Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 5

STILL the same bad frames since before in settlements & concourses

Yesterday i disabled the glass shaders with 3dmigoto and got an fps boost.

Had my hopes up and got dissapointed again by FD. Guys seriously fix the performance ASAP. Its not cool i have to run 3rd party programs to get decent frames.

(deinstalled 3dmigoto to test stock performance)

Settlement Tutorial still ~18-25fps
Concourse 28-35fps

with 3dmigoto & disabled interior / outdoor glass shaders - Settlements 50-55fps - Concourse 50-60fps

3900x / 32GB / 3060ti / SSD

Edit: Orange Sindwinder Error again. NICE!

Ok everyone!

We've got sights on a fix for the disconnects - I'll be writing up a separate post shortly in the Forums so no info is lost here on next steps.

Thanks so much o7
Sorry to bother you, but I want to express my concern at all these small lighting and shader tweaks for things being "too dark" while it seems that most of these issues are caused by this:

Has this problem been acknowledged by the developers and if so, why all these small tweaks if the aforementioned issues causes the majority of the complaints? Wouldn't it be easier to announce an ETA for this fix, instead of making small changes that probably have to be reverted eventually to get the same graphical fidelity as Horizons?

Additionally, a lot of performance issues might stem from this as well:

Hi there, What is AMD FidelityFX CAS?

What does it do? Why do we have it?

And do you need specific hardware for it?

...And in other news.

Seen MASSIVE improvements in performance, currently playing in Ultra on my i7 2600K OC 4.5GHz GTX 9704Gb 16Gb. The lowest I have seen it go is in the concourse where it drops to about 25-27fps which is massively better than the 1-3fps that I was getting. I still need to check settlements and what not, and keeping an eye on temps and GPU load as well.

So, I am cautiously optimistic that I might just be able to play Odyssey finally! (Lets hear a woot woot), only if it wasn't for all these pesky snakes from the United Colors of Benetton.
Its a way to upscale images. So the game creates it at a lower res, than intelligently turns it into a higher-res image. It effectively looks better than low res while having mostly that performance. In EDO you determine the scaling effect with the SS slider and the sharpening (to counter the blurinnes) with the AMD slider.

For info on AMD Fidelity CAS go here: https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-software-fidelityfx

Please note Fidelity CAS is only part of all Fidelity FX framework (CAS stands for "Contrast Adaptive Sharpening"), simply put is an AMD specific solution for lighting and sharpening image quality , not related to any increase in performance!

EDITED: As for hardware needed Fidelity CAS works on all vendors as is open source!

Still no container 9 in settlement Corbet's Anvil in Giryak after patch.
I really hoped this has been fixed now.
Also sorting of containerlist is wrong container 10 is listet after container 1.

I know you have a lot of work and fixes to do. Another Updateroadmap would be nice.

As for hardware needed Fidelity CAS is AMD Hardware only!

are you sure its AMD only?

This is a bit like saying that AMD64 instruction set is AMD only.

A Blue Cobra error leaving the space station, a Gold Cobra after exiting my Cobra MK III in an SRV, and 4x Taupe Cobra errors after exiting my SRV to go on foot to tend to my mission at a planetary base. The Taupre Cobra errors have occurred in Open, Private Group, and Solo modes. :(

Edit. No Adder errors for me.

What's going on? This seems more unplayable than the previous release ...

Keep getting Blue, Mauve and Gold Cobras. Takes ages between transitions from normal space to supercruise and back, going from ship to foot etc.
