ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

First of all I would like to thank Arthur and the team for the Road Map to help us understand the plan of action for the next month.
Also a huge thank you for highlighting that Frontier view the community as the heart of Elite!
It was great to hear that past lack of communication has been accepted as a fault that Frontier intend to address going forward too.
One thing I would like to point out to those that are currently upset about the current state of Oydessy is "how many of you are willing spend the time to complain on this post but have never put a bug report in the issue tracker?"
I appreciate that Elite is something that we are all deeply invested in and severe issues like optimisation should be a priority. But please accept what's done is done and without positive forward movement from both Frontier and the Elite Community Oydessy's improvement will be nothing but a painful process...
I have faith that as we have already seen, the team at Frontier will give us the Elite we all wish for with improvements every week as stated in the roadmap and have learnt from their mistakes with this release.
Keep up the hard work Frontier ő7

1 hour in and 18 pages.
we are probably too far in for Frontier to still be paying attention.
but for my two-penny’s worth.

There was an expectation of a road-map being provided. Consider it mis-managed.
A three week delivery plan is NOT a roadmap.
Especially if it contains ‘fixes stuff’.

to my expectation, I would expect a roadmap over a slightly longer timescale.
I get the immediate deliveries but I would expect a roadmap to contain what is expected to be arriving after that (by month or at a minimum by quarter)
…up to the release on console.

I would expect a list on what will be arriving with consoles. (Extra PC specific improvements, current Gen console improvements to screen res or FPS etc. )
and then what to expect in the run up to Christmas (post console release)

…sort of selling to the public, why they should buy the Game / DLC…

Over two weeks after Odyssey launched and over a week since I raised a ticket I still can’t even log into it. Could you perhaps resolve this as I consider it utterly unacceptable.
Maybe a firewall block? did you check it?
Were you able to play odyssey at least once?

if you have a bad connection port forwarding could help..

Dear Frontier,

Let me tell how you solve this , and actually how it should had been solved alrady for a long time!

1 - A Vision of Future of ED as a modern Game (if that is even intended to be)
2 - You need to have more teams working on the project!

While its expected one team continues evolving and developing and fixing
Another team should be working on Console release,
Another big team should already been concentrated on point 1 with a roadmap for future content new content of Elite that community is asking ,and been promised several years ago in several occasions.

Then Roadmap would make sense to inform at least with planning for say 1 year

As Simple as that.

This you gave us today is B#%S

This really wasn't a roadmap. It was homework written on the bus on the way in (or out as the case may be). The crux of the issue is being sold a finished product that was a barely functional trainwreck of an alpha. No wonder your stock price has tanked.

I'm disappointed with this roadmap. it sounds like "we are doing someting but dont give any details because we do not really know what what we want to achieve or what the actual goal is".
All the information provided with the roadmap was already known to the community, except some release dates.

"Many improvements and fixes, including" - this information is meaningless, it could be anything or nothing and every week someone at FDev could say we reached the goal because we did something, like fixing onw single bug.

"Loadout UI flow changes" - should be "release of a new UI", with the information what goal you want to achieve. Otherwise it just means "we are releaseing something but we dont know what we are actually going to do until then". "flow changes" is an ongoing process, not a fixed date to get it done until then.

"Adding earned ARX for on-foot gameplay" - that is a clear roadmap goal. We have a goal and a date.

Even if you have some long time actions, you need to name them with a starting date and if necessary set the console release as the en date.

EDIT:

Maybe you should hire a project manager to help you to create a good roadmap and to manage it until its done. We do it for big projects at work, mostly internal project managers, not necessary with deep knowlede of the matter but with project management experience

Your straw man is ridiculous, and you know it. I've put in dozens of bug reports in the issue tracker despite its best efforts to not work at all. I've reported dozens of errors IN the issue tracker, as well. Three of the game issues have been addressed (one of them even appropriately fixed). Regularly all reports are swept under the rug. Actual progress on whether or when things are fixed is NOT available there, because it is NOT a tracker; it is a glorified, occasionally barely functional spam filter. Its main function is an excuse to not look at the issue reports.
