Elite Dangerous | Titan Cocijo Vulnerable!

According to inara it was just rigged to go down to 1.4 billion hitpoints which means meltdown would set off shortly. Few hours at most - if it is accurate (we'll know soon).

FDevs reduced the contribution for complete CG, but we still have 3 heart to destroy before meltdown.
what makes you think they will "force meltdown" upon completion of CG?
we have an ambiguous clause in the CG... "If Titan Cocijo is not destroyed within the week, the pledged rewards will not be available."

successful completion of the CG and meldown are "tied or not", reward will be granted in which case? the verdict to posterity...

I must've looked too early, because the inara figures hadn't yet updated completely*. Of course, the overall contribution went down with the total as well, which makes it likely to take some more than just until tonight.

I would assume that the completion is upon meltdown triggering, as that is when the Titan is defeated. The explosion/destruction is more just extra flavoring on top.

*By which I mean the site is currently displaying 1,352,209,388/1,400,000,000 when that isn't accurate (and was at time of making that other post, its contributions graph accurately reflects the 950 mil figure).

Well, it could be a close one, but the playerbase has the potential to pull it off - narrowly - even if Frontier don’t intervene in any way.

Claiming it was done three times is still disingenuous. Yes, they buffed the Titan hitpoints even when the CG started but that was a baseline laid out fairly clearly and accessible to things like third party sites. And they also buffed the hitpoints from 800 million to 2 billion when it turned out it would have gone down within ~3 days at - and thanks - to that initial Thursday peak, so that the most people could participate, and Mechan does say it was the right call.

But do you actually, seriously believe someone at Frontier was up before 5 AM on a Monday watching the Titan hitpoints like a hawk and said “Hm, this needs to be made tougher”? That’s just absolutely ridiculous. Think about the fact that it’s the transition from weekend to, well, working week.

My last sentence ended with a question mark, as the perception was that there was a third hit.

As they've god-handed at unusual hours before, it wasn't out of the question/realm of possibility that it had been done again, hence the rumblings.

The opinion that it is the right call doesn't invalidate an opinion that it was the wrong call no matter how badly you want to parrot that it does. Let us "Bash the Bug" together, shall we? That is, of course, unless you want to keep being a confrontational moop/parrot? <3

I'll try to explain myself better, my doubt arises from the fact that DCoH progression is still slow,
despite the lowered contribution for CG, considering both sites are updated, which could be wrong.

The CG is an unusual one in that the total CG progress isn't the sum of individual contributions - it's just the Titan's health, rescaled onto a single bar.
(So by definition, the CG will complete at exactly the same time as the Titan goes into meltdown, because both will happen at the exact moment the Titan loses its 8th heart)

This has taken the remaining hitpoints down from around 650M to around 450M - still a lot, but probably saves about a day of attacks, so it'll probably be Tuesday night/Wednesday morning rather than Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Inara's "Contributions" measure expects that total contributions for a CG can't go down (until today, a safe assumption!) so is showing the wrong value. DCoH, and the graph on the Inara page, are showing the correct amounts.

4 hearts in 4 days. That means that 8 hearts = 8 days. Last I checked, a week only has 7 days.

And what's worse is that at least the first heart, perhaps even the first two hearts, had less health, because Fdev pumped up at some point the health of the titan by a factor of at least 2. Which means that the destruction of the remaining 4 hearts will be slower than the first 4.

On top of that, it's not the weekend anymore, so people will have less time to play.

People are taking for granted that the titan will be beaten by thursday. I don't really know why they are being so optimistic. There are only three days and three hearts left. Three hearts with more health than the first couple of hearts, mind you.

I'm not as optimistic as others seem to be.

(Of course I'm still sure that Fdev will grant the FSDs even if we miss the deadline. It would be too much of a backlash, even by ED standards, to just deny the reward at this point. It's only a question of what they will do if the community fails to complete the CG by thursday.)
Don’t get your hopes up for that.

FDev will be back at work and the boost to ensure everybody had a chance to play over the weekend will be dialled back so the Titan will go full boom by Thursday.

Hello all!
After a four year absence from playing I'm back!
I woke up in an Anaconda parked outside a station! Lucky me no-one had nicked it.
I didn't seem to have enough money to kit it out properly so I sold it and bought a DBX and off I went to Colonia and back.
Now at least I have some money from exploration.
I saw the news about the titan Cocijo but on reading that you'd need this and that decided to leave it and hunker down doing missions for the Federation (just for the corvette).
Still keeping an eye on the news saw the shout that the titan was vulnerable and "Grab a Thargoid Pulse Neutraliser, Caustic Sink Launcher, and a Guardian Nanite Torpedo Pylon from any rescue megaship and take the Titan on in Sol!"
so that's what I did in my DBX!
Wow!
After getting through and where I thought I should be, I started trying to shoot.
Opps! Got kicked and spent a few minutes which felt like eternity looking down at the beautiful Earth then bang! Dead!
I tried again and after just getting through one interdiction, barely, only to be interdicted again by a commander! Boom! Dead again.
After this I went back to doing missions but took on some combat instead of delivery (and every pirate I took down I imagined was that commander)
I was still reading and looking at videos about the titan and read someone (I'm sorry I didn't make of note) mention using the DBS, a much cheaper ship that runs cooler) and then came across a youtuber called Grimulas. Wow. He made it all make sense and using the Pulse Neutraliser now becomes much easier.
So I tricked out the DBS as best I could and using my skills from combat regarding use of heat sinks while escaping I can at least get to the titan and shoot!
I have managed to hit the vent thingies now a couple of times but then got taken out by the aliens.
Question. If I went to open play would I get to the titan to find other commanders there? Or is it possible to find a group who might take me under their wing so I could at least get round the back (keep it clean!) and shoot my....guns!

Add me in game (same name) and I'll ensure you get your participation! o7 Commander, welcome back!

Welcome back o7.
I strongly suggest you look at Ricardo's Gaming 'Basic Ship No Engineering Titan Bomber'.
As my Squadron Commander Drip just said, we're here to help.

Well I was just in there, no rewards for pineapple blasting despite being really up close and personal, presumably they'll come but if not that's going to affect taking it down before Thursday somewhat.

If the CG is not completed in time and Fdev just announces that nobody is getting any FSDs, I'm certain that the ED community will take it graciously and in good spirits.

"Oh well, at least we tried. Good effort everybody! Better luck next time. Great CG anyway."
I thought the same but I'm pretty sure Frontier are DM'ing this last Titan to pop according to their own plan. I enjoyed a good bit of Titan blasting over the weekend and I'm glad they pumped it up to enable that, otherwise I don't think it would have lasted until Friday evening. In Mechan's video he stated that over 18,000 are registered for the CG, and that's just Inara, which puts this one way above anything else.

CG registrations are one of the (relatively small) set of things where the in-game numbers are provided, so the Inara figure matches the in-game one and does include people not using 3rd-party tools to record participation.

(As mentioned elsewhere, the all-time record for a CG so far is 21,630 participants back in 2017. So far this one is on track to beat that...)
