- When deciding if we should go hostile to a faction we just shot, consider whether the target has a local bounty rather than a bounty with their own faction. Prevent people being attacked by the police after attack nearby wanted targets


Not sure that's fixed. Just got a bounty (and had to run like crazy) for firing on a wanted pirate. Did I mention that I was returning fire? That's important too.
 
You are the one who shot an innocent with a weapon.

If I have a continuous beam hitting my target, it's not my fault if someone flies into it. S**t happens in combat, some leeway is both sensible and necessary. Especially if it's just a glancing blow on the other ship's shields.

Is bounty hunting now broken in 1.04? I've gone to an Anarchy system Nav Point, scanned a ship with the kill warrant scanner and found that they have a bounty on them. When I fired on them, I gained a fine for assault and became wanted when they were destroyed. Odd and makes it difficult to earn much :\

The patch notes suggests that its fixed. Nevertheless, I've had it happen MORE. Twice already today with pirates who were already targeting me.
 
ALL ships should have some tolerance towards stray shots, it shouldn't be a straight-off one-shot and BAM! you are an enemy.

What if they don't have shields etc ?

Imagine you were walking down the street and pull a gun out and it goes off, the bulelt flying past someone's ear? Would you expect everyone just to go on with theri daily business? :D

Not a fair analogy, "being attacked by a pirate" isn't analagous to "walking down the street".

While I agree totally with you, how would it work if it was a one shot accidental fire hit. For example a rail gun or cannon fire? Its one shot but it packs a helluva punch. Maybe those weapons would have to be an exception to the rule.

The launcher is still broken in HiDPI on Windows, as it has been since they changed it. Broken as in the contents is squeezed up into a corner. Many people use higher resolutions now so it's a bit distracting.
 
Is it at all possible to get a download size indication on the progress bar when updating? Some of us live in areas that don't have the amazing internet speeds and data limits that you are obviously enjoying (eg - I'm stuck on 15gig per month at 200KB/s wireless broadband). I have to always just "hope for the best" with these updates and assume it's not going to chew through another 4 GB or similar. I understand the updates are incremental, but some of us really need to plan and allocate our minimal data plans. Steam and other systems are the same. They just assume everyone has the internet plans available to them that they take for granted.

I whole-heartedly agree with this. Something like the X-trilogy would be nice: strikes on friendlies would aggravate them and result in a verbal warning. Continued attacks would result in them flagging as hostile and retaliating. Larger ships had more tolerance, stronger weapons aggravated more quickly. Did a very good job of sorting misfire from treason.

cant upodate the game because of data.ovx validation failed along with 10000000 other people fix please its your servers not us
 
I just discovered what my problem of somehow shooting the police my auto turreted weapons was set to fire at will by default instead set for only my target. In order words fire at anything and all around me thus hitting the police boats.

[h=3]I have a turreted weapon on my ship, but it's refusing to fire/firing when I don't want it to. What's going on?[/h] Turreted weapons provide full automation for the pilot who likes things to look after themselves. They are able to be set to 3 modes, via the right side panel Functions tab, Turret Weapon Mode option. Here you can set them to the following:
Forward Firing - they will act exactly as if they were standard, fixed mounted weapons, firing only on pilot trigger pulls.
Target Only - automated setting, will only fire on enemies that are targeted by the pilot.
Fire at Will - automated setting, will fire at any enemy targets that come within range.

So I set it to Target Only much much better I can feel at ease targeting the wanted and firing away, even if there are bats flying all around me.
 
Well, it looks like the servers are playing up again! I cannot access either the BBS or the CM without getting either a message along the lines of "Unable to get market listings", or kicked out with "Cannot connect to xxx server". Drat it!
 
im sure 1.04 is a bit laggy..er than previous updates i have played alot with no real prob whatsoever .. but 1.04 has shown more lag there thats all im still flying though
