Elite Dangerous | Type-8 Update (18.08) | Wednesday 7th August

Well coding in public is like doing math in public so yea, there is a bug in that.
material[N]=max(maxMaterial[N],material[N]+reward);

And what if there is exactly the same line of code for mats and commodity? I tottally get actual solution idea. You can't have more cargo or mats than the cap, and you can't missclick and have 0 mats/cargo reward.

Find 1-2 HGE - then trade down and you may fill up all the lower bins.
I always did that and never bothered with lower grades materials.

Or do missions? Or AX combat, freeing systems?

Or buff the encoded/degraded options that we come across while playing the game rather than piling it all on only signal source that is ever worth visiting for exactly 1 of the 3 types of mats needed for engineering gameplay. They never freaking change, nor do the white-knights of realm. The systems are now filled up with signal sources that serve zero purpose. There is absolutely no reason to ever visit any of them anymore. Farm HGE only.

I'm not interested in doing AX combat, i have had more than enough of it. I had hoped they were making mats more consistent throughout the gameplay and should have known better.

Meh... Does jack-all for gameplay and eats 30% of performance. I'd rather have the flickering shadows fixed🙂

Agree, but then we don't get that either. The shadows and jacked up low angle lighting are one of the worst issues for just ruining otherwise great visual moments.

There never was a "need", that was just the fastest method :)
This is kind of semantics.
I don't like grind, I don't like relogs or "raw markets", but If someone has limited time for playing and/or wants to do something fast, this way was the only way, so we can say that player need to use it.
And in fact... relogs aren't the best for server time :D
We need that time for carrier jumps timers hahahahaha

Since my first day I never read any post about looking anything other signal than HGE tbh. Even if someone needs just few G1-G2 mats almost always there is advice like: go to the place where is a lot of G4-G5 mats/data and fill up you pocket, and trade. I know it is the fastest way, but if it si most common way, that means that udpate change only one thing - less relogs.

Yeah, I get it. It's just a disappointment to me. Why have 50 signal sources in a system and then make sure that only 1 of the 50 is anything you might visit. I'd rather they just remove the clutter and at least I could use the FSS to find the sources I want rather than zooming in 49 times on something that is just now visual clutter.
It also looks like my raw mat woes will continue. I have the bug where no G4s EVER appear in any of the volcanism or brain-tree forests. So I have no real casual way to gather raws. I thought those were being added to mission rewards but have not seen it.

I agree that relogging is bad. I just don't get why they can't sprinkle the rewards into the missions organically more liberally and stop with the 'you have to play THIS way to get THAT' stuff.

Type-SRV Deployment
We are aware of an issue where the procedural generated nature of some terrain can make it difficult to deploy the SRV from the Type-8. We are looking into a solution for a future update.

Just dont fix it.
IMO it's a small price to pay to be able to enjoy the biggest medium ship

I mean, obviously T-8 is pushing the envelope really hard.
Requiring a rather flat terrain to be able to deploy the SRV is a really small price.

I'm sure that would already be implemented if it were simple.

The Python (MkI) had a similar issue for a long time when driving straight out the back. Eventually it was addressed by tweaking the collision boxes a bit so the SRV didn't get stuck as easily.

The weekly cap for earning ARX by playing is 800 by playing both Live and Legacy (400 each all going into the same pot).

I know it's been mentioned many times in the thread but...the orbit lines are really messed up. They're way too thick and the toggle no longer works. In fact the toggle makes them stationary! The old non-aliased versions weren't that bad if you just considered them to be "ship's guidance computer" generated as part of the immersion ;) Besides, isn't there a fair amount of actual "bugs" to be worked on instead?

Maybe this one was the work of a FDev summer intern... o7

EDHM-UI team has a work-around and a mod to let you disable the orbit lines shader with a hotkey on their discord.

I guess it's now too late to try and sell the 40 I have in stock to some not-up-to-date-with-the-news commander for quick profitsssss🤪

Stick 'em in the FC bar... Someone is bound to take the bait!

Might as well do it for laughs😀 Caveat emptor, here comes the space Khajiit with wares and Ferengi mindset!

I feel like I just racked up some bad karma and some poor soul somewhere is cursing me to no end:p Put 40 power regulators for sale at my carrier yesterday evening as a joke, and now they're all gone for a cool 60 million credits. Thank you, unknown commander, for financing my brand new Python MKII; I hope you can sell that pile of PR-s on to the next victim🤪 Caveat emptor, indeed!

There also appears to be another possible bug with the orbit lines. Sometimes a small orbit line circle appears in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing there, and if you fly towards it, it doesn't seem to change in size. I don't know what the circumstances are needed for it to happen.

By the way, the new orbit lines are a bit too thick to my taste. Maybe something like 75% of their current thickness would be better.

Just tell me.

When Frontier RAISED the price of Stellar ship variant from 25,500 ARX to 33,000?!

EDIT: Nvm, my memory is damaged, it seems. 😫

I made 270 Arx yesterday, just playing around.
As with everything in this game, it can be fun, or 'grind', with many choosing not to have fun by the sound of it!
Also mentioned above, do a few on-foot High CZ and those 400 have been earned in an hour, not 'grind', unless combat isn't your dog...
I seem to have similar ease, my method is elegant in its simplicity.
