Elite Dangerous | Powerplay 2.0 Questions and Answers

Not quite following you, I played long in PP1, well to stay at the last rank and get my paycheck.
There on the tab you could see what you had to do and in what system.
PP 1 worked in a very specific way using maths that was very easy to mess up.

1) Credits are already available enough for anyone playing enough to get their rank that high that the actual rebuy isn't the bit which costs if you get blown up (especially in a small or medium ship), so it doesn't make for a measurable incentive for anyone who wasn't going to play in Open anyway. I don't think I've ever seen a PG/Solo player whose reason for not going to Open was the potential for PvP state that the rebuy cost was the reason.
100% agreed.

Credits for a ship rebuy are relevant for newbies/new comers may be in the very first weeks (if not days) of game time... for powerplayers of course it may happen to end up on the rebuy screen multiple times on a single evening if things are partcularly hot (few days ago one of our enemies lost like 7-8 times his PvP fitted Corvette) so if the balance is not particularly "fat" it's just a thing less to be "worried" about / but definitively not an "incentive" in its meaning.

The 2 portraits of Jerome Archer and Nakato Kaine are the only new ones. Fdev has enough talented artists to make new portraits for the old powers. We've been staring at the same old portraits for 9 years.
Could be worse, at least it indicates that they might not be doing a Dorian Grey.

Progenitor Cells...

Zemins torval went 125 to 133!!!, quickly, do a new pic to show the 6.4% increase in age...

And as CMDR Born in Lave, if the good Doctor Walden ruled for 90 years without aging, PP character can do with the same trick... Lave 2 is permit locked, but installation can be seen from orbit... also, Jerome is very similar to a young Zachary, and the good Rackham was mistaken with some pirate....

Lore to explain lazyness in design.

The intriguing part will be how V2s landscape evolves over time, and how existing groups react to the unfocused play going on (and visa versa). In this respect it will very much be like the BGS.

Depending upon how the merit earning situation shakes out, I’m pretty much going to going to carry on as I did before BGS 2.0 turned things into a straight influence grind: run illicit smuggling missions on behalf of the Feds to ingratiate myself with those corrupt Corpo Officials, while donating to the cause of those brave Freedom Fighters resisting the Evil Galactic Federation, with the occasional vacation at home to just chill.

Its very much yea. From whats been shown PP2 is like a new BGS that hugs you back.
I bet you wish you were in the Frontier Partner Program right now, and so do I.. :)

I can't wait to read the documentation in the codex and then dig into it.

I was wondering what effect the powers would have on PMFs and the BGS in general, but so far it seems like there is no direct connection, though I suspect that there will be some potential accidental side effects.

Yes - looks like no direct effect from what Frontier and streamers have previewed so far (one controlling faction is as good as another, so no incentive for PPers to change the ruling faction deliberately) - but because a lot of actions will have effects on both PP2 and the BGS, the (probably temporary) increase in passing traffic caused by a local Powerplay contest might be something BGS players need to handle.

I think it's a pity that those of us who are Alpha backers don't have access to the test servers.

A few, agonising weeks is tolerable. But if I was a streamer testing right now I'd be modules deep in BGS level experiments for PP. Sadly from what I've seen the Mandalay is distracting them from the real work.

Good, this means that they won’t have too big an advantage.
