Has more steam users and better reviews than ED:O. So, it's selling and until I see action otherwise I shall presume that is all FDev care about.
Right now ED has 6112 current steam users versus 5000 for PC2. And that is down from 20k after merely two weeks.

That isn't consistent nor accuarate data. If they had no underyling system to collate the data, how do they know the average bounties killed in a week? Or megaships scanned? Or settlements restored/looted/raided? Being able to do those things in game is not the same as FDev being able to collect that data to test apporpiate merits against.

That isn't an excuse for FDev. They should have alpha tested deeper, then setup a beta test with a reasonable cross-section of players to determine where time is spent.

I'm sorry, but if a developer doesn't really know what players do, after 10 years of the game being live, particularly after multiple instances of similar things being done, there is no real excuse.

They know. The rank levels and merit amounts are not an accident. They are that high for a reason. This is the developer being upset at the speed of progress, nothing more.

Frontier communicating they were aware of the data point exploit and disabling that stream was all that was required.

Bringing combat and undermining activities up to the level of rares to balance would also have been very constructive and in line with a lot of feedback I have seen.

Instead we get unhelpful messaging over "excessive" engagement.

While we're turning off the "works a little too well" things to earn merits, can we have a look at the activities that have abysmal returns for time invested? I.e. bounty hunting and combat

Spending a week at a compromised nav beacon and only attaining level 5 is a little disheartening.
Nope. Going by the fact they're nerfing everything except combat (so far), it is clearly working as they intended it to do. That is, until players pick it up - now it's the only thing giving any worthwhile merits - and it crosses the threshold of whatever "excessively used" is.

So all that tells me is that a 3rd party website has collated the data from 1 out of what 20(?) different activities. As I said, that is not consistent not accurate data. If they do not have the underyling system in place to collect the data they will not know.

Are you new to this 10yo game? Have you participated in CGs? Did you participate in the weekly thargoid events? Are you familiar with the ingame graphical progress interface provided?

There is no way in the world that Frontier doesn't have data on player involvement in these activities. Sure, they might consciously decide to purge this data at the end of each event. Even so, they know by the end of the week x amount of activity was accomplished in y amount of time.

AsI have stated several times, i'm not excusing FDev. I'm stating that LIve is being used as both Alpha & Beta testing ground.

It is really too bad. I was having fun hauling rare goods too. I am not sure I am willing to move to the next most profitable activity. I think as a community the best way to let FDev know they are screwing the pooch with their handling of PP 2 is to stop interacting with the feature all together. I just want access to the modules without having to take up my limited storage space. If I am being honest, I made it by just fine without them.

They had no reason to collect and store the data. Producing a graph for a one to two week cycle =/= storing that data for the last 9.5 years. If they have purged the data then they don't have it, do they?!

That apparently is the expected pace. The rate of return for combat and undermining is abysmal and should be much higher than it is.

Now consider a scenario where you may want (or need) to change powers and how fast you have managed to progress.

I have grave concerns Frontier is going to invest an inordinate amount of time on the colonisation feature, only to react exactly the same way.

What was a very promising future is increasingly looking very compromised.

And just to highlight the problem here even more, rank 5 might as well be rank 1, because real ranks cost 8k merits. The gameplay loop you've been engaging with so far, flat-out won't work in the long run unless it gets buffed in some manner.

I'm really expecting some buffs here to 90% of powerplay rewards.

I'm expecting more balance passes to come as FDev's game design intentions crash headlong into reality. I'm hoping that recent poor decisions are just quick-fire holding actions to buy time, to be reversed or otherwise rectified after applying real-world data on how players engage with PP2.0.

Collecting the rares and doing the assigned missions was my thing in this.

I don't do much pvp in space combat, I have a keyboard and mouse and am not suicidal
I love doing surface conflicts, but that was left out of PP2.0 !!!

Just bought Starfield.

This is all damage control right now. The PP2 system is breaking the BGS and they need to severely halt it's effects until they can implement a fix. that is what is really happening here guys...
