Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

OK ... I "constructed" the space station. It is still "under deployment" (don't really care that much).
Then I went to a planet to build my "base" ... lol.
There is no base building.
It is just a selection of a "settlement" (complete set) of a type (agriculture, whatever), which belongs to a "local faction" (so, not mine), and even that we cannot apparently "build" - you just designate where it should be and the whole settlement will then after some time "magically appear" (just as the station magically appeared).
This is a huge let down for me ... I was really hoping I could build "my base", as in BUILD, i.e. choose modules, habitats, walls, whatever and then place them and build the bloody thing, which is then MINE, not this crap ... Ugh.

but you get to space truck cargo from one station menu to another like 100 times. it's super fun because trade is very exciting.

Yes, this is system colonization which is only choosing and placing facilities. You cannot manually select parts to build a custom base. Well it doesn't magically appear, players must grind commodities for many days, weeks to build something.

Maybe Fdev could add an option to place smaller modules together for a customized facility.

This is a major complaint for those who dislike hauling.

I mean, this was enough to get me back into the game in-anger? Actual reasons to ship a variety of goods... varying complexity in sourcing and dealing with logistics and scale...I enjoy those sorts of problems.
This is a live beta test, please make suggestions ))

I think you misunderstood. That was about people getting stuck on the colony carrier ship. Not their FC. It was also a referring to the suggested ability to revoke an entire claim on a developed system. If people had stuff stored on that station that now was deleted when claim was revoked. It would cause an error because their ship location would equal null. Right now you can do an unstuck command. You cant do that with ships that you are not active in.

So there would be nothing relatable to a different ship design. Unless I am the one misunderstanding or quoted the wrong post.
Thank you for clarifying.

Yes ships etc stored on a station would be an issue however, the developer could utilise the redeploy feature to get around people being in there and simply make ships stored on stations that no longer existing something that has be transferred to an existing station before they can be reclaimed and used.

Try my guide out

I will 100% concur the UX for this isn't great, but what UI elements comprise that do work if you use them the right way.

But yeah, you can definitely find what you need to, it's just not necessarily intuitive
Thank you for this, I'll check it out and hopefully ease my frustrations :D

Okay, I'm confused about the cost of tier 3 stations. When I looked a few days ago it was only 3 T3 points, but I just finished earning enough and now the stations need 6 T3 points. I don't have any T3 stations at all yet either.
I think you're confusing the Corolis which is a Tier 2 and costs 3 Tier 2 points and the Tier 3 Ocellus etc. that costs 6 tier 3. I have 2 systems with the primary outpost complete, have not finished a tier 3 yet, and in both cases the Tier 3 costs 6 Tier 3.

Does this work in reverse for donation missions?

Like parking in an industrial or high tech station within 20ly from a system that produces high value metals for example...
Not really.

As far as i can tell, donation missions just pick a random commodity (from a subset) to donate... thus those remote outposts in the middle of nowhere are sometimes just all- commodity donation missions for all sorts... not much logic to it that i can see.

Ah well, I've already given up looking for donation missions for merits. It's just too random to be consistent.

It wasn't intended to be a base building. This seems like some sort of new feature - maybe will come at some point to the game. But what you expect is completely different mechanic. I think it would be nice initially to get a "guild buildings/star ports" in the next update. Not customizable yet - but would be cool addition to already implemented mechanics of placing and building stuff
