Is that number PB or B? Just doing the maths if its 30000 then thats 3 million assuming 100 each and we know lots of people funded way more. Then you have another 28000 to go into 850K. Personally I think that number is including Beta but I could be wrong

Frontier chief David Braben indicated that Elite will one day come to console - specifically PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - at the Develop conference last week. In fact, he told Eurogamer in an interview "we would be stupid not to".
OK

Elite: Dangerous, Braben pointed out, is built using the same engine Frontier used to create Xbox One launch title Zoo Tycoon.
Lolwut?!!!

Current Geek

Current Geek, a podcast about geeky things, mentioned ED. They mostly focused on the galaxy map.

They spoke of the dust from our position (Earth) in space blocking the view of the milky way and how much brighter things get when you get out of the dust.

They also spoke of the mixing of real and procedural data.

A lot of the other stuff they said about the game was largely inaccurate. I think it's a good indication of what people outside our influence and without Elite history think the game is.

It was Episode 21 (Roger Roger) which isn't listed on their site yet, but should show up soon, or it's on iTunes and rss.

To quote that Rock Paper Shotgun interview, didn't want to make new thread, so i post it here.

I really like DB answer here:
RPS: The long term plan you have now, how much was it planned already, what you expected to have when you launched that Kickstarter?

David Braben: It’s certainly where I’d hoped we’d be by now. All of these things, you do your absolute best to deliver the best thing you can, and I think we have. I’m very proud. There are lot of very, very dedicated people at Frontier, putting in many, many hours – I mean man-years – to make the game very beautiful, and I get to take credit for it [ laughs], which of course is great. The point is that there are so many moving parts to it, and I think that… Well, I hope that the backers are pleased with what we’ve done so far, and what we’re continuing to do. I believe we have delivered what we said we’d do, and are continuing to, but that’s not to say we should get complacent. I am absolutely hopeful and expect that, in the same way looking where we are now and back at a few months’ earlier and thinking ‘I thought that was good, this is better’, I hope by the time we get to release we will have continued that rate of improvement.
Very well said. :)

PCGamer: Elite: Dangerous team outline plans for post-launch expansion packs

A pretty nice writeup, though it does end with this:

As nice as it is to know the eventual shape of the finished Elite, that isn't entirely the reason for Frontier's update. As an early access release, there's an element of salesmanship too. Frontier are currently selling a Lifetime Expansion Pass—essentially a DLC season pass that guarantees all future updates. But added to the already expensive beta access price, it's a lot to ask for content that could be a long time from release. The Lifetime Expansion Pass is on sale until 29 July.

Of course they have no qualms about a competitor selling ships and whatnot for hundreds of dollars, which you will not be able to play for a year or two

I will take these honest lines over shallow analysis of the situation every day. Expansion pass *is* a buy-in. It takes a lot, and asks to trust FD for delivery. Add situation in industry where preorders are abused at amazing scale, and...it's kinda justified. We see it otherwise, but we have lot of insider information, and we are far from neutral third party :)

Fact that other game have it worse...Sure, but point to the case - it doesn't give FD excuse either. Personally I think it's cool, but anyone can exercise their right to be skeptical.
