Does this mean that once Update 5 drops that there will be no further optimisation on PC until Consoles are ready to receive Odyssey?
My GPU is runnig at 101.5% power usage constantly in Odyssey... Yet framerates are low...
Thats how I read it, which to be honest is cack, unless it has reached the 'acceptable performance at 1080, as expected. I personally want to play in VR, it nearly is, but need a few more FPS

Thanks for the Update.

It´s really nice to see, that this incomparable project goes on. We are privileged to be able to travel through our Galaxy in 1:1 scale!

So if it wasn't obvious before, it's clear as day now. We were sold a Beta, at AAA Expansion price. We are an instrument of their QA team at this point. With all the Telemetry they're now installing with each update.

So if we are to be treated like QA, here's a modest proposal that will never see the light of day: Remove the Weekly ARX limit in Odyssey until the Console launch. If you want us to test your game for you, you should at least pay us, even if it's with your FD Funny Money.

Ladies and gents, calling for employee sackings isn't constructive criticism. The staff at Frontier who are undoubtedly working extremely hard don't want to see it. I don't want to moderate it.
So, to prevent any unnecessary and possibly permanent actions taken against your account, and to save me a lot of work, we'll have none of that.

Thanks.
I don't know if I'm expressing the position of at least part of the community, but at least I'm expressing my own.
Please, without malicious irony or sarcasm, tell the person who made this that roadmaps usually look different, as an example, please show my post on page 10 or 11.
Thank you very much!

Yeah, well. The name-calling is for pre-school anyway.
I'm not having performance issues, so my personal frustration with Odyssey is almost nonexistent.
I totally get it though. Bad performance is one of the few things that can really make a good game bad for me.
I have been called all of the usual insults over the last couple of years: White Knight, Apologist, Fanboi... Water off a duck's back as the ones doing the calling have their own problems and have to vent their ire somewhere.

The next few weeks will be interesting, I'll wait and see, but for now - I have an invite from one of my squadron to play a couple of disruptive surface missions, in Odyssey, of course, that I am going to have fun with 🥳

Roadmap

While I appreciate the update; this roadmap is barely sufficient, at least it tells us your going to spend some time working on it it, but some of the big issues affecting the community don't even get a mention. Do you really think 3 weeks is going to be enough to resolve everything? I was expecting a 3 month roadmap, not one for the month of June.

And your suggestion of monthly community updates: Great in principle, though we'll have to see what the content is and how open you actually are about what work is going on (I don't know if they still are, but Warframe used to be a gold standard for this). But you do realise that your entire roadmap doesn't even last for the interval between community updates? That's not a roadmap, that's a "here's what we hope to do before the next time we talk". A roadmap should have some real details (at least in terms of major content changes) for the next 6 months.

As for the release itself:

How on earth did you release something in this bad a state. You had to know the game was in this state, this can't be a surprise to you. Which makes the decision to release incredibly dishonest; you basically lied to your customers when you said "Here, have a full working expansion for the game".

I can accept that Elite isn't likely a major money spinner and thus doesn't have a large development team, but if that's the case you could have been honest and just de-scoped the expansion.

I mean, all you really had to do was release it as early access and then give us a real roadmap (not this piddling 3 week thing) leading up to the main release timed with the console release. A lot of people would still have bought it, giving you that cash infusion which I assume was your only actual real concern, but at least we'd have expected it to be a bare bones, partial implementation full of holes and bugs (which is of course what it is) not release quality software (which it's not).

I appreciate your efforts, but
  • Many improvements and fixes
Is not the proper way to do a road-map. This looks like a roadmap written in 5m just to be convenient. Not to mention the postponing of the performance issues to later...

Thanks anyway.
^^ This

An absolute minimum effort 'roadmap' to pacify the community...speaks volumes on how they view the player base.

But Yay...week one update...a fix for ARX...well why didn't you say, all is forgiven
