Community Event / Creation Elite / Frontier FAN ART

Okay, here goes. Let's start a Fan Art thread.

I'm calling this picture 'Relative to: Merlin' and it's based on a screen shot that came on the back of the Frontier: Elite II box (PC version).

Feel free to add your own pictures to this thread - in fact please do. The more the merrier.

Corel Painter X plus a Wacom graphics tablet. Painter is really cool for doing this type of work. It only took me about an hour to do this picture, but with more time you can do some really impressive artwork with the software. Also, I've scaled it down for this forum, but I actually did this picture in 1920x1080 pixels and you can see really nice brush stroke effects with it.

So come on Steve, where's your picture?

I'm not sure I'm talented enough to do one justice! I actually ordered a Wacom Bamboo One on Friday to have a play with a pen and tablet in photoshop. Give me a couple of days and I'll see if I can do something :) don't hold your breath tho :D

Yours looks really cool. Looks for all the world like actual brush strokes!

That looks great!

You wouldn't think it wasn't a real painting.

I need to draw something* frontier-related myself. :(

*) anything that isn't something politely referred to as "doodle".

Cool, thanks. If you do want it as a screensaver you can download the high res version of the picture if you like. Here's the link http://www.bluelocust.com/inhouse/frontier/RelativeToMerlin02.zip

I'm hoping they'll be quite a lot of potential screensavers coming from this thread.

thank you sir :D
i'd love to contribute something arty to this thread but i couldnt really do anything good with a pencil let alone my pc! i was quite impressed i managed to get an F in G.C.S.E art and design! i only did it cos my mates were doing it to if truth be told!

When I was in school, I tried to draw a Cobra Mk3.
It was a bit harder than I thought, even with a pencil, paper and a ruler.
I managed a recognisable version of it if I recall. :)

I'm working on one at the moment but I'm a bit slow and it's taking me learning a stack of new techniques.

Don't hold your breath for anything brilliant :D

That's a bit sad...though to get back into nerd mode, I guess the wireframe graphics of the original Elite is what makes these models easy to make with all those flat surfaces
And, yes I did have the Airfix moon figures (complete with buggy) way too many years ago

ah...they're supposed to be lurking, waiting for a big trader. Maybe I should have drawn skull & crossbones on them.
