Elite Dangerous | Issues with Launching via Steam

Thanks Sally... seems to be working for me now so keeping my fingers crossed for other too. Appreciate the issue isn't a frontier one. Hoping the team at Steam etc have solved this now.

Clearly the problem is a Frontier issue. The launcher detects and error because the accounts are already linked. Sounds like a bug where if there is already a link then it should use the linked account and log you in.
Other games don't have this ongoing issue. It's a Frontier issue. And their refusal to address it in code is a problem.

In the current case, it is not a Frontier issue. One, Steam messed up an update that affected many games other than ED (which was fixed by Steam by now), and two, we're right inside the thursday maintenance window right now, if I am not mistaken.

Except I had this issue a few weeks ago as well without any steam updates. This a Frontier issue in how they decided to manage data. They could easily assign a key to your frontier account once you link steam and never need it again yet they don't. And heaven forbid you install the epic version as well as that breaks the login process until you around with it like shown here.
Frontier issue.

Adding a key won't magically prevent steam from borking an update, what even...
They wouldn't need steam again after adding a key to your account after the first sync... do you even think... what would they need steam auth for once they verified purchase? Never bought a game from EA or Ubisoft from steam? Don't be dumb.

Would still need the auth for services yes: was the same before april '19. Nothing to do with keys like i said.
-there is a reason i recommend people buy directly from frontier. (zero steam issues x)

Oh no, steam friendlist wouldn't work but they'd be able to log in and use the internal friendlist. The horror...
Please, go on with your excuses, it's not like I'm not a Dev for other studios, I'm sure you have much more experience than me.

I get the Steam update a few minutes ago, sign out from Steam client, log in, and it's working again (at least ED launcher works).

Just to clarify (I bought ED last Friday), is this an issue that happens with each Steam update? Will this go to happen when Update 15 is released?

No excuses, just saying that if it's tied into steam and steam borks the authentication, that is on them.
Not difficult or complex. And not sure why it needs contention. No need for belligerence. ^^

It can happen sometimes when steam messes with the authentication stuff.
-and no it doesn't happen every update, don't worry. XD

Thursday night, 10pm EST. Still having the problem. :(

Edit: Nevermind. Was told to update Steam. All is good now. :)

Because you paid Steam for the game and that's how they want it to work? You know Steam gets a say in how games you purchase from Steam work right? This is not just a single sided process, there are two companies here that you are dealing, this is one of the reasons why, even if it's more expensive, I always buy games from the developers website if it's at all possible.
