Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

Until they silently change it again you can currently just get both by building a colony economy around the correct type of body. I'm not going to quote a body type until we get some patch notes. I'm expecting further changes. So far none of the information has been valid for more than about 10 days. In theory the problem might be resolved but it could also unresolve itself real fast.
And this is the next core issue:
Even if we figure out what is going on, they are still messing with it and do not communicate.

Which is the most annoying part about all of this.
The changes would have been fine, if they would have offered a solution for people who want a specific economy and would have warned people about what is about to happen.

I started a Orbis above an Ice Planet with 2 Ground and 2 Space Slots. Orbis is in Space Slot 0, Space Slot 1 has a Space Farm queued and the plan was to build 2 Large Agri Settlements on the planet to flip the Orbis to Agri-Economy. I have no desire for the Orbis to end up as Industrial Station.

Now that's an idea: A way to darken the canopy, just like some cars have the feature.

Not that they will ever implement such a thing, but hey, it's an idea.

Thank you for ruining all our efforts since the beginning of colonization by imposing economies on us because of planet types.
Everything that's been done in a little over a month is good for the trash.
Now it's going to be difficult to have stations other than industrial ones, given the number of icy planets.
Colonization had been so well received that it was necessary to ruin everything.
Obviously we don't have the same definition of "System Colonisation Beta is not a work in progress".

Yupp, the update actually made me buy Arx.
Something I now deeply regret.

Unless we get a proper appology and ALL my stuff is fixed to my satisfaction, my wallet will be closed for the forseable future.

I don’t know if you’ll read this, but adding a minor feature to relocate orbital installations is at a bare minimum necessary given beta changes.

Make it a new construction type selecting an existing orbital and then an empty slot, where all it costs is some tritium delivered to the colony ship based on size, and then the station will be moved next tic. It would relieve player dissatisfaction with any future changes if it was made cheap enough.

Hi folks,

We are aware that there were some issues with facilities and System Colonisation economics during the weekend. This was an error and not an intentional change and has been reverted. We are committed to looking at improvements and potential changes to the way facilities and the economy works in regards to System Colonisation, as well as how we can improve documentation. Where possible we will endeavor to share economic and facility changes in update notes.

We thank you for your continued patience and feedback during the System Colonisation beta.

Could we please be able to relocate the facility while is still under construction?

Thank you for the information.

Can you please be a bit more specific: Which issue exactly do you mean? The planetary economy influences? Or one of the other issues?

please dont throw the baby out with the bathwater however......

perhaps the planetary influence was too strong, but in principle i think its a decent idea that depending on the composition of a planet it may help (or hinder) certain installations.....

Yay, so I can continue with my original plan for my little corner of the Galaxy!👍

Anyway, as I wrote in the other thread, planets having an intrinsic economy influence is not bad in itself. It resolves the stations around non-landable single orbital slot planets/stars not having useful exports—but it should act like the default "Colony" economy of unspecialized stations and be overwritten by facilities that give a different economic influence. That would be the most flexible system where every station around every planet can be economically useful, but the system architect can still freely steer the effects to a desired direction🙂

Thanks for the update Paul and we hope the patch to go with the Corsair works well. I hope very much the facility changes mentioned above include adding shipyards to Coriolis stations completed last month (please!)

Everyone getting excited and we don't even know which problem was fixed. The planets may still have influence, but the number of items in a market might be what was corrected.

If it is the one that got the most attention over the past few days - add influence to an orbital around a planet that can't have ground installations, and leave the ones that can have them open to the player. Of course, any fix that sounds easy is probably a huge undertaking with ED.

Documentation is the key. This content is way too time consuming to be figured out on the trial and error basis.
No "undo" also means we can't correct any mistakes, which makes the documentation doubly important.
Thanks for the update Paul!

100% this. This isn't like experimenting with the BGS where you can just do some throwaway actions. These take time and effort, which can't be wasted "messing about" to see what happens, when building that experiment can take up to a month.

Appreciate the information but what was the issue? What was reverted? Im completely confused?

but it should act like the default "Colony" economy of unspecialized stations and be overwritten by facilities that give a different economic influence.
I would add to that, if a station specialization after economic influence has been added matches up with that of a planet, it could receive an additional boost.

In-built planetary economies aren’t bad on paper, just when they are applied arbitrarily to anything on and around them without judging if that matches up with the intended build plan.

What issues do you mean? To my knowledge economy influence from planets started on wednesday (and furthermore, it wasn't a strictly bad change, just brought about in the worst possible way, without warning, UI, info, documentation....).

Was it something else that actually started during the weekend?

A great deal of facilities have been started with the knowledge that innate ELW or rocky influence is going to make them usable, can we expect those to be bricked?

Can we get some kind of tool, additional resources, conditions, a stimulator, something like that to forcibly change the economy from colonization to another in t2 and t3 stations? The system generation is not always favorable for the ability to pick up the necessary, sometimes the main station is not placed correctly, sometimes the lack of necessary pools on the planet, sometimes there is no pools at all. Construction is still a serious, thoughtful and pragmatic occupation, and not dependent on randomness. It would be nice to have such an opportunity, please
