Elite: Dangerous Role Playing Game

Hi Spidermind,
Any update on the progress of the project?

Just posted

Even though the dice pictures do not really do them credit, I bought a whole bunch of the Sky Blue dice for my own collection. A couple of weeks ago, and in the middle of a D&D 5th editon campaign, I took a shot of some of them. The way the light reflected off them really captured the amazing effect created in the dice.

Working with PledgeManager at the moment both on setting up a pre-order store as well as getting everything ready for the backer questionnaire.

Hi Guys,

First up, a belated congrats on funding it and shaking off the IP claim.

I've received the email from PledgeManager and as I suspected, my D&D mates want in on the basic rule books, which I see can be added individually. But they have brought up some questions which despite going right through this thread (well, quickly) I could not find definite answers, so I thought I'd ask here...

Q1: Do any of the books come with "adventure scenarios" or "modules" in the old parlance, that really only the GM should read?
Q2: Are the sourcebooks meant for GM use or by the players? Could you elaborate on what is in each of them?
Q3: If the sourcebooks are not for GM only use, and thus probably don't have adventures detailed in them... How hard is it gong to be to make these adventures up?
Q4: Do you have any plans on releasing a "book of adventures" for at least starter levels? What about adventures for higher levels?

Basically, my players want to know if they should also buy the Sourcebooks (I will have a full set of them), or would that ruin adventures for them?

Looking forward to the release of the game! At least we will finally be able to find everything of note in a system with the Honk, and we wont have to fly all over the surface of a planet just to see silly blue circles on our radar. :)

Hi Red 13

First up - thanks, it was a real rollercoaster of a ride but delighted we had so much great support and patient backers, so thanks goes to you as well

Now to your questions

Q1 - The adventure scenarios in the supplements come in the form of an RGS. This RGS takes the form of a number of scenario hooks that can be chosen or randomly selected by dice roll, which result in a story with all the plot twists and challenges you would expect. What are not in the supplements are any specific missions or adventures.

Q2 - Source books are designed for use by both players and the GM. The players will have more ships to choose from and the GM will have a bit of depth to the subject the supplement covers.

Q3 - There are mission hooks already written on our resource page of egrpg.co.uk but with the RGS in each supplement, hopefully writing scenarios should be a doddle. The whole point of the RGS is that the time poor GM will have plenty of hooks once they have worked through it.

Q4 - A book of adventures would be great and something we would love to do but it boils down to demand. Our KS didn't generate enough demand for us to produce a whole raft of titles that we have planned for the ED Galaxy but we are still very keen to publish them. What we need to do is wait until we have released the physical book and if we can create enough interest then look to release further content.

Go ahead and encourage your players to get their own supplements if they want as there is extra equipment and a raft of information for every player, just tell them to avoid memorising the RGS and they will be fine.

Many thanks for your questions and thanks again for backing us.

With regards to buying multiple sets for your group, head over to the pre-order site as there are group bundles that might allow the whole party to chip in and each get physical copies

What about our earlier queries re: the UK Games Expo?

Will you folks have a presence there?
Really looking forward to checking out the projects of quite a few groups who I already know are going to be there.

Re UK Games Expo for 2017, we will not be attending this year.

With our launch coming around August we are hoping to have some first views of the completed book by the time we get to LaveCon (23rd - 25th June). This years Games Expo is too soon for us to have anything meaningful so we are holding off until LaveCon - We cant wait!

In the meantime, if anyone hasn't seen, we have our pre-order site now up and running so do take a look.

And if playerbase gets wide (or is it deep?) enough and the game "succeeds" then player-made scenarios, adventures and campaigns will begin to pop up; nearly-ready-to-play materials as well as session/campaign reports (which are good source of ideas and how-to's).

Especially if these are actively encouraged and a centralized media to distribute them pops up. EDrpg Gazetter ;)

Ie. the game is what the GM and players make it to be, and the game community (ideas- and stories-wise) is how actively the GMs and players contribute to it :)

Lave Radio Plays the Elite Dangerous RPG – Incident at Baijangu, Episode 1

As many already know LaveCon 2017 is being sponsored by EDRPG. Working with our friends at Lave Radio they thought it would be fun to play an adventure and present it to you as a podcast. This particular story plays over three episodes and will end with a special finale episode at Lavecon 2017.

In episode one of INCIDENT AT BAIJANGU, Oliver Hulme – Lead Writer for EDRPG – is the Games Master in an adventure that takes the crew of the orange Sidewinder from an Imperial Business office in Leesti to a Mining Outpost in Baijangu. Cmdrs Psykokow, Eid LeWeise, Elias Thane and 2nd Tech Fozza have been hired for a very specific task. What will they find?

Final Episode of Incident at Baijangu

You asked, Chris Jarvis delivered! Now available is the final part of the EDRPG adventure, recorded LIVE at LaveCon and now furnished with sound effects and music!

Will you hear Commander Thane fall to a fiery death? What is that strange banging sound from the cargo lift? What will Psykokow and Eid LeWeise do about a ticking bomb without 2nd Tech's +1 wrench? Where the hell is Fozza, anyway?

Find out in this final episode of the current series of Lave Radio EDRPG.

Those birds bring back uncomfortable memories of D&D stirges, a crowd of which were responsible for my first ever player character death. #scarredForLife

:D Your first character lasted long enough for you to get emotionally attached to them? Well done! My memories of my early days of RPGing mainly involve me rolling new characters! Some days were like being an extra in Total Recall...

I'm nearing the end of part two and I have to say Oliver Hume is doing an amazing job as GM. The players are also doing stirling work, all so believable. Well done to all involved. I'm even more excited about receiving my resources after listening to the Lave Radio podcast.
I'd love for the sound effects to be available for prospective GM's...
