@Paul_Crowther Paul, please, answer, what about Colonia lack of colonization contacts, checked 4 systems - it's a bug, or done intentionally?
This is intentional. The System Colonisation contact is available in the core systems and in all successfully colonised systems which have completed the primary port. Certain signature systems cannot be claimed.

For some reason I keep getting told that "System Claim Unsuccessful" been trying for quite long now, even went to another port.

There's nothing there and the icon is green (if it weren't I couldn't even start setting it up). I go through the process, accept the 25M charge and after a little wait, I get this error "System Claim Unsuccessful".

There is a Fleet Carrier hovering above the only planet in that system, could their placement block other users from building there?

I'm having the same issue, submitted to Issue Tracker.

I noticed Beagle Point can't be claimed. Although it would take years to get there, I think its still a good move that you made some iconic systems like that off limits (y)
Ditto with Jackson's Lighthouse and the Great Annihilator, which I looked up in the colonization map. Yes, some systems should remain uncolonized.

For the placing of the claiming beacon, you have to go to the ship's fire groups and set the sci suite to a fire group, then be able to deploy the beacon, the info told to you with the tutorial and mission screen doesn't tell you this.

CCM composite -Recommendations
A) remove requirement for CCM composite.
or
B) Increase production rate at source bases. *(by a lot, from current rate)

At current production levels with how much is required and how many things require it, asking this much *(lol) is too much.

Insulating membrane
Recommendation:
either increase production rate at orbital stations or remove requirement for insulating membrane.

Insulating Membrane does have a decent stock in the Bubble, around 100k or so, with the highest stock being 10,737 at the moment.

the small orbital stations many only have 5, to 11 available at a time. *I have a market network of 1400 ish, I know from experience what availability is like. the high in stock stations are rare.

How long does it take the colonization ship to arrive?

I have deployed my beacon three times now which seems like a bug.

1st deployment, I get a message that it is contacting the ship. Then nothing few several minutes, I waited about 30 minutes then logged off.

Got back in the game and got a message that I need to deployed by beacon again!
2nd deployment... same as the first.

Logged in again and I have another message to deploy the beacon for a third time.
Anyone else having this issue?

I'm having seemingly the opposite problem. Put in a claim on a system, I got the message about having 24 hours to deploy, went to the site, deploy doesn't work. Look at the system map, and even though I'm marked as system architect, there's another colonization beacon here and a colonization ship already. Also another player's carrier next to the ship, so I'm guessing what happened is the system really was claimed already and the contact mistakenly let me double claim it?

The process to find a system is very good in my opinion. I'm guessing the 15LY restriction will be expanded. In my opinion it will need to be around 30 - 50LY because most people are looking to get out of the bubble asap.

+1 regarding CMM Composites: either reduce the amount needed, or else sharply increase the supply.

Overall, my first impression is very favorable.

So my own thoughts...
  • It's cool that commanders can make some money from their colonies, but it would be very cool if they could keep certain commodities for members of their own or friendly (designated) squadrons too
  • The amounts of commodities needed to build one colony are, from my own experience so far in the game, just under 52,000 t per base. It would be less exclusionary for solo commanders to peg the limit at what can be kept on a single fleet carrier
  • Regards the 15 ly limit (I know you're going to change it). A great many commanders including myself want to build colonies out deep in the black. I want to build tritium mines to help fellow commanders right out in Tenebrae. That's 44,000 ly from the bubble (give or take) and with the 15 ly limit that would take me or a group of players (to the complete exclusion of ALL other types of gameplay, just doing colonisation) almost 19 YEARS to complete, in real time. This is something that must be addressed. A limit that reduces that to a year or two, that's fine, but to deny the players that really do want to build out is a bit crappy.
