Online Manual page 22 under Super Cruise this paragraph is repeated twice.

• Your maximum speed is limited by the mass of nearby stellar bodies.
The further away you travel from stellar bodies, the more your Frame Shift Drive
can compress space, significantly increasing the relative speed you can achieve

I would just like to add that a scanned copy of the original 1984 ELITE Space Traders Flight Training Manual also appears for download and that it seems to be the one that I scanned from my copy back in the Nineties and cleaned-up as a donation to a BBC software site back then called ''The BBC Lives!'' I do not own the original text, obviously and make no claim on it, but wanted to make this small point as I've been a very long term supporter of the ELITE community. I cite into evidence a photograph of my copy (and it's uniquely damaged cover, now with more than a decades more damage) and the downloadable copy which was last posted online as GIF format images. That copy has been with me on three continents and many different countries.
