Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

I claimed WISE 1741+2553. Delivered the beacon. The colonization ship has arrived. I started to deliver aluminium. Left the game for some time. Now the system colonization state is invalid, the beacon and colonization mission have gone and only colonization ship is still there waiting for more commodities. Should I forget about it and start a new system? Did they just manually disabled the system or it's claimed by someone else?

I haven't read the entire thread so I don't know if this has been already asked. Anyway:

So when you build a new station its name will be randomly generated, and you can "reroll" the name up to five times. Can you revert back to a previous name if none of the subsequent names are better, and you liked a previous name more?

Maybe it would be better if the game gives you 5 names to choose from outright, rather than doing the reroll thing.

I bet this is ARX lure ;) Spending ARX you can freely rename they said on stream.

Some feedback/suggestions after the first few hours:

  • The process of buying a claim and shooting out a new nav beacon is simple and fun. I like the little messages that accompany this process
  • I was scrambling from station to station trying to find a Colonization Suite module because the wording of the release notes seemed to indicate I'd need a new optional internal module. Might want to update the help files to tell new players to check their existing module fire groups.
  • Allow the player to choose the minor faction present in the system they're colonizing from to be the controlling faction in their new system.
    • If that is too unsettling, I would have preferred my squadron's supported minor faction to expand. At present, I'm helping a rival expand which isn't fun.
  • I really dislike not having a choice of where to orbit my first station.
  • I am completely ignoring the CMM Composite discussion because I am choosing to believe that by the time I gather the rest of the needed materials, "something" will have been tweaked or done to "sort that out". The more I think about this, the more fearful I become. Please don't make my hours count for nothing.
  • The UI works for me, the process feels like its always been a part of the game.
  • I have no idea how people are going to do this without a fleet carrier. Even with it, as a solo player, this feels daunting. I hope other constructions are less resource consuming but I feel like they won't be.
  • The ~750t max space for a given cargo ship is very, very painful for this. Thankfully the thought that I'm building MY OWN SPACEPORT and that I can name it something meaningful to me is enough to keep me going through the tedium, FAR more than for this week's community goal.
    • I think it's a broader feature, but I would very much love to see something done about loading logistics in the game. It's strange to me that you go to a market and buy in discrete, shippable chunks over and over again to bring back to, generally, a fleet carrier. A system to make bulk purchases at a market sent to an orbital platform where FCs can dock at and have cargo loaded over time (maybe make it a mini-game, at the very least you pay a premium for this) would not only make this less painful but would be engaging to me as someone who enjoys roleplaying.
Given the bottleneck of loading and unloading at a sub-1000t rate, I have absolutely no idea how this system at these numbers will ever allow players to realize their dreams of colonizing the black. It feels like lore-wise, that's intended. It does kill a lot of my original hope for the feature, it's just going to be impossible to chain even outposts to where I want to be. If I could have started my system anywhere in the galaxy, and eat the cost in time and resources to have to make months of hauling trips, I would have preferred that to the month of daily, dedicated grind for a system I picked not out of love but out of practicality to the design.

I'm still very much looking forward to that completed port though. It's enough, for now, to keep going. I likely won't colonize another system with this setup though.

It happened to me too. Game did not recognize me as owner of the claim. Relogging helped.

Actually first I claimed another system, but was not able to deploy the beacon. Restarted the game and saw it's gone. Tried another one and here we are. Now I relogged and see the mission to deploy the beacon... to my first system.

Quick question
Is there a pinned/ or easy to view list where i can see what current commodities i require once at a station?
I'm currently taking photos every time i leave the colonisation station. ... and that rhymes!

Flimley

an excel sheet is a nice thing to have :)

This is intentional. The System Colonisation contact is available in the core systems and in all successfully colonised systems which have completed the primary port. Certain signature systems cannot be claimed.

This doesn't answer the question of will we ever be able to colonize systems within 15 LY of colonia without building a bridge (which would take 29 irl years at current speed)....

Is the plan to exclusively allow colonization around the bubble, or will Colonia area be enabled eventually? Should I spend the weeks it would take to move my FC back to the bubble or wait?

It would be really nice if we could highlight the commodities we need on the commodity market, and if the colonization ship would show the producers of the needed commodities, like the commodity market does.

And just to pile on, the CMM Composites are ridiculous.

I also liked the idea I read of extending the deadline at certain milestones. I understand the limit is to prevent squatting, but if someone delivers 25/50/75% of the needed commodities, they're probably not squatting.

I had the same issue. I moved to the place, where the station is supposed to be built and reloged there. The colonization ship appeared then
Hey, when you say it happened and you fixed it by going to where the station is to be built, how did you do this? for me, I cannot select any of the station slots (where they can be built) , it just selects the planet next to it when I do that...

I am really sad because I would really like to keep my system that I claimed

I have relogged about 15+ times so far, jumped in and out of the system, changed ships, etc. tried literally everything, the system will not let me call the colonization megaship no matter what I tried...

Is anyone else having issues with cargo/inventory transfers between your ship and fleet carrier? I'm attempting to transfer items and unless my eyes are tricking me, inventory is vanishing into thin air instead of going into my ship hold.

So the following is in the description:

The third faction in a newly colonised system will be the one the System Architect's squadron is aligned to - giving you a direct way to spread BGS factions further outside the bubble.

I've asked this question time and time again - WILL PMF APPLICATIONS BE REOPENED?

The CMM Composite requirement for building a Coriolis station or even an Outpost seems a little steep. An Outpost requires 3,912 units of CMM Composite which requires a bunch of system-hopping as the biggest single supply is 364 according to Inara. Should be sharply reduced as this will otherwise be a significant resource bottleneck.

For comparison, a Coriolis station requires 11,261 units of CMM Composite.
and the construction ship required list not mach with this items, it require more and materials wich not listed here
