Greetings Commanders,

An update will be released for Elite Dangerous Live/4.0 on Thursday 16 May. The update will contain the following fixes:

• Fixed issues with Guardian Fighters hit check not behaving correctly.
• Fixed an issue where attempting to swap a core internal module with a stored module was being blocked for Pre-Built ships.
• Ensured new players correctly remain in Solo Play until performing an initial hyperspace jump which will then transition players into Open Play.

Release Schedule

• 7AM UTC/8 AM BST - Live/4.0 Servers Offline
• 9AM UTC/10AM BST - Servers Online and Update 18.05 available

These times are estimates and are subject to change

Hopefully you will revise being able to have SCO running at 0 throttle and then go FSS scanning, while the ship is doing hundreds of C and burning fuel

Haven't seen it mentioned yet anywhere but did they ever fix the NPC SLF not hitting target with fixed weapons?

Was wondering why this wasn't a thing.

Odyssey missions being what they are though, anyone taking a foot mission as their first job will be forced to return to Chamberlain's to cash in.

stop this happening the instant a new player spawns into the game and takes off in their very first spaceship

No, not since Odyssey - even starting in Horizons doesn't put you in the noob-zone any more.

Other way round. I think it currently leaves them in solo but is meant to send them into Open.

Can't you fly there, or get an apex to there? (Assuming you use a workaround for the first-time-Apex-user bug, which doesn't allow you to select a destination outside your current system.)

Nope - you don't have the permit.

The noob-zone only works in Legacy.

Honestly I'd say "either make the noobzone work again for new players, or unlock it since it's no longer needed".
I've never actually done the assault courses and the like that are supposed to be in there and it might be fun to zip through them in a speedeagle.

Forcing brand new players to solo to avoid being ganked first thing is good but no substitute to restoring the starter zone (Dromi, Matet, et-al). Please, this is needed. There are dozens of guides and documentation - including the game's own training and Pilots Federation license onboarding - that reference the starter zone. There are plenty of surface stations where to send on-foot new players, if that's needed.

Great thing imo, but also why not also put permit locks on all starting systems? This game attracts a PvE centric crowd, and that would probably be welcomed by many.
