There is some gap…

I was trying to steal a power regulator, for upgrades. Got it in hand, but unfortunately I got spotted. And a lot of shooting against me ensued, … so I shot back,…. I lost and died on foot.

Paid the fine, called Apex to get me back to my ship still at the outpost where I died. Lo ‘n behold, my ship was now hot! What???!!! I wasn’t even on the ship when the crime was committed! Now I had to hand myself in, and me and my ship re-spawned in a nearby station.

Why was I punished twice? The ship wasn’t even involved in a crime! Fine, you want to lawyerly argue that it was a getaway vehicle on standby, it was indeed my intention. But, impound it at the detention center so I don’t have to fly to the same spot, TWICE, just so I can continue on the same quest! Nobody likes to be nagged by a dungeon master!

This is great, nice to see more consequences for murder. Please expand legal mission options, and expand the bounty hunting options as well. I want to chase a criminal across the bubble and into the black for a sizeable bounty, or be chased if I incur one.

Because if there's anything the game's been lacking thus far, it's legal missions and bounty hunting gameplay 🙄

another thing...cant even see LS distance properly, the galaxy map information is just a mess now...it looks nice but its not as functional as it was

Odyssey doesn't have particularly many legal missions, neither did Horizons before Horizons referred to the whole base game. Bounty hunting is lackluster, especially for PvP. You cannot realistically chase a target across the galaxy or across multiple modes of transport, you cannot ask for information on a bounty target or receive more information on them as a mission reward, and for PvP there's no system to ensure players with a high bounty or high notoriety play in open and have their bounties listed on a leaderboard for bounty hunters to chase. All of this could be improved is all I was saying.

Greetings Commanders,

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey has landed on PC this week and with it a whole new and exciting way to explore the galaxy! With these new additions the living universe of Elite Dangerous has become even more alive and we wanted to share some more information on how that will effect some key aspects of the game.

Background Simulation and Galaxy
  • Odyssey Settlements will appear in different states, that reflect one of the BGS states afflicting their controlling Faction
  • When two factions engage each other in a War, their Odyssey settlements will become battle sites and in turn host Conflict Zones.
  • When a war is resolved, all battle sites will return to being standard settlements under the control of the faction that won the most Conflict Zones at that particular battle site during the War.
  • Odyssey adds new actions which the player can carryout that have a knock on effect to the Security and Economy of a given Faction as well has increasing and decreasing the chance of certain states from occurring.
  • New Triggers include:
    • Killing AI
    • Interacting with Settlements in different ways
    • Selling different Goods to Bartenders
    • Selling different Data Bartenders
    • Logging Organics with Vista Genomics
    • Completing Odyssey Missions
Crime

Crime Storage:
  • Crimes in Odyssey will be logged and stored on the player at a Commander Level.
  • If a player commits a crime whilst in a ship, that ship (and all its modules) become Hot.
  • When a commander leaves their ship and disembarks on foot, they remain wanted
  • We have fixed an issue where crimes didn't clear when a player hands themselves in
Criminal Visibility and Scans

Ship Scans:
  • Ships cannot scan on-foot humans for criminal activity
  • A Basic Ship Scan will reveal if a commander (in a ship) is wanted in that jurisdiction (Local Bounty Only) but only if their ship is Hot.
  • A Kill Warrant Scan will reveal if a commander (in a ship) is wanted in that jurisdiction ( Local or Interstellar Bounty), even if they are in a clean ship.
  • If an on foot crime is detected whilst in a clean ship, this will make that ship hot, associating it with all the player characters current jurisdiction crimes
  • It will only register the ships hot status in the current jurisdiction, but will still allow the scanning ship to claim all bounties
On Foot Scans:
  • An on-foot human cannot crime-scan a ship
  • If a human performs an active scan on another human with the Profile Analyser it will reveal if they are wanted in that jurisdiction ( Local or Interstellar Bounty).
Criminal Death:
  • When a player is killed and their bounty is claimed they will spawn in a Detention Centre
  • If the player's ship was destroyed before or during the player's death and they paid for their ship rebuy, their ship will be at the Detention Centre, clean and waiting for them
  • If the player does not pay for their rebuy they can take a free sidewinder at the detention centre or a free Apex Shuttle from the detention Centre concourse
  • If the player's ship was not destroyed before the player's death it will be waiting for them at the Detention Centre
  • If the player's ship was Clean, the player will be able to board and fly it
  • If the player's ship was Hot the ship will be impounded at the Detention Centre
Ship Impounding:
  • When a player spawns in a Detention Centre all Hot Ships the player owns will be 'Impounded' at their current locations.
  • The player will not be able to transfer these ships or take them out until they pay a 'release fee' (This is a portion of the rebuy cost for that ship)
  • If the player was in a hot ship that was destroyed, it is not impounded, the player simply pays their rebuy and their ship will be clean when they respawn.
  • If a player was killed on foot and their active ship was hot, they will not have to pay for its rebuy, however the ship will be impounded at the Detention Centre.
We hope this gives a little more insight into how your Odyssey activities will affect your galaxy.

Wait we need more information on the CZ's.

So if only ship battles are fought in the conflict will any Odyssey assets change hands?

How do we know the current tally of battles per settlement?

How does winning settlement battles affect when the war ends?

Not really as they brought back the suicidewinding that all the carebears complained about 🤣😂

Yea I've been having this issue lately. It's not a good system; I shouldn't have to pay my bounties twice!

So you don't have to pay the bounty at all, just rebuy on the sidewinder? That's a bad idea lol. Why not just force people to pay the bounty when they die?

Probably will have to pay for the bounty but considering how cheap the sidewinder is it won't be much of an issue

I thought we were supposed to incur notoriety for killing civilian ships in lawful jurisdictions. Is this not so?

I just killed five civis and aside from the bounty, am as clean as freshly wrapped butter.

Is this an Odyssey thing, or have I just forgotten how C&P works?

So anyone has a definite answer? I have a perfectly engineered Corvette worth about a billion credits, that has a bounty of 2.5 billions from Horizons. I have died with this ship in the past a couple of times, but in systems where i only had a small bounty, so i paid that and i was ok. What happens if i end up in detention center somehow now with this or with another ship, do i lose the ship unless i pay these 2.5 billions???? Am i wanted everywhere because i own this and another hot ship??

Please make it so if you are wanted by a faction, then you will be refused docking clearance at any station/outpost/port/settlement owned by that faction.
This just makes sense.

The whole "anonymous access" thing astounds me.

Not working.

Can someone explain how I pay off a fine? i have yet to figure this one out...do I log in to horizons, pay the fine at an interstellar faction and then log back into Odyssey? How daft is that.

If the faction who fined you is present in the system, you can pay it at any authority contact.
Otherwise you will have to go to an out of system interstellar factor (Low and Anarchy) and pay it there.
