Elite Dangerous is the Largest Empty Sandbox Ever Made

If the same feedback being made five years ago is being made today, I'd suggest there's something wrong.

Another way of looking at it is is that if the same feedback being made five years ago is being made today, and yet the game is not only successful but becoming even more so, the feedback was wrong then and is wrong now. Or, if not wrong, then not entirely relevant.

I can keep posting that I'd like it to be Eve without the subscription, but it doesn't matter how many times I post it, it's not going to happen.

Again, I would remind posters like you that we've paid for this in advance. Season 2 was paid for upfront and they are still only just getting it rolled out so hasn't actually been delivered in full yet. If FD don't like it if someone feels that the problems with season 2 need pointing out then they probably should have thought about that before they took peoples money upfront.

While I don't agree that ED is dying, there were absolutely problems with the content and delivery of season 2. I only hope they learned those lessons and season 3 gets it right.

and "full" at this point means "also here's Beyond throughout the whole of 2019, plus any unforeseen bugs / horror shows at rollout". the bafflement and frustration is to be expected.

I think there's a big difference between having a differing opinion and having mod-approved trolling of naysayers

If you have an issue with moderation then take it up with Brett, posting in threads is not the way to do it!

1792 points are only people who upvoted the topic, the 11% who downvoted it actually subtracted from the total number of upvotes. So, for example, if you and I upvote a neutron star screenshot but xx_devilTony83_xx doesn't like it and dowvotes, the post will have 1 upvote shown on the page.

Tbh I'm much more interested in the visits that topic makes, but the number is not yet shown for some reason.

OK well thanks for clearing that up. Though it is still that many votes agreeing with just a post.

I think that is the most frustrating part for some. Its one thing to not get your dream game, but to see the company who didnt deliver your dream game florish and prosper is to some adding insult to injury. Its like discussing where to go, and people vote for a different party then you would have liked. And when you arrive, it turns out its not only as stupid as you thought, but the people at the party are having fun. :(

How very dare they! :)

I think maybe everyone should take a breath here, if you don't the thread will just end up locked anyway.

Most people seem to agree that season 2 had.. issues.. with what it delivered. Likely they've tried to do too much and it bit them. Season 3 seems to go some way to understanding a large amount of the compaints that people have (ie QoL and the core game needs some development and depth).

We can all talk about what we'd like to see in the future while being polite to each other.

Where do you see the game is successful and/or becoming more so?

I ask because what I see is a team floundering in bad code or poor design, having to clean up their own mess as they move away from two years of a season that under-delivered into a year of updates to the core gameplay which are sorely needed (and widely called for by the community).

It's selling well.

That's pretty much all that matters.

Oddly I don't disagree (entirely) with your last part. I think 2.x was a serious mis-step (I personally blame MultiCrew), but ultimately it is what it is and they'll do what they feel they need to.

We've tried the "wait and see" approach for years. It hasn't worked so far. Getting the criticism out in time for the developers to react to it if they choose/need to is probably the more helpful way to provide feedback, don't you think?

Other than making a few small available adjustments to parts of 2.4 I doubt there's much that would change its overall arc. The idea that 8 months or more of dev time can be changed on a whim is just not going to happen. As I said earlier, I don't have a problem with the story-line, but it's way too stretched out in terms of a narrative that sits alongside it. The end result is there's an alien species but it appears most of the galaxy isn't particularly fussed. It leaves the whole thing feeling a little empty. Had they had dozens of Galnet articles and published them each day it would/could have made the whole experience much more alive. The other choice was to run all this within a matter of a few short weeks, not spread over more time.

I still think that when the main course arrives it will probably be very good, but whether it will wait til just before Christmas I dont know :)

The issue here, is that what cosmo wants may not be what a lot of others who play the game want. It may be detrimental to their own in-game experience. I have seen Cosmos list and to me it looks like he wants X-series corporations that are controlled by player groups. Which will destroy the game for me and a lot of others.

So instead of just thinking about what you want, maybe try to think of stuff that will improve the game for everyone instead or stuff that wont cause issues for other players that don't want that kind of gameplay.
