Elite / Frontier Elite on iPhone/iPad/Android?

Yep, the cutting edge at the moment is Kinect...i've yet to be blown away by a Kinect game, but it's early days and the good news is Frontier have been with Kinect from the start.
I've no doubt a new Elite/Frontier game will come out, I just imagine DB's scope for it is probably quite high - I bet he really is waiting for technology to catch up with his ideas.

i just hope we dont have a bit of george lucas syndrome setting in!

Ouya versions?

Just a thought; Wouldn't the Ouya offer a solution to the on screen controls problem, and be a cheap-ish way to get a console version of Elite?

I know the Ouya isn't due to be released for a good few months, but I'm guessing all the code for Android couldn't be plucked out of thin air :).

Is there a version of elite, oolite, frontier, or ffe for ipad?

I'm currently playing galaxy on fire 2 on my ipad as its the closest thing I could find, would dearly love to play fe2 or ffe port on the ipad, after all its got way more power than the Atari had

DosPad says it's dosbox for iOS but no idea if it's any good. Hopefully someone else on here will know. There are a variety of ZX Spectrum emulators for iPad but none include Elite and I'm not sure they allow users to add further game images (due to copyright).

I think in time FD may do this, but I guess they're a bit busy right now :D

Looks like it's been taken off the App Store pending an updated version being released.

I played it a lot when I had an iPhone and it's very good! :)

I have 'Unknown' installed on my ipad2.

Its a great little Elite clone but I have one major problem with it..

you start with a docking computer

no, No, NO.. thats naughty :p

Agreed. Someone once told me the first bit of equipment you should buy is a cargo bay extension. Rubbish! Docking computer every time, but you should have to earn it.
Mind you, Frontier also had a docking computer as standard, but as there was so much else to do in the game it wasn't a big issue.

I have an Atari emulator on my Android called SToid - that runs Frontier Elite II fine.

Trouble is controlling it with the on screen mouse and lack of a right mouse button (I'm sure there is an option there somewhere). I downloaded an on screen keyboard with function keys, but it is a faff and takes up too much space.

I think, due to the form factor and control interface - a NES emulator is the way to go.

I also have a NES Emulator on my Android called "John NES Lite" and that plays the NES version of Elite (downloaded from Ian's page) fine.

Why I wish I had an Android tabes and not an ipad

hehe - I need to give that another go - my old Android would play it but it was pretty sluggish. I have a new one but I haven't tried it yet.

In my experience a lot of the old Elite/Frontier games work on Android, but they're pretty much unplayable due to the lack of a decent control method :(
