Elite: Dangerous Trailer now with added honesty

If he's got a Hauler, yes, that's pretty much his experience. I have a Cobra kitted for combat and an Oculus DK2 and it FEELS like the trailer when I'm fighting. Just missing the music.

There's a warning about a "Drug Reference" at the start if the video? Has one of the pilots got a hypodermic hanging out their arm or something?

My experience with the game is that it feels absolutely nothing like that in combat. Its fun, and pretty damn cool, but its nothing like feeling like youre in a star wars film.
That was just way too fast paced and coordinated to be close to the real experience.

Point of the video was to be funny though, more than anything.

Jags video didn't claim that it was anything other than a trailer. It did compare trailer to reality, though.

As cool as it is, a LOT of people have thought the same thing after watching it. Id say it was pretty clever to put this together... especially this quickly.

Each to his or her own though.

Well, the "actual footage" sections were exaggerated in the total opposite direction to the trailer, so neither is the true picture of course... but I guess that was the point of the video. And I did laugh. ;)

While it's a funny attempt, I think he should have more accurate tried to replicate the trailer.

The ships in the trailer clearly do not make a hyperspace jump, but rather a supercruise from an asteroid field to a nearby station (like from an extraction site, to the station near the asteroid field)
Same with speed of cargo scooping and showing what actually happens if you fire weapons near a station. :D

Yeah, that was the point. It was aimed at being funny rather than a full on honest trailer. That would just be boring! :p

Funny, but whenever I play Elite, it's always like the original trailer, only I do more back-flips, get more kills and earn moneys. :D I swear! I am that good. Come to think of it, that's actually what is missing from the original trailer - epic dough scores and a chi-ching sound. XD

On a serious note - I like the trailer, it's cool, but there is actually some things that make great impression in Elite and are not well "scripted" this way. It might have been better to make something more honest and less Michael Bay and show some of the parts where the game really shines.

Oh, right... could you teach us where you downloaded this phantom version of the game please ;).

Its a fun game, but after seeing this trailer I wish it was more like that! Very star wars'y

He's playing gamma 2 which has been out a few hours - I'm not even done DLing it, so he's done well to knock that together in such a short time.

Yes as the author illustrates the trailer's unrepresentative of the game... just like every other trailer. Oh well - caveat emptor.

Ive no idea why a random 10 year old has been introduced into the picture, but...

It isn't funny to you, but it is to many others. Opinion is a funny thing, you know... not everybody shares one.

The trailer was great, but why does that mean you cant poke fun at it? Others can appreciate this without getting offended, so why cant you?

You have all of the hallmarks of a person that has had a sense of humour bypass.

Well that didn't take long! Its good that such ridiculous pre-rendered trailers get called out for being a load of bovine bio-waste. I'd like to see one done that actually compares like for like, but jolly good show anyway!

I don't know why they didn't just get the same guy who did their previous ones using in game footage to do a new launch trailer, I mean the beta trailer was a little misleading but at least it was in game and mostly true to the setting and frankly was a million times more accurate and representative that this new one and was a better composed and presented piece of entertainment in my book also.

I was watching a stream of a huge battle between at least 15 guys. It was really cool all of them fighting over some cargo. Not to the extent of the video but some maneuvers were really amazing.

I see the point you are makin in the vid, and I second you, but another thing if your not having fun, is to play with friends, really lightens the universe up.
