Approximate map of the new beacons (some of the systems are not in EDSM!)

Distant Worlds 3 confirmed 😜

Also:

Speechless that I'm up there in the list. I'm finally somebody 😯

Quick Question for the FDev CMs, because maybe I misunderstood the wording of the contest (so I can understand better for next time):

In your initial post for the YOUR name in Elite! Tourist Beacon Competition, one of the rules stated this:
" Note: Only one submission will be accepted per player. If you submit multiple screenshots, the last one will be considered your only valid entry. "

And I see that for one of the winners (GeckoNova), his top image is the one that won; yet he has more below that, as the forum displays them in descending order:
(link to the entry in question)

Am I misunderstanding the rule here? I assumed "the last one will be considered your only valid entry" meant the very bottom image of your post if it contained multiple, since posts function in descending order.

Edit: (Upon digging through the submissions, I've found a few more situations like above out of the winners listed. I'm not trying to nitpick, I'm just wanting to understand the game rules better for next time).
Surely they have taken the last screenshot to select the entry on the contest and, with them, they chose the winners. After the winners were selected, they have taken the best image from each winner's post to put in the final video.

In any case, for me all the winners deserve the award, like any of the rest of the participants, they are all great efforts.

Congratulations to the winners, I am looking forward to seeing the beacons in the black.

They really should give this beacon as a reward for players that reach triple Elite or have reached a huge amount of hours played and also make it a part of the story of the game.

Surprisingly, that's a large amount of CMDRs these days.
However, getting Triple/Quadruple Elite could open up a form in-game to rename a system of your choosing, maybe that you discovered, and be able to name bodies in it (obviously anti-profanity filters and edits only by contacting FDev)? I think it would be a wonderful way to say "This is my contribution to the game/community" within the galaxy!

Well well well,

First of all, congrats for the happy selected commanders and thanks to all the contestants : Their beautifull submissions can be found in the original thread.

Second, well, I am a bit disappointed by two aspects of the final selection : it is very much stéréotyped, with no space legs at all... et more importantly it is FULL of just "mugshots" of ELWs... plenty of winner show no indication whatsoever of any compliance to the given criteria of featuring as many aspects of the system or quote :
"Try to show off as many features as you can which make the system interesting and a strong potential tourist destination!"
I suppose I made the wrong choice amongst all the screenshots I could have proposed, but more importantly I feel like the final evaluation hasn't been made by those who gave the selection criteria in the first place.
Of course, some CMDRs actually managed to make beautifull images that showcased their proposed system... but plenty of those selected didn't :(

To all those who weren't choosen, I totally share the feeling that they looked at the system more than at the pictures we were told to bring. Many of the most stunning pictures I noticed haven't won for some reason I don't understand (except different artistic sensitivity of course).
Even thought, bravo to those who won, I can't wait to visit your systems !

Of course we all deserve beacons, and that's why it is a little painfull. The prize was so up, we fall from high.
I don't give up my hopes, when they need new beacons, they may remember those who had made it, and where never retributed. Someday...

Until then, be well everyone o7

I've noticed in the list of winners for the screenshot contest that I was included, and for that I'm very happy!
However, I noticed that my name was typed out as "King_Inf3rn0" instead of "King_INF3RN0". I hope this won't be an issue with capitals while typing it up for the beacon, and my OCD pushed me to request it be specific... if that's not too much of a hassle!

(I sent a message on the forums but I'm not sure it was seen)

Congratulations Commanders! I hope to see your names in the Tourist Beacon spreadsheet soon!

Remember to let us know what beacon number you get assigned. =)

YES - Very much this!

Some of us have made it a bit of a goal to visit ALL of the beacons personally. There are only a handful of commanders who have done it. I'm currently collecting the ones which have been updated in the last couple of months and checking for others at likely candidates. PLEASE let Lucienn know when the beacons appear in game. I need to plan my next round-galaxy tourist trip.....

Hey, thank you for accepting my humble contribution! I can't wait to return to it and load up the beacon text.
I was way up in Rackham's Peak when the contest was announced and thought "OMG! I need to get down to the plane and halfway across the galaxy ASAP, and get a shot of that little earth-like around that neutron star!!!" So I sped off in my little DBX and made it there in record time.
I will definitely be visiting submissions of other winners and non-winners alike. The competition was fierce!!! Some of those vistas are absolutely spectacular!
o7 CMDRs!

When I read the rules of the competition, I understood that FDev wanted interesting systems, not just beautiful pictures. And, while I haven't seen all the entries, so I might be wrong, I think that many of the proposals I have seen were simply "beautiful picture in an otherwise mostly unremarkable system with an ELW".

For example, I have discovered more beautiful ELWs than the one I submitted. However, the moment I read the rules, I knew I had to submit White, Blue, Black, and it was ultimately selected. And the system and the pictures aren't that beautiful, to be honest. But interesting? I had never seen an ELW with a 90° axial tilt, and I haven't seen another one to this date.

So maybe some of the contestants misunderstood the conditions to have their entries selected.
