Thanks for that, it's a good interview.

Comments on the other hand....I think there's market in Browser plugins who filters comments by typical trolls (Using nick names and emails to filter).

David *should* learn how to filter stupid, even toxic stupidity from useful (yet harsh and bit emotive) feedback. It seems FD knows how to do it, but David clearly takes to heart troll comments. Poor sod.

You can't be serious, that interview is completely pointless, he does not answer one question properly and the interviewer does not press him at all.
He's not Nixon.

There are far worse things in the world than making a videogame slightly wrong, you need to get over it.

In summary he says.

I'm sad some people are sad/angry, it's your own fault really though for setting your expectations on what I said I'd do. I'm trying my best though to fix stuff based on the sad things you say in forums in order to make you happy.

The game was released because it was ready to be released but we're busy still making it so don't worry.

The expansions won't split the community because people buy the newest call of duty due to peer pressure so it will just work the same here.

We don't need new players really we're just going to sell more cosmetic stuff,

I hardly play the game myself.

We still need to balance the game

If you've played a thousand hours like some players then you've had enough game, stop moaning.

Most games on discs are only 5 hours long and that's great

We've delivered on everything we promised except some of the things in kickstarter.

Most people don't praise the game that much as negative commentators are the only thing keeping us from just abandoning the game.

We did kinda lie in kickstarter.

:)

Bitter, much? ;)

This makes me laugh. At retail price, work out what you've paid for each hour of entertainment and tell me that's not value for money. If you're bored after a thousand hours, I really don't consider that a reason to complain.

Somewhat surface-level review. The score is a bit harsh IMHO, which would be ok if they qualified their score with some more concrete reasons.

I agree...their critique is too harsh. I guess there were just too many things to be aware of while playing ED for these critics to better enjoy the "game" beyond a 7.5 and 7.0 rating. Some people are just better suited to playing "Pong".

People who like to count hours forget about quality of those hours. Elite easily produces hundreds of hours of repetitive grind that isn't really worth the price.

It's like saying you are doing nothing but grinding in a MP FPS - you've shot someone in the MP; you've done 100% of what the game offers you! Now throw the game away and demand a refund because you expected something completely different!

i guess my point is, something repetitive can and most often is enjoyable.

That's entirely subjective and cannot be objectified. Claiming it is is ignoring all the people that like it.
I for one cannot for the life of me get behind the fact that some people have logged literally thousands of hours into Euro Truck Sim. It completely boggles my mind that people get their kick out of it and that is the point here too, just because you don't like doing something doesn't mean nobody else can like it.

To avoid buying something that is the "unenjoyable kind of repetitive" for you you could for example watch youtube videos or read reviews from people you trust and you know have an overlapsing like/dislike view with yourself on things that would matter for E: D. It's really not that hard to inform yourself on what a game contains and make a good judgement if you'd like it or not, hell, I do it every steamsale with a lot of games so It can't be that difficult or time consuming. And if it is I wouldn't put the blame for my miss purchase on the guys who made the game but rather me, who bought something without properly getting information on it. You wouldn't buy a car without checking what it offers and if you'd like it? So why would it be different for anything else? If the price is too low to be bothered checking information and gameplay out before the purchase then don't complain if you wasted the money, like noone would complain if they bought a car that is not performing like they expected it too without checking how many PS it actually has.

The only reason why I'd consider this to be valid would be major misleading or outright lies from what the game offers and in my opinion this is not the case with Elite and it would take more than "true offline mode has been removed during the development phase" to change my mind.
