Just checking is this the week you resolve any of these?
Who knows, we also believe that some balance is needed on the combat merits as these are still too low and mining under boom BGS states gives too many merits.
 
Yeah, really mining merits are only powerful for a short time. You can get maybe a couple hundred thousand merits, but then the demand dries up and they slow WAY down.

By contrast, combat and other activities can last forever.

Probably the one that most needs to be fixed atm though is 1-ton trading. People have figured out ways to do 1 trade every 3 seconds or so, for ~60 merits per trade(15 system points). That's 72000 merits per hour indefinitely, and is basically impossible to beat.
 
The problem with combat merits is you can do them in a wing, which multiplies the control score by the size of the wing, while also reducing time to kill significantly. With certain scenerios i'd say combat is just as broken as mining...

Wing combat multiplier and rares in Carriers are breaking the normal approach to merits.
It can be solved rather easily:

  • combat merits can't be made in wings
  • rares can't be stored in FC, only taken and transported with a single ship as rares.

(both are exploits)

Its such amazing game play selling hundreds of tons in 1 ton lots too. Good job Frontier.
 
looking at leaderboards (if they are correct) there must be other ways to make lots of merits, seen several people show in leaderboards with over 1M merits withing 45 minutes of the weekly rollover.

Takes me virtually all week of limited playtime to get to top 50% so must be missing some quick merit methods

Those are not quickly earned, without spoiling any trade secrets there are multiple ways to bank merits over time and then turn them in all at once.

That means they scored so many merits over the week that just ended ('last cycle') not since the start of this week, I think.
 
To any FDev developer...

When will you guys fix/end the mess that PP has become?

  • Different ammount of merits earned depending on how you are contributing: combat (x4), exploration/exobiology (x6), powerplay commodities (1.5x) ???????????? Please make it 1:1 and if the problem is people complaining about how hard/easy it is to rank up, change the ammount of merits needed to rank up, not the ratio of "merits earned x effect on a system"
  • Fix the ammount of powerplay commodities one can retrieve: I just started the game, went to a Stronghold to get Garrison Supplies. The game only let me get 135 of those. Last night (more than 8h ago) I could get 270. (yes, I know I have to wait 30min to get more)
  • When will we be able to get back on selling Rare Goods to get merits?

Oh my... I just delivered 135 Garrison Supplies to another system (same Powerplay state = Exploited) and that gave me a little more than 800 merits 🤔

Yes, I meant more the ones done in SC spawns, as the spawn rates are substantially very random.

Edit: I mean or fix spawn rates somehow having at least 2 guaranteed enemy pledged NPCs dropping. 🤪

We have identified an issue where certain actions are being excessively used for Powerplay gains.

In order to investigate and resolve this issue we are temporarily suspending Powerplay gains via the following methods:
  • Rare Goods Trading
  • Settlement Data Delivery This is now enabled
  • Escape Pods
Once we have resolved this issue these options will be enabled again.

Will the Sol (and now Barnard's Star) PowerPlay battles between Archer and Aisling be used to help fix the S&R for Winter and Aisling?

As it appears, Archer was able to drop a mountain of bounties at the final hours to win in Barnard's star. Yet Aisling (or Winters) are unable to use their powers 'benefits' to do the same.

This does not seem balanced.
 
70k merits per hour of button mashing or 2k/hour trading normally, your choice

I personally, I feel that my choice would be between 70k/hour that, like mining, requires very rare circumstances that cannot be used strategically, nor can it be used for anything besides fortification. On the flip side, I’ve been generating, on average, about 13k/hour that can be used tactically, to acquire, reinforce, or undermine, and isn’t dependent on any one faction state.

YMMV, naturally.

Huh? I'm missing something here. Are you saying that trading (I only know of the "> 40% profit flavour) has a minimum of 60 merits? If so, I'm astonished that they nerfed rares and escape pods and didn't remove the minimum for trading.

Yeah, for some reason or another Trading gives something like the square root of the number of Commodities sold in merits per ton. Basically, if you sell your Commodities one at a time, you get something like 6,000% more merits.
