Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

I still have multiple inoperable developments in the system I've been building, with seemingly no rhyme or reason as to why (even after multiple "ticks"). Do we have any substantive updates regarding the "docking offline" issues?

Have the same issue. Built a new surface settlement, on completion the construction elements disappeared correctly but docking and market have stayed offline through the last two Thursdays.

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/74057 seems to be the most-contributed-to issue raised for this, currently at stage "Confirming".

I think the military outpost needs some love. I have one in my system and frankly does very little. Landmines appear in other stations in the system and thats about it. Docking at the installation gives you access to refueling and whatnot but there is no option to buy commodities directly. At the very least it should offer weapons for sale.

Also can't figure out how to see my system development level. Other commanders keep saying their systems are of a certain score but the only score I see is the colony one that the game gives for the weekly credits. I know I'm missing something obvious but any help appreciated! Thank you
Hi Commander,
I think you need to open a ticket, if it isnt fixed with the Thursday maintenance. My orbital military outposts all have a market, although they produce different commodities.

Orbis completed this week. According to DaftMav's latest workbook, max population should be 134,480 in system. But...

1.5 million!!! Crikey! What?

I completed an orbis in a new system (primary slot, nothing else in-system) yesterday, no shipyard or outfitting. I guess that this implementation borked. Anyone else had similar?

The population you see in the system map is probably? true, but rises for each passing day, it seems, until a certain point is achieved. The new population effects are yet to be determined. You can also often see tomorrow's population late the day before in the system summary in the left-hand panel (where you see # of dockable ports etc).

Population maximums are also affected by what objects are in the system. Terraformables and water worlds boost it substantially, and i wouldnt be surprised if the ELW systems got hundreds of millions or billions living there

It seems they have. I am currently offloading my carrier onto a colonization ship (and getting really tempted to gesture obscenely at it for repeatedly parking on the opposite side of a large class III gas giant of said ship, I had to move it three times after arrival for a semi-decent spot), only have to buy and take off from the carrier, none of the double market access shenanigans.

... here's to hoping it survives more than one patch.
What now? Is this related to parking a carrier right next to the construction site or they fixed the bug where the ship inventory wasn't keeping up with buy orders from carriers?

Not the parking issue, but where you would buy a commodity from the carrier and it wouldn't show until buying another or entering market a second time.

Makes for some good quality of life if you're carrier loading/offloading for colonization.

Overview of Trailblazers Experience
(Week 10)

Current Progress and Objectives
To better contextualize where I am.

With the small outpost completed, and a major redesign of the economies of existing systems, my attention has turned towards my first settled system. New projects are getting spun up to support not only the materials the system is generating, but also the quantity. The process has been smooth sailing so far, just another 210,000 tons to move.

The Tier 3 Planetary Port is currently sitting at about 20% complete with 174k tons remaining. This project has been ongoing for about four days.

The Everlasting "Is It Worth It" Debate

I've been trying to quantify and track my expenses, including weekly carrier upkeep, tritium fuel, commodity purchases, jump costs, and any financial impact having other commanders involved. Unfortunately LLMs can't hold that much data, resulting in hallucinations and I will have to resort to manually tracking in Excel-likes (LibreOffice in this case, I'm done paying more Microsoft tax) for transactions. Maybe I can build some level of automation there.

Tools feel fairly limited so far, with basic counts for project demands, how much as been delivered and how much remains. I appreciate these tools, but so far they don't account for things like cost, carrier capacities, and other commanders (without requiring those other commanders to log in to a service they aren't primary for.) I appreciate the work people are doing to build the various tools around colonization, however they just aren't fitting into my workflow yet.

While make Wallet-Go-Up™ is my gameplay objective, I'm not too worried about earning a lot from these projects right away, I just want to be sure that any losses I can see are reduced so that the overall work results in a net0 or better. This exercise in tracking the new port has shown me just how legitimately expensive Tritium fuel is.

Further out from established ports and when the Trailblazer Megaships get re-tasked, costs and ease of availability will likely take a hit. I would love to be able to build a reliable cluster of systems that can help furnish the materials we need for building outside the bubble.

Not much progress this week as work has proven to take a lot of time and some other interests have come up. I also put some time on the platinum rush which was nice and has paid for tritium.

I would like to be able to move more cargo at once, but I'll have to wait impatiently for for the Panther Clipper.

Planning Ahead

Now that I see economies popping up for my stations, I need to analyze them and plan out further expansion. The current systems I have are pretty much test places and not really intended to supply much in the way of commodities. Once I get these completed, I'll see about trying to build out an actual depot.

Not much else to say. Just cargo hauling. Friends of mine have stopped caring about Trailblazers and have jumped off of Elite to other games. A nice galvanizing push at the start, but the honeymoon period is over now, so those that haven't been invested in Elite for a long time have dropped off again.

Because the nav panel isn't always truthful. Wait until it tells you that a settlement has appropriate size landing pads for your anaconda, and then you get there to find there's only a small.

There's also a bug affecting settlements, if the owning faction goes to war in the system the settlements will simply turn off their docking access instead of properly transforming into ground CZs.

Really hoping they fix this. Was so disappointed when I took control of one of my systems and I didn't get to do any ground CZs :(

Hello Commanders,

A question, what is the difference between a commercial outpost and a civilian outpost? The ratings seem to be the same, except for happiness for commerical.
