Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

We need better system stats now. Shown at least to their architects, or only for player-colonised systems, if it's difficult to implement for pre-established systems.
I mean, we have the info on how various installations affect those stats, but we cannot directly see the result in the system.
Also there's "Happiness" in the bill, which we cannot see anywhere (apparently it's not factions happiness).

What do I do with my FC and all my ships on it now? Should I leave it parked at my CNB hunting grounds or move it here?
It's only 26Ly, has stations and everything I need for bounties. Or just bring my miners and haulers over here? Stumped.
Soleil keeps asking me what she can get me, but the beer shipment hasn't arrived yet. At least the tunes are chillin' Blues.

The FC is my home and it will stay so. My starport, if I ever get to finish it (hopefully, next Thargsday) will be its home port. Just as with ships. For the worlds I plan to build beyond this, no plan yet. And I plan to sail a lot, so that's were my heart is.

Bugs and server issues aside... I have to say I really like this update. Look at the beautiful place I chose to build a research facility. On the other side of this huge crater, right at the edge, there will be a tourist facility.
I have two nice planets in my system with blue (but a bit thin) atmospheres.
This one even has a snowy polar cap, so I'll choose a nice place for the facility there too.
Looks really neat & promising CMDR ! (y)
Just curious: How did you go about finding & choosing your eventual system? And were you hauling the materials with other players helping or did you just go hardcore solo?

i'm still trying to figure out what exactly is the point ( other than standard grindy game busy-work ) of all this vast Colonisation and psuedo "base-building" in this update , but perhaps the ultimate/overall greater purpose will be revealed later when wintertime "new feature" arrives.

My HR department is doing a stellar job!
They hired Bill Duke to my Frontline desk.

I flew here and there, scanning and looking through systems. It took me about 3 days to choose. I searched for a system according to my guidelines:
-No more than 10 planets.
-Planets as close to the star as possible
-At least two planets with an atmosphere, on which you can land, that simply look nice.

I am colonizing the system myself. Building an outpost was not particularly difficult. It took me less than a weekend. I made about 30 trips with a T9 ship with a cargo capacity of 776 tons.
Building ground facilities will be even easier. After one trip with 774 tons of cargo, it shows 8% construction.
I plan to build two ground outposts and then move on to the more difficult task: building a Coriolis starport.

Hello everyone. There was a problem, maybe someone else has the same problem? I chose a place to build a planetary settlement and started construction, I was asked to leave the instance. After leaving, I can not find the started construction of the settlement neither in the contacts menu or on the planet map. But there is a mark in the architect mode that one settlement has started construction.

server suffering from lag, atm goods can not be transferred over to the stations. and alot of mauve adders in the starting off the game

Anyone else not able to submit issues or even see someone else's submitted issues? If I submit, or try and read someone else's, it just says the issue cannot be loaded. I am entirely unable to choose a custom name for any of my 4 builds in my system, I can choose a random name fine, but not a custom one, and I can't even submit a report about it in the report tracker page.

im assuming this is by design but surface installations dont change the economy or markets of the stations in orbit around the body they are on.

this means that theres currently no known way to change economy at all except some random guy who managed to place down a high tech coriolis as his initial station (how?).

are we meant to just make cool looking systems that are functionally economically useless? this would make colonisation effectly dead in the water.

please make surface installations actually do something like changing economy in the system, its discouraging to place things down like "refineries" that cant be docked at or used at all and are basically there only to look cool.

CMM composites i cant find only some people are selling them on carriers

Use (the master tool, book mark this and set up an account) commodity search to lead you to the closest location nearby. They are available at planetary refineries. Never buy something from a carrier unless in dire need or the owner is your friend ;)

What I would like to know is if the big port you build (Coriolis, Orbis and so on...) and starting with a "colony" economy type do eventualy evolve to a new economy type depending of the infrastructure you build, because if they perma stay with the "colony" type, that might become annoying for trading.

Working for me. Just checked the Concourse again. VistaG, Frontline and Pioneer have all opened up.
Looking good so far but the cherry on top is my cute little bartendress. I hope she sticks around. 😎

not seem that face variation before. are the bar tender ones separate from the pilot models or have FD expanded on them?

its an issue for me as well, you can contribute here: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/72916

I built a military settlement earlier, and the system's economy is now listed as Colony, Military. I put up a tier 2 industrial settlement a little while ago, will check again tomorrow.

I stumbled on this enligthening reddit thread today Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1j4ugxc/its_happened/

Apparently, the player colonized systems influence significantly the factions missions available in nearby systems, enough to wipe all-time favorite mission loops out of existence.

quoting u/Myrkul999
To go off the other answer, specifically, there are - or were, I guess - several systems that were isolated, with only one or two neighboring systems within range to generate a mission to, resulting in an isolated little pocket of tightly-knit systems that have missions to each other. You could set up a nice little back-and-forth or triangle route, and the missions all paid well, so you got good progress. With the new update, all those systems are getting drowned in player-settled systems, so the triangle gets exploded.

quoting OP u/OldSchooolScrub
Colonization has killed my home system. Went from 5 factions giving missions to a single system to the factions splitting their missions between 4 new systems. Big sad. I nearly guarantee robigo will be gone soon too.
Basically it's going to be a bit harder to grind out money, your faction ranks, etc. It will probably devalue the ability to make money by doing combat, at least at the upper levels. Who knows if there will be some other changes, but there's always been well known locations to get certain things. Robigo passenger missions are great for a newer player to get money, mats, and rank, but those will change as people colonize more nearby systems as it changes how mission generation works due to the bgs

quoting u/Lanky_Yogurtcloset33
Except I have a chain of systems already halfway to Robigo. When I get done setting up a tourist system nearby nobody will be doing Robigo missions anymore

quoting u/stuhha
Just checked: Ngalinn-Mainani loop is already compromised

TLDR; say good bye to Robigo passenger missions, Imperial ranking loop Ngalinn-Mainani , Federation ranking loops Ochosi / Chakpa (courier) Ceos->Sothis (passengers), Qi yomisii massacre missions stacking, etc... as soon as a colonization bridge reaches them.

Can someone tell me what way is the grind if your doing it solo? Are we talking an hour a day series of supply runs for a week for example?
