

Powers icons and Government icons now show their true colour across most screens

Galnet image filter option

- Usually the non-selected option is orange

Codex
- Background takes your XML
- Custom image filter is the same as for Galmap (I don't think they can be separated)

Menus
- Will take your XML colour
- I can't add options here as there are so many different elements that control the menus depending upon which screen you had up previously

• Various fixes for some orange icons .. if you see any please report them with a screenshot, thank you

• Fixed grey rhombus mod applying custom colour to the red rhombuses

• Changed description of white objects on the radar to reduce confusion about the setting

• Slight modification of the lighting shader to try and prevent random flickering on some AMD gfx setups

Known Issues:
- I've had to disable the custom panel highlight colour for this alpha test. It's basically causing glitches on every screen (whole panels are taking the highlight colour) so it will take some work to re-activate

Again, thanks for testing the alpha, and hopefully we can get the public release ready really soon!

Please remember v9.2 for Ody is an alpha test so expect a few bugs

Just fixed a bug in the Info panel, and while there I modded the charging bar so you can customise it however you want (the charging bar is part of the Info panel)

I've also re-removed the 'smokey texture in the HUD background' as it causes a significant FPS drop (about 5% on my old 1070).

Bug fixes and charging bar will be available in v9.2c

Download now available (but don't download it if you use EDHM UI, just wait for Blue Mystic to update the UI and it will automatically download v9.2c)

I’ve received a few messages about an error in the UI for v9.2. The UI dev Blue Mystic will fix it tomorrow, so maybe wait before updating the UI. He has posted a temporary fix on the EDHM discord, but should have a permafix ready by tomorrow (just as FDev Update 10 breaks everything :) )

I use this mod and it is brilliant but can I ask if there is a need to remove my shortcut for an update?

All my commonly used shortcuts are on the taskbar and every update breaks them and I have to re-pin. I thought an update is a patch so to speak and not a complete reinstall copying over old settings.

Is there a way to update without having to do this?

Hi, sorry I'm not sure what you mean exactly, my shortcuts to Elite don't change with the updates. Are you referring to the UI? I can't answer any questions about that as I don't have the UI installed, but you're welcome to ask the UI dev (Blue Mystic) on the EDHM discord (he doesn't hang out here)

But if you mean something else then perhaps grab a screenshot
